Why is there no feminin looking armour in Dragon Age 2

Firstly i would like to say i pretty much agree with everything Blue Face Beast has said throughout this discussion including there opinion on Aveline.
Secondly after i spoke of wanting lighter more revealing armor for my character, many people commented on lack of protection easier to get killed, gutted flayed whatever, the game its self tells you quite clearly the enemy goes for heavy armor first, this is not logical or realistic but it is a fact, so having one or more warriors in your party will cause 90% of enemies to ignore you and go for them leaving your skimpy armor rogue to mop the floor with them, i was only ever talking about the rogue character hence my comment about appearing behind them to stab them in the back, of course your warrior women should be kitted out more like Joan of Ark preferably with a good shield.
I have just completed Dragon age 2 for the forth time, on this play through i stuck to the normal difficulty just to have fun, my female rogue never wore chest Armour and thanks to her high defense due to really high cunning she never died once, did i want her to play the whole game in her underwear of course not but without the option to put her in sexy armor it was my only option.
I understand how my original comments may have caused a little controversy with some people, some men and of course some women do not want there characters to be scantly clad, and yet some do, so all i am saying is would it really be to hand to put an in game function where you could design and create your own armor, where you could choose what materials it was made from and how much of the person's body it covered from revealing there underwear to fully covered bulked out armor plating if that is what you prefer, is that really so much to ask for.
Yes i know there are tool kits and people can create there own armor on the PC and import them in, but wouldn't it be better if it gave you that option to begin with, let sandal do it he's meant to be a genius savant when it comes to enchanting surely a bit of armor tinkering is nothing to him.
All i was ever saying is you should have the option to kit out your party to look how you want them to look, not be forced to wear ugly bulky armor, and I'm not saying it is all ugly, but when you put armor on your female rogue and theirs a two inch spike protruding from her chest and shoulder blades that does not look right or feminine in my opinion.
And finally when i commented on skimpy armor causing the enemy to hesitate just long enough to be killed, i was again referring to the game mechanics which reduces the threat detection of rogues causing the enemy to seek out your heavy armored friend along side you, at the end of the day i was referring to the game, this is a game forum.
I do not for one second mean to imply all women should walk around with barely any clothes on, why comments about porn have surfaced during these discussions is beyond me, i never once mentioned nudity or wanting to see my character run around naked, and how anyone can associate playing Dragon age 2 with watching porn is a complete mystery.
Thank you for listening, peace be with you all.

On the other hand, Bethany here on this picture looks sweet. Of course she exposes her shoulders alot in this light chain armor but fear not, she is a mage and have other ways to enhance her defences.
And anyway, just bring ugly Aveline in the party and most enemies will want to kill her, leaving your rogue and mage free to showoff in their sexy costumes

Personnaly i find absolutely nothing feminine about Aveline. She coudl be a guy and a would not make the difference. She is one of the ugliest char of DA2 imho. I hate her face with a passion. I do not like her voice much either. I would take a Leliana anytime over an Aveline. Leliana clearly looks like a woman.
Holy CRAP you are shallow.
Pretty much what this all boils down to is 'Women aren't women if they're not wearing lacy dresses, and I don't want to play an UGLY girl :(" Because ugly women aren't 'feminine', right? How precisely does a woman 'look' in order to qualify as a woman to you? Like, what's the cutoff point? What about women with small breasts and short hair? Do they qualify? Clearly Hawke gets a pass despite her mannish ways because she's got a comely face and huge knockers, right?
All of you in here whining about 'feminine armor' are goddamned embarassment. You are why women cannot have nice things. Disgusting.
Edit, because it was too damned stupid to ignore:

The armor should be form-fitting and show the curves of the female character, because the character otherwise looks quite bulky and manly.
I don't think the armor should be sexy, though...or revealing.

