It's hilarious how the same people who dumped on Anders in Awakening for being "faggy" because he liked cats, knitting and jewelry are now falling all over themselves to insist that Anders was a paragon of masculinity and heterosexuality all along, once he actually showed interest in men.

Okay wise people who know more about Anders sexuality than his writers.

How exactly was his sexuality established as heterosexuality only?

I've asked this question several times and never has anyone proved it.

Go ahead. Try.

When he babbles on about just wanting beer, a nice WoMaN and setting things on fire or something like that

That doesn't make one heterosexual only.

Try again.

And it's oddly hilarious how men get their panties into a twist over Anders. God I wish you lot would turn into women for a week. Sexual harassment my foot.

Yes yes we should all turn into women liking Yaoi. We have dismissed that claim.

It proves hes more likely to be straight. I dont see any proof of him being gay prior to DA2. So that makes the score:

Straight-1  Gay-0

It isnt as insane to believe hes straight as you make it out to be.

its certainly not insane it is silly of you however to try and mince it as a valid argument

As a straight guy who likes to play Femshep she usually romances women i also believe giving the player the freedom of choice is a very good thing.

So, why are we debating Anders' sexuality again?

I assume you wrote their nicks down and are now checking them off on your list as they appear in this thread?

Ive never even heard anyone say that about anders hobbies. Dont make it sound like it was the norm around here

Because people think they wrote Anders character and knew he was heterosexual in Awakening and that they retconned his sexuality in DA2 and that's what'll happen to the ME2 characters.

Pretty much the don't make ME1/ME2 characters s/s romances arguement.

People think Garrus is going to turn into a moody renegade if he becomes bisexual?

Think about it. I'm sure that with enough effort, even you can figure out what I meant.

Don't hurt yourself, though.

If someone is dumping on someone for liking cats, knitting, and jewelry and ascribing a sexual orientation based on that, then it is expected they'd be upset over his character in DA2. I prefer to ignore such childish and stupid bigots and I recommend pointing and laughing. Thankfully they are but a small section of the collective whole

They think he'll become a moody renegade mage biotic and blow up the oppressive C-Sec regime? Because Executor Pallin didn't love him enough.

Clearly the final chapter of ME of will be about C-Sec and Biotics somehow!

He already became a moody renegade though. He just didn't blow anything up.

Okay fine. Just a renegade. Garrus couldn't pull off moody.

But if there's anything BW probably learned from this its to make their bi characters express interst in both sexes.

Because if they don't they're assumed straight.

I honestly give up trying to talk to these people. You can't use logic, they just dismiss that or ignore it. And you can't use humor, because they pounce on that as if you're perfectly serious and try to lambaste you for espousing viewpoints opposite from what you're expressing. They just want to believe that everyone is innocent until proven guilty straight until proven gay, and that if someone has ANY same-sex leanings, they need to wear a sign around their neck when you first meet them, or bring it up in conversation at the earliest opportunity. And a gay man HAS to express interest in other men at some point, or he can't be gay, he MUST be straight. They're so terrified they might actually know somebody gay and not know they're gay. So to them, being gay is an "obvious character trait" that is completely and irrevocably disproven by somebody saying they think someone of the opposite sex is kinda hawt. And don't even try to explain what "bisexual" means, talk about brick walls. It's like an Abbott and Costello routine.

Indeed there wouldn't be any "but he's asexual!" if someone didn't express an interest in either gender and became a m/f romance option.
But gay and bisexual? They must tell everyone they like the same gender right away. Otherwise they're breaking character.

And then when BW *does* do that. "why you forcing gayness down my throat BW!" Ugh. They just can't win.

No, no one has to necessarily expressly state any such thing. It isn't so far-fetched to understand why people would find it jarring, however. If a man only ever expresses interest in women, and expresses no such attraction toward men (and only extends normal friendship or camaraderie), it is logical and understandable people would conclude he is heterosexual. If a man expresses such interest toward both, it would be logical to conclude he is bi. If he only expresses interest in men, then gay. Whether one agrees or disagrees, I would think it would at least be understandable.

No, I understand why they find it jarring.  All I ever say is that they have no logical base to assume someone is 100% heterosexual based on what we know.  If a character comes out as bisexual later, then people would be justified in saying 'it just bothers me' or 'I'm shocked' but to say that it's 'bad writing' or 'a retcon' or 'unrealistic' is not.  The former is just a personal issue they have while the latter deals with judging the romances themselves and their writing.

People around these parts unfairly put down the DA2 romances just b/c all are bisexual or b/c of Anders, without taking the actual romances themselves or the writing into consideration.

And being approached by anders as a member of the same sex is not the same as the thing ladies "live with their whole lives" because thats mostly straight approaches.

Creepers hitting on me is not any less creepy just because they're dudes.

At least lesbians are more subtle and understand "no".

As does Anders. He stops if you just tell him no.

Also this.

I had this creep always hovering on my shoulder and petting me. I told him to knock it off. He did it every day for about 5 days even when I asked him to stop, removed his hand physically, slapped him for continuing and so on.

He only knocked it off when I got up to get secruity to get his ass thrown out (that's when I finally reached my breaking point).

*That's* harassment.
