Can't even be sarcastic without people freaking out. What is the world coming to?

Well, goodnight, you've all been lovely. We've been visited by the lovely and talented RaenImrahl and he didn't lock this forum, so I assume you can keep playing nicely if you want. I plan to check in again tomorrow after work. I need to earn the money to afford ME3 when it comes out.

An overabundance of personal sniping going on lately.

Some people likely deserve personal sniping but I forget freedom of speech doesn't exist on web forums so. I digress.

If you read Casey Hudson's Twitter feed not all the returning characters (if any) will be s/s romances for Shepard.  There is even talk of new LIs.  Being the pessimist that I am, I suspect femShep's bi romance will be Liara (maybe Kelly) and manShep will get someone new.

As to your question, OP, no, Sheploo/ManShep will continue to dominate the game.  As for me personally, I left manShep a long time ago (for reason already stated), and my main femShep has been a lesbian since ME1.

i don't get the mark meer hate. i think its clear he's not "feeling" most of his lines in ME2, but when I played through as a full renegade, you get to hear some really great lines from him. it seems mark meer is a lot more into the fighter aspect of shepard. hale's voice does NOT fit right in that same context - conversely, she's got a lot better lines when it comes to regular dialogue.

Tis cool. To be honest, I didn't play female Shepard for a long time until my girlfriend insisted. She kept telling me that Hale's VA was SO much better than Meer's VA. While I don't think Meer did a bad job, his VA was at his best when Shepard was all business, but Hale did a far better job in scenes to conveyed extreme emotions, and her big speeches were better. Since ME was mostly business, the differences weren't as striking as they were in ME2, when Hale was really allowed to shine in the romance scenes and Meer seem... awkward.

Hale's work is definitely one of the reasons I prefer playing femshep; nothing against Meer, he does a fine job. There's just something special in Hale's performance. That goes for ME1 and 2.

They both do fantastic jobs, but Hale's performance of the Paragon speech before the Suicide Mission actually made me tear up.

I love Meer's voice and I will be primarily maleShep. His default face is nothing short of epic for me.

Yes! Also during Tali's trial, both her Paragon and Renegade speeches are epic.

If, and I mean IF, the rumors are true and most or all ME3 characters are now romantic options for both Shepards

This isn't an actual rumor. It's just something repeated almost exclusively by the anti-gay people to make it seem like Bioware is being ham-fisted and turning everyone gay. It has no basis in reality or anything any dev has stated. In fact it was directly contradicted by Casey Hudson.

Since most people playing are guys and play male characters, I doubt your prediction has any basis in reality.  Sure, there are a few wannabe crossdressers in the closet who dream of being a woman in real life and use games as an outlet for their... condition. But fear not. The real shep is going to be OK.

Uh...no, no it won't.

My main Shepard is a guy because I'm a guy, and I play him basically as extension of myself and save the role-playing for other my Shepards. Banging Ashley and Tali and whoever else is just gravy, not the main course.

Frankly, I almost can't play Renegade now without Mark Meer's deadpan delivery (that main Shep I mentioned is a Renegade). It makes the character for me. My main FemShep is a Renegon, and while Jennifer Hale isn't bad with the Renegade lines, I still prefer Meer.

Nah I won't play as a female. I have a femshep, but I'm not a huge fan of Hale. As Shepard anyway.

I actually prefer to play as a male character and prefer Mark Meer's performance as Shepard over Hale's.

I actually have a slightly different concern about the bisexual romances in ME3; as other people have said, people are still going to play maleShep predominantly.

Let me preface this by saying I had no problem with bisexuality in DAO or DA2, and I didn't really protest Anders turning out to be gay. That being said...

I think this presents one of two problems for ME3: either Bioware will make some party members abruptly gay ("retconning," some might say), or it will introduce brand new party members to avoid presumptions of companions' sexual orientation.

As I've said in previous ME2 forums, I think ME1 and 2 have introduced so many good characters that throwing them away for new ones would just suck. I really would prefer ME3 stick with the current cast of characters in large part. However, I also think several characters in ME, including ones commonly requested for homosexual options, have given clear signs they lean towards heterosexuality.

It won't bug me much or impact my enjoyment of the game if they make characters gay, but for anyone who's seen the five-bajillion "Andarz wuzn't teh gey" threads in DA2 forums, you know BW will be inviting griping. Though that's true no matter what they do...

All of that being said, I think this is probably another indication that a largely new cast of characters will take center stage. After all, the suicide mission already put tons of characters in the "might not be imported" category. Hopefully new characters, with no annoying suicide mission problems, will free up game resources. As long as I still get Liara and Garrus...

They could even take the easy way out for gay male relationships; suddenly there's a new, red-skinned alien species that's all male, called the Irasa... Lawl.

No, because I can avoid them if I want to. Hence why they're optional.

I'm pretty sure I explained it in the opening, and I admitted that my title was a hyperbole. Basically, this forum was an attempt for people to explain why they play as male or female Shepard and whether or not they're more like to play as female Shepard if all the female former squad members are now bisexual. Also, I wanted to see if more players would be outraged over the male characters being bisexual than the women.

And yes, I have been reading more announcements from Bioware that MAY indicate that not ALL characters will be bisexual, but they still seem open to interpretation. Maybe Bioware is just floating a trial balloon.
