The wiki's trivia section for the Summoning Sciences quest gives this piece of info:
"Arl Foreshadow is a reference to Lord Foreshadow, a character who could be found in the BioWare game Baldur's Gate, spouting mostly trivial comments about the (at that time) upcoming follow-up game, Neverwinter Nights."
I suspect that the book titles and accompanying notes are hints in that vein, or complete red herrings. The first one could be a clue that Orlais will be a future game/DLC setting. The second a reference to the OGB (that we know of, or perhaps one we aren't aware of) or some other entity that has yet to be revealed. The third...well, maybe a Dalish elf is actually immortal and from the ancient civilization (heck, maybe Flemeth was there visiting). And the fourth - well, I figure that one was just for giggles.
Half-formed theories on my part (I'm only into my first cup of coffee), but the titles may just be little crumbs to get the players talking and speculating. Something to keep us immersed.
