At this point, bro, voting against m/m in ME3 is like voting against fighting Collectors in ME2.

And yes, m/m was originally planned to be in ME1 (Kaidan), but it was cut.  Similarly, I believe Thane was bi?

yep, but it was cut...so why change it now? if I want m/m i'll play dragon age

Trash talking occurs often when the individuals using such tactics are protected by anonymity, same as on a forum. Derogatory speech against sexual orientation, racial differences, intelligence differences, and physical difference are commonplace. Note that although a person can use these sorts of conversation, that does not mean that that person truly has that particular opinion or expressed idea. Some individuals use this method of attack to distract or demoralize other players with no regard to the actual amount of truth in the selected accusation.

Back on topic: Yes the strides and changes regarding sexual orientation or sexual preference has seen a great amount of positive change in the last few years. We, myself included, of the newer generation are as a whole much more tolerant of an individuals beliefs.

Please don't go the DA2 route. I'd rather they make a strictly gay character and/or lesbian character than a bisexual character.

Tali was gonna be an LI in ME1.  They cut it because they weren't sure people would go for her (chicken feet and all).  And then they put it back in for ME2 since people actually DID want it.

Supply and demand, my friend.  I've been waiting to save the galaxy as Freddie Mercury for over a year now.

There's no point complaining. They're not going to cut out gay romances in ME3 when they're this far in.

Good to see that Jacob has gotten comfortable at having an assassin watch his back.

What part of "customizable character" do you children not understand? You would think that MaleShepard is going to get hit in the head with a disco ball in the opening scene of the game, then fall tumbling into bed with Kaidan, Garrus, AND James Vega. All set to a rockin' Village People soundtrack. Grow up already. Your precious HomophobeSheps will still be able to be huge douchebags in ME3, that's the beauty of a customizable character.

And...what is your reply to people that are not homophobe and don't mind gay relationships, but just don't want certain characters revealed as bi? Because..that is a very different issue and I must say, I find it offensive that every time this topic gets discussed, the word homophobe gets thrown around way too much.

Hmmmm...maybe I wasn't talking about you?

See, you should make it clear WHO you talk about. Because it does seem like a random attack against everyone that has an opinion that is not "yay, gay for everyone", even though some have concerns that can not be equaled with simple hate for all things homosexual and we wouldn't want a fight to occur simply because many feel insulted even if you're not even talking about them.

Sorry, but I had reached my limit of “Shepard can’t be gay because he was straight in the first two games” posts for one day. And it’s not like I was quoting one of your posts, so why did you think I was talking about you in the first place?

For the record I’ve felt insulted for the last 50 pages or so by the ingnorance and bigotry that have been flying around, so if there was a little splash damage from my snarkitude, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it. I do get tired of having to be “the bigger person” 100% of the time. :bandit:

This isn't a democracy. Bioware have made their decision.

Further, why would you deprive thousands if not hundreds of thousands of players wider choices that have absolutely no impact on your playthrough, just to satisfy false logic of continuity that assumes a heteronormative character?

I wasn't thinking you were talking about me in particular, but about EVERYONE that was for one reason or another non in favor of changing/revealing characters to be bisexual. Mostly because that seemed like the main discussion here. That Shepard is what the player wants him/her to be should be a given i assumed.

And again....to me it seemed the majority of this thread was a pretty civil discussion about not IF there should be gay options, but whether they should be new characters or not and if not, which old characters would make the most sense.

Well, if any of the original me1 crew is to be made gay/bi, then it has to be kaiden and ash. Shep, irregardless of male or female, needs to be able to romance them both in the course of ME3 and foster the next rulers of the universe after Shep destroys the reapers.

Other than those two, only Wrex should be gay for male shep and only Miranda should be bi for femshep.

Jacob is the situation and only loves his abs so he's out for any and all relations.

Tali is a duck... therefore she floats. We all know that wood also floats and as such she should be burned at the stake for being a witch... Which is probably the same as being gay or bi...