It is a fantasy game and i want my hero and my party members to be good-looking. Got a problem with that? I could not care less about your opinion on this. You like what you like and i like what i like.
If i could play the game with my whole party wearing magical g-strings that would protect as much as full plate armor i would do it. I do not care one second about realism, anything goes with magic. I'll use blood magic and summon demon that would grant my wish. Simple as that.
And yes, Aveline is an ugly girl. She gets the job done but she is still an ugly girl. If i could replace her by someone as competent but better looking then i would do it right away. Why does it annoy you so much? What do you care about me modding my game in my house and play it the way i want? Why do you care, really?

I think it's more about Hawke being inherently attractive more than the armour. But that's not to say that there isn't armour that supports her appearance. While I made a Hawke that looks absolutely nothing like this one, there is a certain attractiveness about the Smuggler's Banding the Rogue gets after year one.
Just shows, females do not need to wear revealing clothes to look good. In fact, generally I'd say its a better idea not to. Sadly, generally men respect women who were revealing clothes less than women who don't.
This Hawke looks strong, confident, empowered, prepared, and in charge of her own destiny. Incredibly sexy imho. Ready for any kind of action.
OTOH, scantily-clad women appear to be vulnerable and looking for one particular kind of action.
Different strokes, I guess.

Wait, what? Just because I like armor that enhances my character's features, in a fantasy game, means that women cannot have nice things? Wow, I hope I'm just missing some sarcasm here.

Hmmm.... Methinks 'tis you that qualifies for having the personality of a teenage boy.
Edit: Can't readily find a full body picture, but the armor Alice wears in Alice in Wonderland is feminine and functional.

Edit again: Here's the fight scene. Video quality isn't the greatest, but you can see the full armor.

I personally loved the look of the female Champion armor. I've only played for mage and rogue, so I can't speak for what the warrior one looks like, but I think both are pretty feminine and sexy.
I too really liked the look of the Champion armor on my femhawke. The mage armor looks awesome and doesn't hide her femininity. The rogue armor looks cool too but I prefer the mage design. I have yet to play a warrior but that will be next.

It's a video game. There's nothing wrong with wanting the characters to fit unrealistic standards. I can look at Avaline and say that she is manish, overlarge, and has a very unlikable personality.aduellist wrote...

And I can also look at a person in real life that is much like like Aveline without the swords and fantasy world and think she's awesome. Seperation of fantasy from reality.
There is nothing femanine about that armor at all. What is feminine is the person wearing the armor being of small stature and having flowing curly blond hair.aduellist wrote...

Wookie's question to those who support skimpy oufits:
So, Aveline is a horrible character because she isn't dressed like a WOW hooker?
Why must every female character be overly sexualised in an unrealistic way like the typical jrpg or mmorpg? I don't want to play those if I'm playing Dragon Age.

No, my understanding is that Avaline is a horrible character because she comes off flat and is somewhat boring. I don't own the game, so I can't say for sure. The criticisms of her being manish don't really mean anything in light of the fact that she is not romancable.OperatingWookie wrote...

Don't get me wrong--you can do anything you like with your own copy of the game. There are mods that give you revealing armors if you want to use them. You can have your character in her underwear if that's what you want. And if it is, more power to you. It's your game that you bought with your money, and you absolutely have the right to do whatever you want with it.
But please, PLEASE don't force me to use those sorts of things in my game. I like being able to play my own gender without having to be half-dressed. In fact, it's really kind've a beautiful thing.

Yeah IDK if she is romancable by the Hawke, but I had to suffer through an entire side quest about her high school romantic problems.the_one_54321 wrote...

Aveline is a fictional character with a ugly facial model, boring storyline, and a personality that turns people off. She also talks way too much.

Frankly, as one of the few companions to have a wisdom score higher than 3, I found Aveline far more likable and compelling than pretty much anyone save Varric. I'm kind of astonished by some of the extremely shallow thinking in this thread (well, I suppose not THAT astonished). It's especially insane since at worst Aveline is "hollywood ugly" which isn't ugly or even plain at all.
Anyhow, I certainly don't want the game to cater to extremely shallow thinking. Let mods handle people who want that.
