No maleshep is fine. He's the best.

Tis cool, though I admit your post confused the hell out of me for a second due to punctuation problems.

Huh? Where did I go wrong? Also it was a joke post maybe I should've wrote it in green or something Image IPB.

You sould have a comma after "No." It looked like you were saying it was okay to get rid of male Shepard, but then you said, "He's the best." Confused the hell out of me for a second.

Play DA2 as a male Hawke and you won't need your imagination.

From the name of this thread I thought it was a prediction that Kelly (or maybe Liara) was going to kill ManShep in ME2.

Thus far, Meer flirting has been unsuccessful. The Tali scene still gives me chills, in a bad way.

@l Sarcastic Tasha -- Hyperbole aside, this forum was basically about romance AND about which gender players play and why. I'm more than willing to go off topic if the subject interests me. All I ask is that we don't start a "male gay Shepard is recon!" argument. There are other forums for that.

EDIT: Also, I like Meer better as Fenris, myself.

I see the point that if you can romance female characters as a female why play male. I considered playing ManShep to romance Miranda but I am too used to FemShep so I couldn't do it. But I guess men like playing as ManShep and most women want to romance male characters anyway so it probably won't make much of a difference.

Meer is a talented voice action who does many different voices in ME and DA series, not just Shepard and Fenris. His Shepard, however leaves something to be desired in the romance department.

Tis cool. I think most casual players do play as their own gender if not as the default Shepard, but my curiosity was provoked by many of the posts and comments I've seen from die-hard ME fans, a sizable portion of which are males who like to play as lesbian characters. If such players could play snugglebunnies with Miranda while still playing female Shepard, would it "kill" their male Shepards? The narrow question applies to a fragment of the ME fan population, to be sure, but I'm also curious as to what men and women play and why and who they romance and why. But I don't want this forum to be a debate on the morality of gay romance, nor the "morality" of "recon." There are other forums for that.

I did play as a male warden on DA:O to romance Morrigan (there was a trophy for extra incentive) but he was silent so he didn't bug me like ManShep and ManHawke. I find that if you don't romance a character you don't find out as much about them so if I really like a game I would romance everyone but I would rather do so as a female character.

Well, CHARNAME is male (simple - more content, more dialogue, etc); I don't have a canonical Grey Warden;
my Shepard is female - first play-through was with the default Sheploo soldier (with Liara LI) since it's the default for a reason, and I wanted to get a feel of the powers and such before making a real character; 2nd play-through was femShep since it's more interesting - manly tough (space) marine saves the world is not a terribly original premise - and that kinda stuck, and so did the choice of LI.
Edit: I also don't consider Shepard (or CHARNAME, or the Grey Warden) my avatar - they're indepentend characters (who may share some of my moral and ethical believes, since I don't particularly enjoy watching pointless violence and such)

Fenris was voiced by Gideon Emery NOT Meer.

Where'd that Fenris comment come from? Just because the character in question (elf in Kirkwall's house of negotiable affection) is an elf doesn't mean that he's necessarily Fenris (in fact few elves are Fenris).

Sorry, my bad. I know Meer was the bisexual Blooming Rose elf, but I thought he was Fenris, too. I'm not too proud to admit I'm wrong. I must have misread a release somewhere.

EDIT: Of course, now I feel REALLY stupid because I FINALLY understand the joke. "HE wouldn't sleep with me, either!"

Not at all. Although it can be hard to tell, and I mean no offense by this, but FemShep fans are actually the Vocal Minority of the fanbase. So even with gay options, most gamers will still end up playing with a Male Shepard.

No offense taken, unless you plan on insulting people who play as female Shepard or, possibly, gay male Shepard. So what kind of Shepard do you like to play and why? Do the LI influence your decision in any way?

As long as its handled better than in Dragon Age 2 I'm all for it being open to be bisexual. Romance/sexuality should never be forced on anyone and you should never feel like you've just gunned down the person in front of you for saying "sorry I'm not gay" and make them your worst enemy.

Very well said. I don't really want to be confronted with the gay agenda ingame, but I certainly don't mind its being involved. Also I'm afraid they might butcher existing characters for its sake, but I'll put my faith in Bioware's writing. Character progression has been fantastic so far.
