I am in full support of having the S/S option as long as they don't do what they did in ME2 and cut out all their content if I don't romance them.

Sorry Jack, I like you as a friend but since you don't want to talk unless I romance you...

Exactly. I totally forgot about Jack. That's the reason why. If I play ManShep, who's not into bad, tattooed girls, she has nothing. But she could be oh so intresting character, without romance.

I am fine with it but only with new characters.

Why not? If they are worried about people feeling uncomfortable just make it player initiated, the character dose not hit on you in till you hit on them and the option that dose this is very obvious.

Or have them hit on you once, you say you’re not interested and then they don’t do it again. I don’t know why being hit on by the same sex is so scary to some people. You can say no to someone of the same sex as easily as you can say no to someone of the opposite sex. It’s not a big deal.

This
What worries me the most, that Bioware will overdo the romance, and if an NPC is romancable they will be only intrested in it, and have nothing to say outside of that. I do want those extra scenes, but instead of the priiiize and screwing around, I would rather to just have a drink with Jacob, like with Dr.Chakwas or play pool or something.

Yeah but that’s a problem with bioware romances in general. I’m really hoping they have more to platonic relationships in ME3.

I'm fine with it. Provided that, if they are using previous LIs, that it is well-written and makes sense. I am also in full support of new LIs that are also romanceable by both sexes.

It'll be just like any other LI, if I don't like them, I don't have to do that optional piece of content.

The problem is, that for example, I want to be all caring and supporting and understanding. So I pick the top option. It looks fine, it doesn't implicate a romance in most cases. And then f***! Kaidan is big on me? And even if I ****block him it still counts as a romance in ME2? WTF? Same with Ash. So you have to load a much earlier save, from the first convo and be an ass, so they would ****** off. Or don't talk to them, which ruins the point of roleplaying and interaction.

Actually, even if you choose neutral options, you still get the romance in ME1. I remember I said 'NO' to Liara, then talked to her again after some other mission, and BAM, she thinks you've changed your mind about her.

Good thing, it was fixed in ME2. There were clear indications for romance options ('I want you', 'I'm interested', 'I'm admiring it now', etc seem pretty obvious romance dialogs to me), and even if you accidentaly hit that dialog option, you could break up with no bad feelings in the next conversation. They all ask if you are sure about this, and only if you confirm it, then you have a romance. Really easy to avoid if you don't want it. Hope they keep it the same in ME3.

I would have to disagree on the part of Tali in ME2. I wasn't aware I had triggered her romance flag before she 'confronted' me about my adventures with Miranda. I thought I was just being the good friend to her like in ME1, untill she started acting weird on me. That was certainly a moment I would have prefered being without.

but if all of the sudden Garrus is hitting on me there is a problem. i dont need to be fighting off those types of advances.

Garrus, with Jacob style dialogue, heavy risk indeed.

But I think I just criiiiiiiied..

IDC, as long as the s/s romance interest does NOT initiate.  I don't want to talk to a s/s NPC and have them hit on me.  Let the player initiate.

Thats another thing to add to the list. The *shadow* romances can be quite annoying. One of the things I loved about DA2, for the most part you could choose to pursue the romance outside of any other conversations. (Not without its flaws though)

You know, I can see the problem with some of the ninja-mances over the course of two games, because I sort of encountered some with Ashley and Jack on playthroughs where I wasn't romancing them but I thought others were pretty obvious. Weren't there pretty explicitly romantic sounding lines you had to hit with Laira and Tali?

I approve of the addition for those that want it. As long as I can be 'friends' with the possible love interests without accidentally taking the romance path, that's just fine.

According to Hudson there will be more non-romance dialogue with the squaddies. Which I assume means friendship paths.

It's about time I say.

I'm sorry, but how that convo is not obvious as romance?

Tali:
- It's just that the tradition is also signifies a willingness for, um, intimacy.

And you can jump at oportunity with 'I'm interested', show cautious interest with 'It's too dangerous', or just say 'Not interested' if you are not interested. How the option 'Not interested' was not obvious?

I'm just hoping Bioware releases a new juicy spoilerific piece of information soon so that everyone has something new to argue about. Something that makes sense to argue to the pro's and con's of.

I never managed to ninja-mance Liara. She asks you if you are interested and you say no. End of story. Is this bugged in some games or what? And I don’t know how you could possibly romance Tali by mistake. It seem pretty clear what that line was. Maybe they should use DA2’s heart icon or something so you know without a doubt that is the romance line.

Probably not dramatic enough for some people.

I voted.

I do NOT want to see Tali retconned as a bisexual. Sorry to my fellow bisexual and homosexual gamers who would like to see that. It creates an inconsistency in the game that is too great to ignore.

Now, if BioWare would like to introduce some new romantic options (which they don't plan to do) then that is fine, since it won't break the canon.

People should really stop using the word "retcon".

Especially when they have no idea of what it means.

A bad retcon at that. It completely derailed her character. :pinched:

Tali claiming she had a crush on Shepard all along yet showing no sign of it until ME2 isn't a retcon? Her suddenly gaining an interest in humans (let alone Shepard) with no mention isn't a retcon?

She never said she was interested in humans.

If that logic works against her being bisexual it works against her being interested in humans.

To go back and change story line facts.
Which is what some people are asking for.

That said while I hate retcons (and blizzard is the worst for retconns) I absolutly loath social conservatives.  So anything that gets those uptight prudes in a hissy fit is funny and should be supported.  Therefore I do support same sex options in ME3.

The faux "news" outrage should be epic lulz.