Anyone getting how I regard this news as being insulting sensationalism on Hudson's part? CH has just treated sexual preference as if it were carbon credits. Golf Clap.

I find the this isn't a democracy line ironic and hilarious because that is the exact same rationale that I heard anti same sex romance people using before this decision was announced. Everybody has a right to express their opinion wrong as they may be!

It does create a rather skewed impression of the medium, though. Say I have a nice conversation with twenty people. One screaming dude, if they scream loud enough, can ruin people's impressions of the shooter crowd, or just gamers in general, even if they are doing it just to distract the other guy. Who do you remember when you go to the park? The well-behaved kid with good dress sense or the little bastard who threw the temper tantrum and spat in his mother's face?

Then marketing comes in and treats all shooter fans like spitting toddlers <_<

Then again, if marketing just stopped generalizing people, this would not be a problem in the first place.

Please do not create quote pyramids, they waste page space.

About malesheps options...which characters seem the most likely? I get the normal, little information "friendship" conversations and have never created a Femshep. Not that I do not like the voice or anything, it is just that I created 1 character in ME1 that was perfect for me and I would hate having to play through that game 3+ times in order to transfer her over. I hate the default choices in ME2.

Why Ashley in particular? Couldn't another character or even better, a new character, play out this role? Personally I do not see Ashley as a bisexual in the least. Her religion could have an issue with it and she has the line with her sister involving Kaiden (my how a confrontation between Femshep and Ashley could have been planned, alas).

I would like to hear your thoughts on having Ashley as a bisexual in ME3.

It's the "Dismissed....chief"  "Ma'am" exchange I think, and the slight ex-girlfriend vibes on Horizon.

I've played ME2 as both genders, but I only played ME1 as a male Shep so I've not see that "Dismissed Chief" line. Nevertheless I have to say that when reading the various things that people have posted as "evidence" of bisexuality of various characters in the previous two games, I get the feeling they're grasping at straws. If you stare really hard at a cloud in the sky for long enough, it can begin to take the shape of pretty much anything you like.

In all honesty unless it is the new character that is bi I am incredibly upset with this. I don't want to have awkward moments with characters that I have established a friendship with where they come out of the closet to me after being completely heterosexual. It just wouldn't make any sense and would feel entirely forced. Part of what makes this trilogy so great is my personal connection to all the characters. Throwing in these kinds of character rewrites to appease a small part of the fan base really sabotages that. I'm not saying that homosexual options shouldn't exist in the game or in games in general, but they shouldn't be tacked on to traditionally heterosexual characters in the final chapter of the trilogy. If Kaiden's homosexual option had been kept in the first game, I really wouldn't mind him being bi in this game (he will unfortunately, more than likely be one of the characters they force bisexuality on), but since his character was rewritten to exclude that option it is just ludicrous.

Fortunately like the s/s romances BW caved into fan demand about the WHY WON'T YOU TALK TO ME GARRUS? people (who I am apart of). There will now be more non-romantic crew interaction!

As for Dude Shep. I'd say new guy (Vega or unannouced) and Joker. And if someone has to be from the older games (that's not Joker) it'll be Kaidan.

Insulting sensationalism?

this is something fans have been asking for, for years. He made an announcement on Twitter... about how something people have been wanting is in the game.

for most people this isn't controversial and no more sensationlistic then announcing that Garrus is on the team.

By that I mean, its something fans want and its been announced, Yes there are a minority of people who don't want same sex relations but they are a minority. The biggest argument thats being made is whether or not certain characters should be bisexual. Something bioware has not talked about at all.

@Siansonea II , @paptschik, and others... it is time to lay aside the sniping about who said what, or who applied a label to whom. It is becoming disruptive. One of three things will happen in the next few minutes:

1) Sniping stops.
2) The thread is locked.
or
3)Disruptive users are banned for 24 hours.

I much prefer option #1. I assume the majority of people in this thread, who have maintained a proper level of civility and discourse, agree with that.

EDIT:  The spirit of the message applies to one and all, even if you're not named directly.

Thank you.
