LOL   Ooops. My bad. B)

*getting back on topic*   To what the ol' Bioware folk have been saying, of course they are not going to give specifics. Safe to say they learned a few lessons from ME2 on how to NOT market a game. -_-

no. dont want this. dont need this. same sex romances do not need to be in this game. it wasnt in the first 2 game, it makes no sense to put it in the third to make a bunch of cry babies happy. they dont care about core gameplay they care about their fake love interest. this is just plain stupid.

They've already said it's going to be in the game, so it's all a question of why.

Also, 99% of all media released has focused on core gameplay, not romances. This thread is based on a single tweet, so while people in this thread care about it, it's clear where Bioware's focus lies.

If you'd like, you can suggest throwing in an option for an "asexual" mode that diables all love interests for those who think that romances are inappropriate in a Mass Effect game.

Also, same sex romances have effectively existed since the first game, in the form of Liara. Sure the asari are "different." Hmm. Would the problem be solved for you if the s/s romance took the form of a new race where all the aliens are male?

Asexuality doesn't necessarily mean not being involved in a romantic relationship. Nitpicky, I know, no offense meant :D

But I've got to say, I'm not a big fan of toggles. The romances in ME2 can be easily avoided, and this will probably continue in ME3. Adding any sort of toggle gives unfortunate implications, and not only when it comes to sexuality. To me, it makes it sound like the romances are simply a cool extra feature, like the ability to toggle helmets or blood spatter in DA2. And yes, the romances are just a nice extra feature, but one that helps us connect with characters and see some possible development, not just an asthetic touch.

And CulturalGeekGirl, your previous post is excellent, and I applaud the effort. Hope it doesn't get left in the dust due to the fast pacing of the thread!

Thanks. I don't sweat it getting swept up... this is like the third iteration of it, incorporating new feedback and ideas every time. I'll probably eventually put it on my forumblog and just link to it whenever I want to give possible implementation examples. And while it might seem hideously complex, Bioware devs probably write design documents like that in their sleep, five times a day, uphill in the snow.

I completely understand being against toggles. The "no romances" toggle is really a joke, while certain specific romances can be hard to avoid, it's easy to just avoid all of them altogether.  I know someone who didn't realize there were romances in ME1. He literally said "What? Oh, I didn't even bother to save that one chick, and I didn't talk to the alien." Of course, when I asked him about ME2? "Tali."

The reason I suggest the "unflagged" setting in my second example is that really it's the best way to make everyone as happy as possible. If you can choose between getting to romance your ideal partner with a toggle or DLC, or not getting to romance them at all, wouldn't you prefer the toggle? I say this as a girl with a Femshep who would romance Tali, and as a girl who would enjoy a Jokermance, but I otherwise have no dogs in this fight (Well, other than a female friend who refuses to play ME because of the lack of m/m romances). I have my Garrus and Kaidan, don't need anything more than that. I would only suggest a toggle in a situation where there are Same Sex romances for both genders available by default. Still, if modding and fanfiction have taught me one thing it is this: people will find a way, you might as well give them an easy and legal way to do it.

people want for ME3? Human, alien, new gay characters, or old ones
opening up?

I see two ideas being tossed around a lot. Colored flirt text or DA style hearts. Which is better?

EDIT: Thanks, CGG. I just fail at it when I attempt it.

Why you so bad at links? Also, fixed it for you.

If you want to make something a link, surround it with {url} {/url} only with straight brackets [ ] rather than curly ones. you can also make something a link by highlighting some text and clicking the World with Chain icon, then putting the desired URL in the appropriate field.

Alternately, you can do this {url=http.yoururl.com}LINK TEXT{/url}

I did?

Then I apologize.

I just don't see HOW people felt disconected from ME1 in ME2, so I was asking.

Felt that way. But I might'vebeen overreacting.

Anyways 4 new LIs please...or just three. 2 males and one female...Liara does count as a f/f LI so it balances out.

Credit goes to BioWare for the courage to try to change people's perceptions if they only get through to a couple, that's a couple more and it's something. Not many developers take that opportunity so some well deserved applause for BioWare from me :)

This statement is just so incorrect.

First off, the whole game isn't NEEDED it's not a necessity that it exists merely something people want and so we are here to discuss what we want in the game.

It wasn't in the first two games therefore it makes no sense that its in the third.

that is a false statement.

calling people crybabies. Not helping anyone.

I care in a big way about the core gameplay. I also care about the love interests, or rather THE STORY. It's a bioware game afterall.

EDIT: spelling.

I have no problem with it being in ME3 as long as they are never before romanced characters.  I don't want a DA2 and I certainly don't want Kaidan/Ashley to be bi.  Frankly, those who were faithful to their ME1 love interest got the promise that they would be rewarded in game 3.  To make Kaidan/Ashley all of a sudden bi is not a reward in fact if this forum is anything like the DA2 forum, people won't shut up about it and the devs will retcon that Kaidan had several guys in the two years when clearly on Horizon, if you read into it, he has a thing for Lilith.  That's all I'm going to say about it.  I'm done with this topic and the Mass Effect forums.  I'm moving on.  It's obvious that Bioware cares about the bi/gay minority, good for them, but they are forgetting about their core gamers.  That's all I'm going to say.

Ah hell I don't care any more as long as they've learned from DA2's mistakes.

Changing old characters just to appease some people is still retarded though.

Why not to ME2? The amount of rampant, female, heterosexual hormones should see you fine for quite a while.

Even they make every LI in this series to be bi, there are people who still complain because
they feel their game characters will be ruined and they feel uncomfortable with that if they
make only some characters to be bi, some people still don't like it because they not the
characters they want to romance.

from what I see there no win-win in this issue.

ps.sorry my English is not good.

You are correct. There is no win-win with this. The problem with threads like these is they spiral out of control with people saying "EVERYONES BI" when no one has stated that or has proof that is what will happen in this game.

From reading C-Hud's tweets it'll be a new love interest, not an old one. That's how I read the information anyway.

The fact is people like to be melodramatic and let it go round in circles for no reason what so ever. We don't have any information as to what will happen except that there will be new LI's, and there will be same-sex LI's. Which is good. I don't see how anyone can find it a bad addition considering it is your choice whether or not to pursue them.

Please shout this from the rooftops.

The amount of negativity is ridiculous. Other people get choices that don't affect anyone else.

They're happy! Be happy for them!

Well thats great news. I won't feel conficted about buying ME3 now. And the release date being pushed back is a good sign Bioware aren't pulling a DA2 aswell. I'd assume the m/m is the new guy but with Kaidan's hidden m/m dialogue I'm not so sure it won't be him, though it wouldn't make that much sense for him to suddenly be into maleshep.

It's just a fan service. They won't do it to deepen the characters or make them more intresting and varied. They just wanna see Shepard nail Jacob in the ass or vice versa and laugh about it on the forums or Youtube. And Bioware wants to be applauded for tolerance and crossing the oh so dangerous same sex relationships in video games boundaries once again.
They just throw sex in your face, cuz they know sex sells.

Miranda's boobs and ass (great camera angles too), naked SuZe, Jacob, Kelly, Samara, Tali just to name a few. Countless sexual remarks everywhere by almost every character. Just makes me pissed off. Do you people have anything else to talk or do about?
