For everyone saying that 360/PC owners got gipped on this ---

We paid full price for our Mass Effect 2, and we don't get Mass Effect 1 at all.

You own a PS3. You don't deserve it. :) </friendlytroll>

Worst part is i'm considering buying an Xbox and rebuying the whole series and all DLC.

Damn you bioware!

The PS3 users can't import ME 1 saves, they can only use the comic, of course they got it for free then. I don't disagree with PC/Xbox 360 gamers having to pay for it, but they price is too high i think.

Either way i won't buy it because of the horror stories i have heard and well, i want some of the choices it does not include.

**** that it should be goddamn free, bioware get your head out your ass and stop pissing on your existing customers.

who ever buys this is a tool and are the exact ones that allow developers to scam gamers with DLC.

Math obviously isn't your strong point.

How about you clarify what is wrong with my maths ?  The guy clearly said you needed to sit through the intro's twice if you use the save game editor and that IS NOT the case.  You can create a new save game in the save game editor or alternatively you can edit an existing or downloaded save.  As long as you tick the option "has finished ME 2" you can then import it as an ME 2 save and hey presto you only have to sit through the intros once.  So again how is my maths "wrong" ?

Why the hell does MS use points anyway. I dont know how much 320 points is.

Four bucks? Thats the only even division I can think of.

Of course it could be like three dollars and twenty cents...

Mass Effect Genesis is now available for both the PC and Xbox 360.

I have a suggestion for those who do not think this is good value: Don't buy it. This is an option for players who have played Mass Effect 2, but have not played Mass Effect 1 (or have, but lost/sold/traded their copy before ME2 came out) but still want to set their plots states in saved games for ME2 and ME3. It is a cool little video that allows these plots to be set while knowing the context of what has been chosen.

It is not intended to take the place of playing Mass Effect 1. ME1 is a great game and you can definitely enjoy yourself playing through the first game making different choices and saved games. This is an option for those who want to set them quickly without needing to replay the entire game repeatedly.

As with all DLC, if this isn't something you want or don't see the value in buying, don't get it. Pretty simple.

Edited: Priestly's right, I think. Everything that's been said already reflects some of my thoughts, anyway, so dismiss this.

Edit: Man, thats like a milkshake. People are weird with their spending habits. "Ill go out and spend 50 bucks on a steak but four bucks for a comic! SCREW THAT"

I'd never spend fifty bucks on a steak, but then, I don't like steak. :o

I'm just saying I always think Americans are illogical with their spending habits. Going to a movie with your girl will cost 20-30 bucks minimum for 2 hours of entertainment, but buying a 30+ hour game for 60 bucks is a bit of a stretch.

I like to do the entertainment dollar math thingy

Movie - 10 dollars per hour of entertainment
Game - 2 dollars per hour of entertainment (and thats if you only play it once)

Well thank god for Gibbed Editor for Xbox, it's free, takes 5 minutes,  it's easier than ever, and it can log minute decisions that are missed by ME: Genesis, like boxes for all of the ME1 assignment options.
How to mod ME2 for the Xbox 360 - updated 5/3/2011-

I even wrote a new tutorial.

Still,  if you've never played ME1, I suppose the comic can still do a "graphic retelling". Guess this is the first Mass Effect DLC I won't be buying

We don't go to the movies more than a couple of times a year. It has a lot to do with not being impressed with the majority of what's put out in theaters, but it also pertains to the formula you just jotted down. The two work in sync, really; if there's a good chance based on the previews that we aren't going to walk away satisfied and we're dropping twenty bucks, why bother?

Conversely, we do enough research into gaming to know what titles will appeal to us the most. And since the bulk of the games we purchase give us at least thirty-plus hours per playthrough, we're almost always happy with our purchases.

Oh, and we're American. :P

Nah, not worth 320 points (not worth anything imo) and replaying ME1 is much more fun, which I've been doing for the past few days.

Don't feel singled out Mr. Crichton. I'm American as well. It was a generalized statement : )

320 points is like £3 - thats less than I pay for a pint in my area. Seriously, its a virtually meaningless amount of money that can give players who've never played the 1st game a chance to understand the story better. It can never replace the experience of ME1, but remember ME1 was a long game and I personally don't think its gameplay has aged well so this comic is the best way for ME2 players to at least get some feel for the backstory.

I won't personally be getting it because my ME1 copy still works, and I've heard that ME3 will feature something like this anyway so I can just make some new Shepards then if I want. I just don't see why people are getting so worked up about something so inexpensive. Besides, doesn't Microsoft partly decide the cost, not just Bioware?

Haha, "Mr. Crichton". I have several people on the BSN calling me something to that end. It's pretty hilarious... and more than a little awesome.

So now, instead of making my life easier, it's made it harder to the point where I now can't even do the Gibbed edits as quickly as I used to (which wasn't very quick to begin with). It's actually made the game WORSE, not better.

How do I get a refund?

Actually, nearly all the gibbed edits take up 3-5 minutes all transfer time included. The only time you'd need to take longer is for sitting through the actual intro if you're making a brand new shep, which is something you'd only need to do once a playthrough. You can actually start a new game, save immediately after you wake up in the med bay, and save this particular save file for modding.

All the ME1 history choices will take effect after leaving Lazerus Station,

The Season 2 freakout scene on the exploding cargo transport was the best freakout scene in the history of television.
