Don't see how you can say that.  She's one of the more sensible characters in the game.

I agree with Speakeasy. She has an incredibly annoying, holier than thou attitude and her social ineptness particularly in romance is astronomical.

Eh, she believes in law and order serving the greater good.  I don't see how this is "holier than thou" though.

You're so right. No way a guy would ever be caught dead wearing this

You completely missed the point being made. Or else you're trying to act like a different point was being made so as to devalue what was said.

Different here did not mean sexy or revealing. Women have different parts than men do, and their physical equipment is usually designed differently as a result.

Aribeth armor is totally ridiculous
And this Saskia has the very same problem.

And they both have access to magic. It's fantasy. There's magic and enchanted weapons and enchanted armor. There's no strict reason why armor needs to cover people to be protective. Unless the game specifically tells you otherwise.

Believing in law and order is not the same as putting down others who don't to the same degree. The way she trivializes Varric's lifestyle and downright dismissing Isabela for no legitimate moral reason other than the "law" she made up in her mind is just uncalled for. And if that isn't holier than thou I don't know what is.

If she does believe in a greater good it's definitely not the same greater good I believe in. I don't see how anyone with such supposed moral standard as she made herself to be can be supportive of mage oppression. And the reason for her stance on the issue? Her own failure to resist.

The woman has superiority complex. And she needs a therapist.

Yeah, because they difinitely don't lie, cheat, and steal to/on/from innocent people all the time. AmIright??

Well then do your job and arrest/kill them, if you really are as righteous as you claim to be. That attitude she puts up is both anti-productive and hyprocritical.

Like Amanda Jo Dragon, I too would like to see some armor at least that shows off the feminine traits of the female heroes. Isn't that one of the main reasons to play a female haracter in the first place? To have an alternative to a masculine character?

So I guess guy armor isn't right unless it has a large cod piece and other "manly" accessories?  I mean, it is just like female armor unless it is sexualized, right?  Surely the main reason people play male characters is because of their sexual organs.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Still, I agree with your points.  Sexualized female armor simply shows an inability or unwillingness to accept women as equally capable and professional warriors.

I agree with that much. Same goes for Mage Hawke. That whole crowd of people should have been executed at some point. Probably early on.

It is a fantasy game and i want my hero
and my party members to be good-looking. Got a problem with that? I could not
care less about your opinion on this. You like what you like and i like what i
like.

If i could play the game with my whole party wearing magical
g-strings that would protect as much as full plate armor i would do it. I do not
care one second about realism, anything goes with magic. I'll use blood magic
and summon demon that would grant my wish. Simple as that.

And yes,
Aveline is an ugly girl. She gets the job done but she is still an ugly girl. If
i could replace her by someone as competent but better looking then i would do
it right away. Why does it annoy you so much? What do you care about me modding
my game in my house and play it the way i want? Why do you care,
really?

Liking pretty people is not the same as hating ugly
people. The same way modding your own game is not the same as flaunting the fact
that you did.

The latter, which you imply, is an awful opinion to have.
And ppl should care and point out because it's the same philosophy that drives
so many bosses to hire only pretty looking women and not women like Aveline.
It's a fact that many face IRL. You may be so out of touch with reality that you
don't care, but have you thought about what ppl who look like Aveline might feel
when they see your post, knowing that you'd take their job away just cuz you
don't think they're pretty?

That said, I wouldn't give Aveline a job. Not
because she's ugly, but her terrible personality.

Seriously man, it is a game!

Do not even bring real life matter into it because it is of no concern to me here. What happens in real life stays in real life. What people faces in real life is irrelevant to what i experience in my DA2 game at home.

Do i have a tought about people who look like Aveline in RL when i play DA2? No sir, not one second. I separate games and real life. In a game, i have no problem impersonating a terrible person like a serial killer, an amoral racist, a kinky ****, a mage rapist or an ugly girl hater. I can roleplay just anout anything and have a good time doing it. It is called "evasion". This has no bearings whatsoever on what happens in real life.

I do not care about the PC bull**** some people are talking about here and i do not care about realism. In DA2 i could throw out Aveline out the party for whatever reason i could think of and being ugly is a good reason enough for my Hawke.

There is no problem about hating ugly people in a game really. The same as there were no problems mass murdering people in Grand Theft Auto which i did very often by just rolling over them with a coatch i had stolen by murdering it's driver. IT IS A GAME. Anything goes.

And i still want magical g-strings for my party. G-strings with force fields. Better than any standard full plate mail ever.

