with the vague paraphrasing of the dialogue tree. i think everyone wants to know they can be positive/paragon towards their mate garrus/kairden/whoever, without romancing someone you did not intend to.

pink dialogue would help this, as we dont need to guess what shepards intent is when we pick a line that sometimes does not come out the way its paraphrased.

i know dragon age used icons. but i think coloured dialogue is easy enough.

Some game sites saying "previously straight chars now available for both
m&f chars" not necessarily true. Will have some new LI's in #ME3

Paragon, renegade, neutral have nothing to do with being homosexual? Come on, are you even trying?

para, rene, and neutral all shape sheps personality. none of them suit homosexuality. yes i know he might not be the pink pants lisp type. but it doesnt suit his personality.

they should have worked it in from the start, or not at all.

anyway forget that. what do you think about pink lines?

Worked fine in DA2,  but, your logic on what suits homosexuality makes me giggle.

I think this is a good idea. And I agree with what you said concerning changing characters. If they weren't gay in the first 2 games they shouldn't all of the sudden become gay in the final game. Though I disagree concerning Shepard's sexuality. Shepard is an extension of the player and thus can be whatever the player wants Shepard to be. That's the point of role playing. But it shouldn't come at the cost of completely changing other characters. My 2 cents.

Please no. We should THINK of how to be flirty. We should try the line which the character would most appreciate. If you tell me what's the flirty line, half the fun is gone.

Blah, blah, blah,  you can hate the game (It's story was...  lacking) but that little heart kept you out of ninja romances which is what the opening poster is suggesting, ergo it worked fine.  Sure, it took out all the fun and some guess work... but it did do what it was intended to do.

Doesn't mean the intention was a good one.

ninja romances hahahaha

@ evil johnny - being flirty/friendly is easy if you know exactly what shep will say. but mr paraphrase sometimes gets confused

I don't know.. I think being overly nice or flirtatious in return to somebody who is being flirtatious or showing their feelings toward you are pretty hard to ignore on what the heck is going on.

I mean.. do we need "Have you ever had a RL romance?" option in the game? If you select No, all the pink text and hearts come out for the player to know what the hell is happening.

I won't lock this thread (at least not right now)... however, I think the idea proposed would be worth discussing in the same-sex romance topic pinned to the top of the forum. Although I would suggest the OP consider why he/she chose "pink" over, say, green, or orange, or something else... .

Green.

pink looks too much like red and someone will start b****ing about how they thought it was a renegade option.

Sure I don't care about the color as long as there is a color.  Pink just seemed to equal love or romance lol.

No please, that will end up being something like the DA2 wheel.
I'm sure the choices will be obvious, such as:
Garrus: "Hey so I was thinking if we could go see that vid tonight?"
Shepard:
1) "Let's make it a date! ;)"
2) "Sure buddy, wanna get any ladies in on it?"
3) "Um no, I'm good, thanks."

Well if you wanna continue your bromance, I'm sure you'll pick the middle one...And not the top one, and if you're really agaisnt it you'd pick the bottom option.

Wait where in the game does it say that shep isn't gay and I don't mean having romances but the game TELLING that Shep is straight(male or Female).

And what about about femshep is the only way for her to be confirmed gay is to sleep with liara? what if she hates her and aliens in general is my femshep no longer gay?

It's funny that people seem to think that Dudeshep has a "canon" personality but femshep can be whatever she wants.

EDIT

I don't mind shep accidently falling in a romance I just hope he doesn't sound like a douche telling the other person he doesn't  fell that way about them like mine did to jack.

Jack: I.....I've been thinking about what you said

Shaperd: GO AWAY YOU **** can't you see I'm reading

Jack: ***** you

All because of a misunderstanding

Pink looks too similar to red.

You will get people thinking it's renegade.  (especially if they're using a SD TV)

Green or Orange would be better alternatives.

I'm so in support of this. I can't tell you how many times ( on my 78387489374 playthroughs ) I've accidently launched into a romance with someone just by my Shepard asking questions.

Shepard: Gee, Miranda, you really feel that way about yourself?

Miranda : Yes, thanks for asking. Now I'm interested in you.

Shepard: Wait.... what?

It's IRRITATING. When you select a line that looks like Shepard is going to be concerned for his/her crewmate; it's actually a line of seduction! Even when not intended! Then you look like a big dope. =/

Just do it like this:

[Flirt]

That way, we know what we're getting into, but Shepard's horrible pickup lines can still take us by surprise ;3
