Let me go on the record and say that i love Dragon Age 2, it is really great. After buying it on the PS3 i played and finished it three times in a row once as a warrior, then a rogue and finally a mage, but the one thing that disappoints me is when i play a female character all the armor is so bulky and covers every inch of her, I wish there was sexyier armor, the type that uncovers her long legs and flat stomach, low cut to show of a little clevage.

You know the type of armor that you could imagine would cause the male warriors and yes even some female ones to hesitate and underestimate her, just long enough for her to turn them into bloody pools of goo, the only armor in the entire game that comes close is Isabellas custom armor.

Is it just me or does anyone eles out there wish the female characters could look sexy in battle?

To be honest i'm on my fouth play through now and i've resorted to wearing only gloves, boots and a helmet, so she does look sexyier getting splattered in blood in her underwear, and i swear some times the enermy does seem like it hesitates that split second it takes her to appear behind them to stab them in the back.

Yeah Knights always went out of their way to make sure they had as little protection as possible on the battlefield, because I mean.. its not like armor is beneficial in any way. As for making it look more femenine, Badassery and femininity dont really go hand in hand. You can pick one, but you will lack the other. Badassery is better then femininity anyway.
Plus stupid looking feminine armor is something often found in JRPGS - Which tbh is below dragon ages standard =P

I often look at every second woman and think, "She needs to be disembowelled."

Oh come on!  There's nothing sexier than cleavage with a sword rammed through it, dripping blood and lungs.  Am I right?

Certainly some people think so.  Thankfully they are more than a few standard deviations away from the norm.

He might be thinking a pirate is someone that would sleep with anyone at the near drop of a hat, whether man, woman, or crossbow.*

*And for the record, I'd be just as disgusted by the shallowness of a male version of Isabela.

Men who do that are jerks. Women like that just have healthy sexual appetites.

That's what I've learned on this forum.

Which is refreshing because everywhere else it's the other way around.

You're really not improving the image of women there.

With all do respect, I hate everything you just suggested.

When in battle people should be completly covered in combat appropriate attire, regardless of gender.

Indeed, A true warrior would not 'hestitate' at the sight of exposed flesh. In fact he or she would take advantage of that weak spot and hack at it. A siingle sword strike to naked exposed thigh would be game over. So let's just hope that in future installments, the aim of pleasing the hormonally driven 14 year olds doesn't take precedent in game design, all for the love of higher sales.

Most mage 'armour' outfits, either male or female were awful though. and not practical. Sure, the stereotypical Tolkein style mage has long robes but for combat they would be more of a curse than a blessing. Forever tripping over ones own garments whilst trying to run around would be the norm. More mage outfits that are either shorter, or with pants would be a vast improvement.

And talking of armour, I was disappointed to note that in Act 3, the statue of the Champion in the Docks area looked nothing like a Mage, let alone my Hawke Mage. Instead it was clearly a warrior, in warrior armour.. Could not the designers have a least varied how the statue looked based on the role you chose to play ?

I think there's a difference between what you're calling feminine and most women who play DA call feminine.

I personally loved the look of the female Champion armor. I've only played for mage and rogue, so I can't speak for what the warrior one looks like, but I think both are pretty feminine and sexy.

I could be wrong, but I think most women who play DA, myself included, don't want their characters to run around in underwear looking armor - its unrealistic, and kind of objectifying women. I guess if they had male armor where men ran around in their underwear, then it would be fair, but still unrealistic.

Have to agree.  I'd rather my character wear something that looks protective.  Maybe it's just being jaded from too many years of playing MMORPGs and finding that the outfit that completely covers a male character turns miraculously into a bikini when my female character puts it on.  Makes me feel more immersed to look the part of the warden or the champion.

I like a little mix here and there. I like having the protective/realistic armors but having a couple "sexy" armors for fun doesn't hurt either.

Especially on mages. Mages should have the option to dress sexy. Its not like robes need to offer much protection- thats what magical protection spells are for.

Warriors- well, showing off your middriff is more than likely to get a blade through it.

