Regarding this staff from the "Return to Ostagar" DLC in Dragon Age: Origins 1.04:

dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Corrupted_Magister%27s_Staff

The staff has a modifier called "Possible Paralysis".

Anyone know which effect(s) this modifier causes?
  • The staff user is occasionally paralyzed when using the staff.
  • The staff's target is occasionally paralyzed when the staff user casts spells.
  • The staff's target is occasionally paralyzed when the staff's default projectile is fired.
I did a forum search, but the only other thread I found was talking about whether the staff can be upgraded to a higher tier (it can't, according to the wiki entry).

Thanks!

I haven't done any actual experimenting, but I'm assuming that normal attacks can occasionally paralyze enemies. They won't make a weapon that paralyzes the person using it.

Yeah I assume it's a similar effect like a paralysis rune, which has a chance to paralyze enemies for a time.

It RARELY will paralyze an enemy BRIEFLY as in less than one second and even that is rare. it is good for an ice mage though as the cold damage increase means a lot of foes go down with freeze then one arcane bolt. I use it on my mages, so far I like it with Morrigan and my warden, he two hits whites, three (add stone fist or lightning) on yellows with this staff.

Cold damage increase? The staff increases spirit damage by 15%, and the projectile does physical damage, according to the wiki.
