Well of course he will side with the mages - he's a mage, and a revolutionary.
I was more gobsmacked by Orsino's heel turn (if you side with the mages) and all the other quests where mages attack you even if you're heavily pro-mage. A lot of Chapter 3 is highly illogical.

Even if he sides with the mages how would he feel he could fight against Hawke after you save his life and let him go?
I think there is too much Justice in him to be human >.>, I would've hoped that he fled Kirkwall because he wouldn't be able to fight someone who let him live after something that he's done.

I also do agree with Act 3 too :<, I really hate the fact that they are all saying that you're working for Meredith >.<. They even kidnap someone close to you without even ruddy bothering to investigate further T_T.

When I sided with the Mages and Orsino still felt the need to transform, even though we were winning. The biggest WTF moment for me was Anders going full retard, though. (blowing up the chantry)

I've got to agree that Orsino on the mage side ending is it for me. It made little sense. He seemed so reasonable and coolheaded before that and then all of a sudden without warning he decided we have no chance of winning and becomes a monster and as a result, endangers his best allies and leaves the remaining mages without leadership.

That scene was done so much better on the templar side. It made much more sense and was pretty well written, especially Bethany's involvement if she joined the circle. Really, the whole templar-side ending was done so much better than the mage-side ending. Unfortunately, I just can't choose that side most of the time because it sickens me to side with Meredith, and I'm forced to lose Anders in the process no matter what due to that bug.

It does play out so much better if you side with Meredith, like Merrill's Act 3 quest if you don't give her the knife :/.

If you side with the mages you should at least have the option of stopping Orsino from casting the spell. That is just so WTF.

Yeah if you support mages initially, then meredith becomes more hostile and insane.

If you support the templars, she seems rather normal and rational.

Bioware made it so whichever side you are inclined will seem "non-insane" at the time of playing, so you don't feel like your forcing yourself down the road.

It took me 4 playthroughs to be able to side with the mages. Becuase of all the insane mages I was having to deal with, I thought that yeah, Anders finally went ape-scat. I never sided with Merideth persay, but I figured if she didn't dissolve the circle the town's people would riot and kill every mage they came across. Although, publicly killing Ander's I think would have given the same effect as dissolving the circle IMHO.

Took me four playthroughs to side with the templars, and even then it left a bad taste. I didn't much enjoy that playthrough. The mages are numbnuts but given that Hawke has magic in his line (even if he is not a mage himself, Bethany is, and his children might well be if he has them) I can't side against them.

WTF moment for me?

The fact that Hawke practically never manages to save anybody.

Leandra, Bethany, Carver, Seamus, Viscount Dumar, etc., etc.

Hawke seems to be completely incompetent at anything that does not involve evisceration.

Anders blowing up the Chantry.
My first playthrough, when I saw that happen...I imagine the look on my face must have been priceless.
To quote Varric, "I think my jaw just landed in the Deep Roads somewhere."

That moment destroyed me, and the Orsino moment when I sided with the mages. Nothing's threatening you, then, BOOM! "I can't take this anymore." Take what? Having someone defend you successfully?

Orsino really needed an extra cutscene of something horrible happening or something if you side with the mages. He's supposed to be crossing a Despair-event-horizon, I get that, but it happened right after I mopped the floor with Templars, they didn't even make it through the corridor and Orsino suddenly thinks it's hopeless?
WTF?

When the statues in the Gallows came to life and started helping Meredith in the final battle.

I actually stopped fighting and stared at them for several seconds. Really couldn't quite comprehend what was going on because it seemed sooooooo out of place and immersion-breaking to me.

Meredith letting mage!Hawk live after they get blasted by the Qunari was a little bit of a wtf considering she encourages a policy of "apostates running from the Circle are okay to kill."

The Arishok fight was wtf because I got owned so hard it was actually hilarious. I was expecting something like a dragon fight that was difficult/hard to damage, rather than 2 hit KO.

Ander's act3 rivalry (templar siding) is broken currently. So it will auto-default to him attacking you if you side with the templars..

There's a patch comming to fix it, I swear! They said so!

My bit wtf moment? Anders blowing up the chanry. I was obliviously, blindly, lovingly following him like an adorable puppy-eyed-hawke.

Then? Boom.

8 full playthroughs now and I still haven't forgivin him enough to finish a second romance with him ;p

For me, having my female mage romance Anders - right after getting into the Gallows it's all: "Oh, you do want to run away with me? That's great! Let's go have tons of mage children! We can raise an army! I mean family. Family is what I meant. Oh, you want to defeat Meredith first? Really? Oh, Hawke, you're so silly, doing things out of order like that thing with Merrill's Keeper."

I was seriously playing through that conversation with this facial progression: ^_^    :pinched: <_<.

Looking towards the future is one thing, but... Fugitives running for their lives doesn't exactly scream "good parents". Nor does possessed-man-rapidly-losing-his-sanity sound like an ideal father.

So that's my big WTF moment, at least with Edith. Arish was more 'pissed' than 'wtf?' when Sebastian proposed to her, considering she's a total jerkface. Chantry + randomly killing people who are annoying? Yeah...

Ohhh.... I forgot about that... ha ha. I was so mad at him. Just wanted to shout "you complete idiot!!!". Hmmm.... If there had been a possibility to give him a good shake I would have done it. No murderknife, I like him to much for that. But he would have had to sleep on the couch if he had been staying in the Hawke mansion that evening.

He gets left behind on that mission now. Traitorous little wretch. Image IPB

Similar moment with Anders grassing me up for dealing with a demon and getting Feynriel turned into an abomination, I was glad Hawke had the chance to tell him to shut up though.

Sometimes Hawke would do things with out my permission that made me mad. Like telling Cullen that some of the Templars might be possessed or even worse stopping 2 possible Isabela/Aveline catfights.

During Act of Mercy, where we first meet Decimus and Grace.

My mage Hawke, Anders, Merrill and Varric approaches Decimus, fully intending to help them escape.

Decimus: Look! Templars!
Me: WTF?!

Seriously? Three mage and a dwarf approaches him, and he screams templar then tries to murder us all? *facepalm*

Blackpowder Courtesy...killing the annoying dwarf with the murder knife. His expression when I stuck my murder knife 6 inches in his skull was a WTF moment.

I wish we had more murder knife situations like that. Excellent humor...in a dark way...

I love that scene! I did it accidentally on my aggressive playthrough, but instead of Anders, it was Fenris standing there giving Hawke a look like "damn, that was cold". Which somehow made the whole thing extra hilarious.

Sorry for the double-post, but this is definitely my favorite WTF moment:

During "Enemies Among Us", after freeing Keran from the blood mages, Anders turns to Hawke and says, "When you talk to Ser Cullen, maybe downplay the blood magic angle. We don't need the templars cracking down even harder."

The next scene, Hawke (whether diplomatic, sarcastic or aggressive/pro-mage or pro-templar) marches right up to Cullen in the Gallows and dramatically blurts out, "Blood mages have infiltrated your ranks. They've been implanting your recruits with demons!"

And Cullen is all "Sweet Blood of Andraste!" with a totally panicked expression.

Cracks me up every time. Well played, Hawke.
