but its clear to me that whether through the paraphrasing or through the romance flags not being hard enough to tick, people are worried about accidental romancing. especially now that there will be many more options

I hate when games baby us through. Sorry but even in DA2 when it was obvious you were flirting, **** still poped off if you ignored the flirt options. What we need to do is make sure these accidental romances don't come in by not making every character bi.
Sorry bro, but whether a character is Bi or not won't stop accidental romances from happening. I get just as annoyed by this no matter who the character is.
Sorry Jack, I liked you, but I didn't want to romance you. So now you rot in the bottom of the ship insulting me any time I want to talk.

makes me feel like I have to select a flirt option or o**** romance is off. Just like playing a renegade. Pick the renegade option or you risk not having enough points to pull off badass speeches.
and the bisexual crap isn't helping.

The last thing this game needs is to take a page out of DA2's book, holding our hands with a flirt option.
Agreed. DA2's icons were just stupid, if people hate RPGs so much that they can't be bothered reading a tiny sentence, they shouldn't be playing RPGs. There's no excuse for replacing dialogue with color coded icons just so people don't even have to be bothered reading 5 words.
Honestly, DA2 was at the point where any given Point&Click adventure game offered a better implementation. Something's seriously wrong when "Monkey Island" has a better dialogue system than an RPG.

Hey baby want to see why they call me big John?! Which normally fails but is amussing to see.
OH wait wrong sort of topic....hmm honestly I like the system as is, but if they are going to bisexualize the hell out of it, leave some sort of ****ing obvious hint of flirting.

they should make it painfully obvious witch line starts you on romance path so people don' manage to accidently hit it without realising it (I’m not quite sure why people keep doing that tho, most the time is was pretty clear) but after that they should not hold your hand. The only romance I think of where it seems like you actually had to be compatible with the character rather than them liking you so long as you’re not a complete **** to them was Jacobs.
Actually during ME1 romance could be started just by being friendly. In fact the game tries incredibly hard to put you into a romance, that GUIDES were made to help players avoid them in preperation for ME2.
Then ME2 came along and it got better. However ME2 suffered a little by mislabeled dialogue choices. Try to be freinds with jack without romance. I DARE YOU.

I won't lock this thread (at least not right now)... however, I think the idea proposed would be worth discussing in the same-sex romance topic pinned to the top of the forum. Although I would suggest the OP consider why he/she chose "pink" over, say, green, or orange, or something else... .
valinties day, romatic harts are typically pink.

some of us are dense as bricks when it comes to relationship type stuff. (the game is educational)
i had no idea tali was intrestested or that i was even fliting with her.
i'm for the pink dialog option, it would help me stay monogomas and not be such a cheating harlot.

Colour identification - wonderful. At least something to better understand my char better. Hm, pink for common romance lines and PINK for something like femShep/Jacob's "I'm more interested in just talking to you"?

No. I think its more than that. I kinda hate how everything is spelled out for us, Like before I choose a renegade option I KNOW its a renegade option. now, whatever. some people dont want to be renegades accidentally so making it clear is fine. Well, whatever. Now they want to make it obvious I'm flirting too? I enjoyed thinking about what to say, trying to find a balance between flirty and jackass. with a "flirt" option it really just ruins the intrigue.
You enjoy trying to figure out what your own character is saying?

Maybe, I mostly play femsheps and this problem seem to hit male sheps more. I can't remember if my male shep got ninjamance or not. It’s been a while. I never got fully ninjamance by Kaidan or Liara tho. They ask you about it, you say no and that was the end of it. *shrug* Perhaps this is bugged in other games or my femsheps are just not nice enough to them? lol.Nashiktal wrote...

Just have a "disable color coding" tick in the settings.

In the first game there was still a chance to screw them up if you said something wrong.
In the second game they became excessively simple, but still a slim chance of failing. (Really hard to mess them up though.)
DA2 introduced the flirts symbols and it took all the fun out of the romances.

No, I'm fully against lines that will lead to a romance being highlighted. They cheapen the romances because it takes no thought at all if they're highlighted. Its basically a decision on who you want to screw and not actually doing anything for it.

Are we not allowed to suggest that homosexuality is stereotypically tied to the colour pink? Oh heaven forbid we suggest anything like that.

I also have to admit that the whole 'ninja-romance' thing is definitely present. Take Ashley vs. Liara as a for instance. In all my ME1 play-throughs, I had always ignored all the NPC's on the ship. As it turns out, this meant I missed out on Garrus' personal mission and a lot of cool dialogue. So the last play-through I decided to make the effort to periodically talk to all of them. I made a concerted effort to flirt with Liara, picking all the dialogue options that I thought would advance a romance, and purposefully avoided doing the same with Ashley.
Yet, I still got the catfight scene. I was quite taken aback. Ashley's so desperate for attention that she'll take any male's interest in her as being flirtatious
