Ha! That's awesome. What country do you live in?

I had a gay friend who was kicked out of the Samaritans for being gay. That was like 20 years ago so maybe they're a bit more modern now... or maybe not. Anyway sorry for going off topic but that's the first time I've heard of a gay pastor and I say Yay!

I've played ME2 as both genders, but I only played ME1 as a male Shep so I've not see that "Dismissed Chief" line. Nevertheless I have to say that when reading the various things that people have posted as "evidence" of bisexuality of various characters in the previous two games, I get the feeling they're grasping at straws. If you stare really hard at a cloud in the sky for long enough, it can begin to take the shape of pretty much anything you like.

Well, the "Dismissed...Chief" "Ma'am" is the goodbye for Ash and Femshep's conversations. Given that it sticks out as UST for some of us and it ends every conversation, can you see, at least in theory, why it would seem like there could be something there?

+1 for burning Tali at the stake. Wait, that's off-topic. Hmmm. Try again:

+1 for same-sex LIs burning Tali at the stake.

The bottom line is we all hate SOMETHING. But we don't have to like everything in the game, because the game is for all of us. If some of you want Tali in your games, cheers. I don't, so she stays on Haestrom. Easy breezy, everybody wins.

You know, now I REALLY want to see the new squadmates.

EDIT: On a personal note, I always saw the chief/ma'am thing as a verbal brofist.  Also, even though I would rather not have old crewmates bi-ified for the sake of avoiding LI overload and fan rage, I will gladly accept any new options with old characters so long as they are done well.

There are a lot of gay churches in the US. A lot of synagagues have gay rabbi's too.

I'm just curious as to some of the motivations here re:

- Heterosexuality being sacrosanct (do whatever you like as long as anything that the presumption of heterosexuality has touched remains sacred and permanent!)
- Bisexuality is the worst thing that can possibly happen to a character (???).
- MShep now finding an interest in an existing male crew member/new male crew member being a "retcon".

But perhaps it's best not to ask...

I was trying to express that her wish for her family and humans in general to be respected would be a deterrent towards a relationship that could be considered negative or wrong in the eyes of fellow humans. Similar to the fact that social groups generally do not follow certain idea trends if these trends interfere with their long time goals.

Long story short: I personally think that Ashley would not be a proper character to initialize or be involved in a same sex relationship.

I have to wonder how several years into the future everyone views homosexuality?  Progress is being made right now, so I just can't get my head around Ashley bringing home her human girlfriend and everyone is like .  More than likely, the stigma is with aliens/humans.  If Ash were to bring home a Quarian girlfriend/boyfriend, that would probably be a hard pill for her family to swallow.

And if people are still homophobic ( yes, I said that word.  Deal with it.) in the future, then I still don't see how her new found romance for FemShep can't work.  Many gays go against the social norms of today and decide to be true to themselves instead of trying to please everyone and make sure they aren't making someone uncomfortable with being who they are.

@Siansonea II , @paptschik, and others... it is time to lay aside the sniping about who said what, or who applied a label to whom. It is becoming disruptive. One of three things will happen in the next few minutes:

1) Sniping stops.
2) The thread is locked.
or
3)Disruptive users are banned for 24 hours.

I much prefer option #1. I assume the majority of people in this thread, who have maintained a proper level of civility and discourse, agree with that.

EDIT:  The spirit of the message applies to one and all, even if you're not named directly.

Thank you.

I'm not even sure where that came from....it's not like there was a fight or anything. (or any sniping, really...i was trying to be helpful)

The wait is killing me, so hoping for a bisexual blonde, they'd better have the newbies in shepard's squad during the demo and not kaidan and liara

I'm personally on the if u don't tell I presume hetero side. I have been proven wrong a few times because of this, but it is easier than the alternative.

I say that in some cases it would indeed be a retcon. Thane for example has a son and had a wife, to me that means that Thane has a smaller chance of being bisexual in ME3 than Kaiden or Garrus. Similarly Mordin is Asexual, changing this would be a bad idea.

Yup.  Really, Bioware can get away with anything if they somehow make it make sense and present it in an awesome fashion.  Hell, after a geth squadmate and a romanceable Garrus, I'm prepared for anything.

Hm...  Gay batarian?  Or would that be too much?

I guess, but it's not exactly concrete evidence. Speaking as a straight man who very frequently gets hit on by gay men, I can tell you that they very often see what they want to see rather than what is actually there. And I can relate to that (plenty of times I've been into a girl and managed to convince myself that she was into me too when she wasn't) but... well to bring things back on topic, I think the best you can say is that there's little (if any) evidence that people were not bisexual. But there's also no evidence to say that, for example, Ash is not a secret sociopath who tortures people in her basement, or Wrex is not secretly into flower-arranging.

Well written fiction conveys relevant information about each of the characters, and nothing more. They don't have the time to tell you everything about a character and we don't have the time (or indeed the inclination) to learn it all. A great many of the characters in Shepard's crew have shown evidence of heterosexuality. In the absence of any other information, it's natural to assume that heterosexuality is the only sexuality they have.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, if humanity is still backward, homophobic, racist, etc. in 2185, then I'm siding with the Reapers in ME3. Maybe the next batch of organics will be worth saving. ;)

According to my own research, that passage of the bible seems to be the fault of a bad translation. The Hebrew word in that passage (toevah) doesn't seem to acually mean abomination, it means something closer to "taboo", including the culturally relative but not necessarily morally wrong connotation which the word "taboo" implies.

Being Jewish I can tell you that its not frowned upon to be gay and jewish where I live. But I'm not really religious or gay so I've never taken the time to learn the reasoning.

This had turned into the new Fight for the Love thread Posted Image

In any event, I find it funny how some people are saying "but Kaiden was supposed to be bi in ME1!!!!!  He had romance linez but Bioware took them out!!!!111"

Yeah, they took it out.  There is no in-game, factual evidence that Shepard (male) is anything but a heterosexual male.  Has he had the opportunity to (and in many playthroughs for people, experience) a love affair/flirting with several different women: Ash, Liara, Shi'ira, Miranda, Jack, Kelly, Shiila, Parasini (could be missing some).  Does he ever even flirt with a guy?  I must have missed it in all of my playthroughs.  You would think, wouldn't you, that if Bioware had ever intended to truly make Shepard possibly bi/gay that they would have at least hinted at it in the first two games?

"But my Shepard didn't romance any girl in the first two games, so there's a chance he's gay/bi!"  How am I supposed to argue against this kind of testimony?

I know I will be barraged by about 25 posts in like 3 minutes, but I don't care.  Male shep shouldn't be gay. or bi, whatever.

Siansonea, people have been like that for thousands of years...I doubt that theseroblems will entirely disappear ever in humanity's future unless these obstacles are destroyed, race being a good example. Race will not matter only when humanity always looks the same, there will always be people who think that they are superior to others because of how they look. In fact, a trend that is occurring in my city is an increase in racism against Caucasian (god, I hate that word...and African American) individuals by other races. Abstract reasoning is that in the past, they did it to other races so now it is our turn. Double standards are a wonderful effect of focusing on one race in particular by giving that race benefits.

CmmndrShepard, please do not bait other forumites.

Sorry for getting off topic...

Pray tell, why does it bother you so?

Why does MShep (as opposed to any other Shep?) being gay or bi bother you so?

What about it makes you uncomfortable? Clearly it makes you uncomfortable. It's ok. We're here to help.
