I order them to hide behind objects and they do not half the time or they stand on top of the object. They are constantly standing up on top of things I tell them to hide behind which just makes them useless.
I am using Windows 7 64 bit(why? because I run 12gb of RAM and have to use it) with i7 3.2ghz quad core, nvidia 560 TI 1gb.
Companions are all bugged in combat

You need to make sure the circle which surrounds the arrow is completely behind the cover you wish for them to use. If itoverlaps into the cover, the squaddies will try and clamber on top of it.
