Aveline pisses me off. Stupid woman.

I agree. She isn't nearly meek or subdued enough for my tastes. Female warriors? Bah I say! Bah!

While I didn't like the angular style, I'm very grateful that they made the armor look like armor, and not the fantasy segment of a beauty pagent.

Like Amanda Jo Dragon, I too would like to see some armor at least that shows off the feminine traits of the female heroes. Isn't that one of the main reasons to play a female haracter in the first place? To have an alternative to a masculine character?

The addition of more scantily clad armor or armor that shows off more of the curvateur of a woman's body is not going to hurt those that don't want it. There already is and I am DA3 will also have plenty armor that isn't changed from the male armor.

My huge problem is the fact that the armor on female Hawke completely alters the proportions of thr character model so that the shape of the body matches male Hawke. It makes me wonder why have a female character option at all and Mass Effect and Dragon Age has had me wondering about that for a while now.

I agree. We should remove gender customation completely and go with a set, predefined protagonist. Character creators are overrated.

Female body armor is not the same as male body armor, period.
It's true in the military. Why shouldn't it be true here?

So I guess guy armor isn't right unless it has a large cod piece and other "manly" accessories?  I mean, it is just like female armor unless it is sexualized, right?  Surely the main reason people play male characters is because of their sexual organs.

I don't want my character to run around half naked or naked, I like to see my female character fully cover. If bioware want to add flavor, add it in the romance scenes.

I agree that my female character should be wearing armor that's just as protective as that of male characters. At the same time, I like to be able to tell that she's a woman. The solution is armor that's suitable shapely. I think DAII did it fairly well.

Eh, Aveline is a much more coherent and realistic character than some of the others. The idea, for instance, that Isabela was ever capable of running a ship when she has almost no sense of responsibility is pretty laughable.

Frankly, as one of the few companions to have a wisdom score higher than 3, I found Aveline far more likable and compelling than pretty much anyone save Varric. I'm kind of astonished by some of the extremely shallow thinking in this thread (well, I suppose not THAT astonished). It's especially insane since at worst Aveline is "hollywood ugly" which isn't ugly or even plain at all.

Anyhow, I certainly don't want the game to cater to extremely shallow thinking. Let mods handle people who want that.

I think the people who HATE Aveline the most are the 23 and under gamer crowd.  <_<   They still live in 2001.

I think the armor in DA2 is plenty feminine. I think some folks misunderstand the term "feminine." There's nothing feminine about going into battle in inadequate armor. That's called stupidity.

Wow those those pics look ancient after playing the Witcher 2. Makes me feel like I went from playing DAO to looking at NWN pics.

You mean in the military females dress like this?

If so then you have a point. Otherwise no.

I don`t think we should have chain mail bikiny or any kind of those anime type/asian style armors which completely fall out of any logic. But at least what Aribeth has in NWN videos and poster screens is in order. Women should`t carry that full plate crap.

If you look at the Witcher 2, they made both robes for sorceresses and armors for warriors looks perfect -

Sorceresses wears a high quality regalia, and no condoms on heads (except maybe Shila), while the robes both in Dragon Age 1 and 2 looks pathetic. They are just downright ugly - and not just on females, males looks like escaped patients from psychological clinic.
The only good looking robe for a mage is the champion armor. Instead of wasting resources and time on re-using/copying ugly robes from DA 1 they should create 3-4 new robes with at least quality as such as the champion armor. Also i absolutely dislike the fact that hairs suddenly disappear every time you equip helm slot - that cowls and hoods should be either removed from game or made properly like Meredith has.

And warriors - the armor that Saskia carries in Witcher 2 exactly resemble how the armors for females should look like. The model used in many of the armors are practically the same as the ones for males, which is totally wrong. I really wish wish wish not to see the ugly armors from DA1 ever used again, but if DA 3 is going to be rushed - we get the same crap all over just to save money and time.

Aribeth armor is totally ridiculous, she has her chest totally exposed. Anyone could shot an arrow an pierce her heart. Even more easily, shot an arrow to her neck and be done with it.

Armor should not leave vital parts of the body exposed. Aribeth armor totally fails at that.

And this Saskia has the very same problem. She at least is wearing some padded armor under the plate, but she leaves it open <_<

I do agree that The Witcher did a wonderful job on armor and robes. But that's a matter of taste.

It is a fantasy game and i want my hero
and my party members to be good-looking. Got a problem with that? I could not
care less about your opinion on this. You like what you like and i like what i
like.

If i could play the game with my whole party wearing magical
g-strings that would protect as much as full plate armor i would do it. I do not
care one second about realism, anything goes with magic. I'll use blood magic
and summon demon that would grant my wish. Simple as that.

And yes,
Aveline is an ugly girl. She gets the job done but she is still an ugly girl. If
i could replace her by someone as competent but better looking then i would do
it right away. Why does it annoy you so much? What do you care about me modding
my game in my house and play it the way i want? Why do you care,
really?

Liking pretty people is not the same as hating ugly
people. The same way modding your own game is not the same as flaunting the fact
that you did.

The latter, which you imply, is an awful opinion to have.
And ppl should care and point out because it's the same philosophy that drives
so many bosses to hire only pretty looking women and not women like Aveline.
It's a fact that many face IRL. You may be so out of touch with reality that you
don't care, but have you thought about what ppl who look like Aveline might feel
when they see your post, knowing that you'd take their job away just cuz you
don't think they're pretty?

That said, I wouldn't give Aveline a job. Not
because she's ugly, but her terrible personality.

ROFL.. from "armor" to people wanting only "pretty character" and "insecure" womans that might get hurt by what other people likes/want/desire.. lol!

Anyway this armor is very nice:
