hi folkes, i bought the platinum edition on steam and am before my first playthrough, i looked at the characters and came up with the following two crazy combinations (so i am happy for your feedback since i have no idea about that d&d stuff but read a bit about the sills and so)

1) Bard 23-25 / Swashbuckler 3 / Warlock 2 / Shadowdancer 0-2
some kind of sneaky, light, fast, magic using fighter
focussing on dexterity and intelligence as attack and damage rolls
can only wear light armor
-> what i am wondering here is if this only makes sense when going dualwield...

2) Bard 26 / Black Guard 3 / PM (for ac) or WL 1
divine might, the bg debuff aura that supplements the bards one, ac or saves bonus from pm or wl
medium armor, strength based

i somehow feel that nr 2 might work better due to higher armor and strength focus, but i kinda think my nr 1 is quite nice rping version...im wonerding if i will get anywhere with it lol

These should work OK. To be honest, even a bad build can handle the OC reasonably OK (so long as you don't go even split on Sorcerer/Ranger/Druid or something).

Bear in mind, though, that the OC starts at L1 and is intended to progress to L20. If you then use the same build in MotB, you'll be able to carry on to L30, but otherwise you won't get to make use of any of that epic stuff. Either way, you'll want a build that's relatively decent all the way though.

I don't know if you know of this, but you should check out nwn2db.com which has a lot of builds (powerbuilds, mostly, but hey).

EDIT: If you are thinking of playing as a melee Bard, you might want to consider Fighter and/or Red Dragon Disciple levels.

i thought of fighter, but i kinda like the swashbuckler type...warlock has some nice buffs that complement bard well (invisibility/concealment/+bluff/+dex/tumble/+savings depending on charisma)
so i can focus on a dex/int character :-) maybe i drop the shadowdancer out or so

i was thinking of a type of independent wanderer / ladies man / adventurer that picked up some "secret dark arts" on the way...some mixture of han solo, indiana jones, arsene lupin, jarlaxle -isch

the concern i have is that my ac will be pretty low and i have low constitution since i wont be using shield, only light armor and not really use "hide" to fight

Go STR based, it's better for the OC.

heard so, but that wouldnt really fit the type of character...its a shame they didnt lay out the oc more diverse

altough the bard blackguard (and maybe 1 warlock) would also be an option...hmmm

Swashbuckler is pretty cool and works nicely, but it synergises much better with, say, Wizard (imagine Wizard 5/Swash 3/Eldrith Knight X, say) than with Bard. Bard/Fighter/Blackguard/Warlock or some variation thereof is pretty stable, though you'd have to be evil - Blackguards add their Cha bonus to saves, and Warlocks can (if you take Dark One's Own Luck), so you can get a huge boost to them. With Warlock 2 you could take two invocations, such as Beguiling for conversations or Sight Beyond Sight (that's Least, right?). With a couple of levels of Blackguard you could get a Divine feat. This would work better Str-based anyway, though, because you need Power Attack for the Divine Feats, which requires 13 Str.

Incidentally, Mithril armour counts as one category lower, so you can use a Mithril medium armour and still cast spells as a Bard. If you took Battle Caster, you could use Mithril Full Plate and still be fine. You're not going to be casting much Warlock stuff in battle, probably, so it wouldn't matter if you didn't have Battle Caster for the Warlock too.

For the OC, you could do something like this:

http://nwn2db.com/bu...32688&version=1

All Bard songs and party buffs, medium armor and Rogue skills (so you don't need to use a Rogue companion if you don't want to). It's a level 20 build, but you can play it all the way to 30 if you carry it to MotB.

In the end, you can play almost anything through the OCs, you don't need an uber build, it's done so anyone can finish it.
