Need some tips on fighting Illasera with the Accession MOD (and probably future Bhaalspawn), this is my first time using the MOD having played the vanilla game +10 times (Im slow)

My party make-up:
Hero Kensai/Thief Lv. 13/20
Korgan Lv. 22
Viconia Lv. 23
Jaheira Lv. 15/14 (F/D)
Imoen Lv. 7/17 (M/T)
Edwin Lv. 19

Im currently playing on HARD level and this encounter is killing me (over and over again). Illasera and one of her archer crony are hammering us with 30-40hp damage. Despite Korgan having an AC -9, he seems to be taking every hit.
I have beaten this encounter, but thats with heavy casualty. Any tips on survinving this fight without lowering the difficulty and not having anyone in the party killed?

Got too used to having my front-line fighters desecrating the enemies...this is a wake up call on how suck I am at this game.

Don't feel too bad. Illasera has stumped a number of gamers over the years. She shreaded my Bounty Hunter the first time I faced her...

Illasera can be murderously difficult or trivial- depending on the tactics used. There are many ways to take her down, but most involve parking someone (or something) immune to her arrows right in front of her. Here's the most unusual method I've used. This was with a solo Transmuter on Insane.

* The pictures are not longer active. In case you're wondering, the "bizzare sight" was a Mustard Jelly in a Teleport Field, surrounded by Bunny Rabbits...

More conventional methods include: The Reflection Shield, Physical Mirror, Mordy Swords, and Pro MW. The Reflection Shield is perhaps the most powerful option since she'll basically kill herself on it and it can't be dispelled (naturally). This can feel a little dirty though. Of course, Missle Damage Resistance items (like the Belt of Inertial Barrier) can be helpful as well.

I'm guessing you'll figure out the rest. But let us know if you need more help: the casters can cause problems in that fight as well- as you probably noticed.

Good hunting Marlboro1771!

Best,

A.

NW: If you have the SCSII Enhanced Ascension AI scripts installed, the logic differs somewhat, in that case she'll likely detect the Reflection Shield and target vulnerable party members. You'll have to spread the missle weapon defense love around in that case.

Does she have arrows of dispelling in vanilla ToB, or is it just SCS II difficulty mod? I actually never tried her without Ascension/SCS2 installed.

Well i had to fight her when she was throwing few arrows of dispelling per round. AC is useless against her and stone skins get dispelled. In addition she has (depending on setup) superior healing potions. That's more like a challenge :)

For my custom party I defeated her easily tho in SCS2 with multiple true sights + my F/M/T hammering her in the back with Staff of Ram. Wasn't too hard because she was taking 6 critical backstabs per round (gotta love Mislead spell) so she was sort of dead after few seconds. not even her potions of extra healing help. This party however utilizes the strongest (or most cheesy) methods the game offers.

For a regular party (and no SCS2): Indeed you should try the reflection shield, as Alesia suggests. You could also try improved haste on everybody + just ganging up on her, without SCS2 she can't heal herself and will go down fast, and once she's dead her minions will run away.

I also never tried this but stacking skull trap or delayed blast fireball in places where her goons pop up might also kill them instantly as the fight start. You have a good while to place those. Or spike traps if you have them already. Just don't bother placing them at her location, she has high MR.

Thanks for the tips.

Unfortunately I didnt buy the reflection shield. Arrows never bothered me until today.
Not a fan of traps....too much cheese. But in the end I crushed the group by summoning a Fallen Deva, a Deva, a golem and an Efreeti before the encounter to act as arrow fodders. Summoning these guys during the fight was not possible....got cut down too quickly.

I'm glad you came up with your own way- that always feels best.

Good luck with Gromnir!