I also dislike playing with Aveline mostly because of her personality but also because of her looks. And I'm not sorry if that hurts someone's feelings because that's only normal for people to want to play with good looking people IN A GAME. Yet I'm not saying there shouldn't be any ugly characters even playable characters. But Aveline just isn't likeable to me, usually ugly characters have a really special mindset that gives them a charm ( and that can be true with real people too).

Now that I think about it, the theme of this post also reminds me that I found it really bad of Bioware to make a special skin for Isabella and not for the other (they look too much like normal human and elf females except for their faces). Makes me want to always keep Isabella in my party!

First of all, GTAs are action games and DA2 is (supposedly) an RPG. If you don't care about realism, maybe you shouldn't have picked up a type of game whose majority of fanbase obviously do.

Second of all, however egocentrically you want to play your game in your own basement is not our concern. But if you insist on playing it that way (which is generally not how most ppl play RPGs), I suggest you go back to your basement and play it.  The moment you decided to, on a public forum, rub your opinion in ppl's faces, it stopped being a private affair. Disregard for PCness only works if you have a valid, formed opinion beyond the "I like it" self-absorbance.

Lastly and not least, I hope you are terribly attractive IRL. Bcuz if you're just a real looking person like the rest of us and you would deny oppurtunity for ppl who look like you, then I appears you need more self-esteem.

I wouldn't call her ugly. But her fashion sense does leave much to be desired I guess. I seldom judge a character just by her physical appearance, but the way s/he dresses too. And in terms of art design Aveline really looked uninspired. I liked the intial concept of an Amazon warrior with huge biceps that isn't the typical curvy/skinny female body dichotomy, but her end models didn't convey such at all. Rather she ended up looking like FemHawke wearing low lvl armor. Hell, she actually is the most petite of all female characters. Just go back and compare.

Someone replied to me: " If you don't care about realism, maybe you shouldn't have picked up a type of game whose majority of fanbase obviously do".

Ok... Let`s talk about realism.

Anyone here can show me real-life woman medieval plate armors? Or any woman medieval armor for what matters.

Oh right... I think there were like 1 or 2 women ever known to have openly carried weapons and weared armour? Like Joan of Arc? And i am not even certain that they really fought in real war engagements, how could they have when we know male knights had to train daily for years just to master horseriding, weaponskills and armor maintenance? I think that at most these women were more of a symbol than real fighters.

So it is very hard to say how medieval armor could have looked on women because none were ever especially crafted for them. There were no market for this. The few of them only wore men armors.

But now, how can we even talk about realistic armors for women ( or men for what matters ) when we talk about a fantasy game that adds the big "Magic" concept over all that. Like i said above, anything goes in a fantasy world with magic. Even women gets to pick up swords, act as city guards in full plate mail or become legendary amazons shooting with bows while wearing only a g-string. I see nothing wrong here. It is all fake. Nothing to do whatsoever with real-life.

You're conflating societal abstracts (female warriors in medieval Europe vs female warriors in Thedas) and "real world" functionality of armor designs.  Those are two very different things.  We know that female warriors are normal on at least Ferelden and Free Marches society, so your argument is invalid and has no bearing on the question of the efficacy of a given armor design.

I think your talk of a G string woman is upsetting people man you should realize that there is a difference between beautiful people in a game and beautiful people in g string in a game that's just going too far for serious play anyway.

FYI Joan of Arc, which i mentionned above is ONE woman. Maybe the only woman ever known to have wore armour and fought in an actual real war. I do not deny this. On the contrary, it only shows how rare it ever was and i doubt Joan of Arc ever spent over 15 years training into warfare mastery like most young male nobles had to.

Joan simply was the exception, i am still waiting to learn about all the tousand other women who carried swords and wore armors in medieval era. Where are they? Know any names? And what of their armors? Had they armors especially crafted for them?

I don`t think so. Truth is women in armors and fighting like men during medieval era is pure fantasy. But DA2 is a fantasy game so it is all good. Let`s just not insist too much on realism thought... There is nothing real in DA2.

Just because it's a fantasy game, doesn't mean you can get away with anything. There's something called immersion and this is broken if the game world doesn't stick to it's own rules. In DA lore, a sword will kill just as effectively as in real life. Also there is a concept of modesty in Thedas, much like the real world. Hence female warriors in G strings makes no sense at all.

I mean going by your reasoning, I want las0r guns and space shipz and Tsar bombs in DA!!!!1111 ITS NOT REAL!
