After my last topic on Shredder Ammo, there's basically an overwhelming
consensus that it's ****. The only reason anyone would ever use it is
for aesthetics, or to purposely gimp themselves.

'Say, OP, why would anyone be dumb enough to do that to themselves?' FOR THE LULZ, mainly. So here's a challenge for everyone:

Play Shepard as gimped as possible, using the worst powers and weapons in the game, in the hardest missons.

An example (needs Gibbed):

Shocktrooper Soldier
Adrenaline Rush
Concussive Shot
Fortification
Shredder Ammo
Inferno Grenade
Avenger
Predator
No Squadmates
Horizon/Collector Ship

HAVE FUN!

I am sorry, but anything that includes Adrenaline Rush isn't gimped. That one power is so over the top powerful it can take a teacup and make it dangerous.

I know, but its a precedent to Concussive Shot. You need to have some points in it. Doesn't have to be all 4...

You can't have more than 1 bonus power...the game doesn't allow that.

If you want gimped, then only use the Avenger. Only use the points you're given at the beginning of the game (what is it, 5 to 8???). No using class power and if that means you can't unlock another power so be it. Also, no more than 1 point spent in your class passive. No heavy weapons and no using health.

When I read "Shep the Gimp" I thought you were going to talk about Shepard's unusual limp when he walks slowly. I feel let down.

That was what I thought as well.

As far as intentionally "gimping" a character goes, I've never found it terribly fun or interesting in any game I've played. Sure, there are fun ways to play that are sub-optimal, like playing a Claymore Soldier and using ARush as a type of Charge, but intentionally gimping my character e.g. not leveling has never been appealing for me personally.

EDIT: That said, if you do manage to pull off a successful playthrough with an intentionally gimped Shepard, I'd love to see the video footage, if you have the ability to capture and post to youtube, for instance.

Tried that yesterday on Horizon...only had ARush, shocktrooper and lvl 2 incendiary ammo(for some reason, I couldn't change my bonus power to shredder ammo), using only avenger and predator, got thru the first fight, but it was boring as hell so I quited ;P

Got it recorded, but it was the usual shoot from cover(with one eventual mad rush into a Collector Guardian, wich almost got me killed...funny stuff)

I think people are slightly missing the point here. Whilst on one hand it was supposed to be the least-optimal build for a playthrough (and btw, you can add more then one bonus powers with a save editor - hence Shredder Ammo and Fortification), it was still supposed to be crafted with some thought. Just making do without powers wasn't my intention. It was to create the most-optimal build using the least-optimal weapons and powers (Heavy Shredder Ammmo, Area Inferno Grenade etc.), but I left it open so you could make that descision yourself.

Here's a clearer example of what I originally meant:

Hardened Adrenaline Rush
Shocktrooper
Heavy Concussive Shot
Area Inferno Grenade
Improved Shredder Ammo
LV1 Fortification

There's a really good series of youtube videos by thisisme8 called 'controlling the battlefield'. In the first few episodes, he makes frequent use of the Avenger and Concussive Shot, and not Adrenaline Rush. He's basically gimping himself in order to teach people how to play the game. I just wanted to gimp myself for fun (if such thing is even possible).

I would love to record myself playing, but I'm on the xbox, and I've got no capture card (though I'm seriously considering buying one). It was just a thought process to see if anyone could pull it off. Unfortunately, the poster above said it was boring to play

Tried myself and i ended with no bonus power at all, if I give you my save, would you edit it for me?

It may be boring for me, but it could be fun for someone else. Also I wasn't on the right mind set( I just kept spamming ARush and I'm playing others games atm... ;P) to try it.
- It's possible to pull it out?
- It is!
- It will be fun?
- Depends, maybe with some more time it can be(again, I just did the first fight in Horizon and went to bed)

With gibbed, I was able to get 2 bonus power. And both have to be bonus power (slam, stasis,etc). I mean, I can't give to an Infiltrator Incendiary ammo. At least, that's my experience.
And if you go the console on the Normandy for advance traning, both powers are removed and you get 1