Rogues- unless you are the kind who *never* gets hit and armor is more of a disadvantage- you should be wearing some kind of leather armor.

Agree w Wulfram - I also like the rogue and warrior Champion armours - I never got as far as mage armour in part 3, I really disliked the mage gameplay, so I quit just after the deep roads. .

And armour is definitely good to have - I grabbed Witcher2 when it came out last night (European time) and *boy*, am I getting my butt kicked whilst waiting for some armour to show up...

I appreciate everyone's opinion about my little question, and against my nature I'm going to clarify a few things people have brought up. Firstly i find it humorous that some people think just because the armor covers your entire body you are more protected, please remember this is a game where talking about if a full suit of armor gives you 100ac or just your boots do you still have the same protection, and the fact that you could think it's more realistic that way, if you believe for one second that having leather cover your forearm would stop a broad sword from chopping your arm off you are very much mistaken.

And as for warriors looking more like prostitutes, picking two characters from television and movies lets go with Xena and Red Sonia, both very powerful and assertive woman, both very sexy and deadly, so what is wrong with wanting your female character to look like that instead of looking like there men.

I'm not asking for my characters to have big boobs and no brains i don't even like woman like that in real life i certainly wouldn't want them in a fantasy game world, I'd simply like the option for my female characters to show there sexier side once in while, how is that wrong.

I have no doubt there are male and female gamers out there who do not agree, and you of course are entitled to your opinion, just like i am entitled to mine.

I want my warrior and my rogue, as well as my mage to be well protected in battle. It's very unrealistic to put them in skimpy outfits that reveal the most vulnerable spots in the human anatomy. Mage armor/robes need to be protective as well.

My warrior warden looked smashing in the Warden armor. I loved it. If there was any kind of revealing armor (that might as well include a big, red target) available, I certainly would not put on any of my battle women.

So in DA:O people talked about the armor being to skimpy, now in DA2 the armor is not skimpy enough.

I swear all the Bioware employees must be bald from tearing their hair out after reading these forums.

On the other hand, there is ONE person who want skimpy armour and support it with lots of garbage, while nearly everyone else sigh of relief at one of the very few points where DA2 didn't cave in for the retards.

So it's not exactly like if the opinions had changed a lot since DAO.

As it's pretty obvious, I totally agree that armour should look protective first, and sexy is irrelevant for anything not ceremonial.

Isabela already looked ridiculous going into battle in just a chemise, do we really need more? This isn't a JRPG ffs.

Are you sure about that? The game is super linear with lots of railroading. And have you met Fenris yet? Or weilded Hayder's Razor?

Armors are not that much important when it comes to Mages and Rogues. Heh, even in real world, past 15th century, full body armors were being less and less used. Sure gunpowder changed things but is that so different than magic in DA2? I see no reason to not let players outfit their char the way they want. As great as plate armors are, an unarmored person could achieve just the same level of survivability by being more evasive, nimble and agile.

I could see warriors like barbarians or woad raiders only being outfitted with pelt/cloth but still using a shield and doing just fine.

What this game needs is just to GIVE AWAY the editing tools so that players can create mods easily.

You offer me an occasion to be geeky, thanks ! :D

So, yes, there is a big difference. The whole, entire reason why gunpowder became prevalent was that guns could be produced cheaply and massively, and that they were easy to use. They could arms lot of people with easy-to-handle (it's much easier to fire a gun than a bow) and easy-to-produce weapons, that could penetrate armour.
Magic, on the other hand, can penetrate armour, but is the exact opposite of gunpowder : rare and not accessible to everybody (well, according to the Codex at least, in-game there is about one inhabitant in three that is a Blood Mage, but that's another point). As such, armour keep its usefulness, as few are actually easily able to bypass it.

I see no reason to not let players outfit their char the way they want. As great as plate armors are, an unarmored person could achieve just the same level of survivability by being more evasive, nimble and agile.

In gameplay terms ? Yes.
In reality ? Absolutely NO. Which is why people developped armour rather than just jumping around.
