I'm currently about half-way through the side-quests in and around Athkatla, and Yoshi has just hit level 13.
Right now I'm debating what to do with him.
1 - Do I leave him as a Bounty Hunter, although there really aren't many more places to dump those skill points each level (I don't use traps.)
2 - Dual him to Fighter and put points into Two-Weapon Fighting and Longsword to utilise all those awesome long swords out there that nobody else can use.
Bearing in mind that Yoshi won't be with the party forever, I wondered what the best options are here.
I have Nalia to cover the thief angle if Yoshi duals, and Imoen will replace him eventually too.
Do you think I'll be able to get him to Level 14 Fighter with enough time to utilise him before going to Spellhold?
Any thoughts on this one?
My current party is:
Charname - Human - Paladin
Jaheira
Viconia
Mazzy
Nalia
Yoshimo
What to do with Yoshimo?

I'd kick him until you want to leave for spell hold because you obviously don't need him to cover a nitch so why not give those experience points to a useful character like Valygar or Haer'dalis.
If you dual him at the start he will get his traps back in time but its too late now... Of course that will make him an easy victory.
What do you mean you don't use traps?

Fair enough. I might consider kicking him until we leave for Spellhold then.
I think Valygar will be the replacement of choice.
I just wondered whether he would reach level 14 quickly, given as XP is handed out liberally in BG2, and I so wanted someone to dual-wield the cool longswords I've been saving.
I don't like using traps as I think they're a bit overpowered and thus cheesy. Same reason I avoid using Balduran's Shield.

Well in unmodded game there's so much cheese that not using traps hardly makes a difference
As for Yosh, I'd say kick him out, Valygar is a fine replacement if you need a guy with some sword skill.

If you dual him just before you go to Spellhold, he'll be an L1 fighter when he comes to "stop" you.
Irenicus chose his agents well indeed! ;-)
I agree that Valygar will probably work better in combat than fighter Yoshimo. To me, you're better off killing Nalia and picking up Jan and Valygar. Then you can ditch Jan when you pick up Imoen if you want. (But the important thing here is to not have to suffer through Nalia!)
