Really Bioware? 4 bucks for something that is completely free for ps3? I think that is really disrespectful to pretty much every xbox/pc user. What ever keeps the cash-cow fed right Bioware?

Whether you think it is fair or not, it is their product they have a right to charge you for it, besides we 360 users have been able to actualy experience ME 1 since day 1, we don't need the comic.

So, if I've played tons of hours of ME2 without having played ME1, can I now download this Genesis thing and have the decisions I make in it affect my finished ME2 Sheps?

Yeah I know, but maybe I dont want to play through ME1 for the sixth time. Yeah I get it, they can do whatever they want with it, doesn't make it right though. Especially since 360 users have to buy the vanilla game and buy all the dlc's seperately. You would think Bioware would just give it to us as a will of good gesture. But obviously that is above them. Whatever, I really don't care. I have come to expect this type of thing from Bioware by now.

No, you'll have to do another playthrough. You could import the finished ME2 Shep and do a new game+ though.

I'd buy it, if the comic was actually good.
Sadly, it isn't.

I'll stick to replaying ME1 anytime I need a new Shepard.
And as many people pointed out already: why should PC and xbox players pay for something the PS3 players got for free?

Your definition of "free" needs work.

Compare the price of the PS3 version of ME2 with the PC version.  You may have a point about the Xbox, but I don't care about Xbox, so...

If someone justify's why we have to pay 3-4 pounds more just because we have a 360 then it might be worth its price.

But just because a mods told us that if we think its overpriced we shouldnt buy it, doesnt mean that we have to shove it and not complain.

I have no need for it, so I won't be paying for it and downloading it.

Even if I did need it and could pay for it, I wouldn't.

Its not even worth it. Its not that good. Plus, 4 bucks for what's essentially a 15 minute video?

Pass.

Mass Effect Genesis is now available for both the PC and Xbox 360.

I have a suggestion for those who do not think this is good value: Don't buy it. This is an option for players who have played Mass Effect 2, but have not played Mass Effect 1 (or have, but lost/sold/traded their copy before ME2 came out) but still want to set their plots states in saved games for ME2 and ME3. It is a cool little video that allows these plots to be set while knowing the context of what has been chosen.

It is not intended to take the place of playing Mass Effect 1. ME1 is a great game and you can definitely enjoy yourself playing through the first game making different choices and saved games. This is an option for those who want to set them quickly without needing to replay the entire game repeatedly.

As with all DLC, if this isn't something you want or don't see the value in buying, don't get it. Pretty simple.

What about players who have purchased Mass Effect, still retain their existing copy, have played it to absolute death and thought perhaps they could have an option to make the major decisions in lieu of another extensive run? No, instead of rewarding them you response with this knee jerk post, essentially attempting to defend what know is an overpriced piece of rubbish. Do not kid yourself in believing it will lure potential new customers. Hate to break it to you but if people have not latched on to the franchise by this juncture there is a probability they are simply not interested, ME3 notwithstanding.

You may sugar coat this in whatever manner you fancy but the facts remain. This is BioWare/EA nickel and diming the fanbase. Instead of rewarding them we now look to alternative options, such as modding the game or finding torrents. Glad to see you indirectly encourage this. Incidentally, Mass Effect is not a long game and if I felt like a speed run I could knock off all the choices carried over and finish it in under eight hours.

Normally, I prefer not comment, and you are technically correct, however this post is purely meant to be condescending and inevitably would provoke the fanbase. Frankly, it would be best BioWare did not comment because evidently you are not about to concede this is dirty.

First I wouldnt call this a DLC but It is good to see that they are still working on ME2 partly. I hope to see at least one more small DLC pack for ME2. I mean we will be waiting for ME3 for quite some time (dont get me wrong I am glad it got delayed) and we really should get another reason to replay ME2.

They're charging for it? This piece of crap? Unbelievable.

I hope you are being sarcastic, they have a right to charge you for their product.  If you don't like it then don't buy it.

No I wasn't. I also have the right to an opinion. And I think if they're gonna make it available to PC and 360 it should be free or it shouldn't be available at all.

Someone sounds like they have a sense of entitlement, the world doesn't work that way, if you want something you have pay for it that is the way the world works.

kotor effect, you sound like you really don't know what your talking about. the fact that they released this pos for a 16 month old game, on the only platform that you could own the original game for in nov 2007 (42months ago) means that it is useless and pointless. no, no one is making anyone download this, but who on the xbox who has played me 1 and 2 (not to mention several times) would be happy to pay for something they have been investing the last 4 years into? for a quick 15 minute fix? Seriously? C'mon, completely ridiculous, maybe bioware will hire you for marketing since you seem to understand their stance.

If you think it is useless and pointless then don't buy it, it is that simple.  I have played both ME 2 and ME 1 several times so I don't need the comic but if I wanted to have the comic why shouldn't I pay for it?  You are the one that doesn't know what they are talking about.    I don't know if you understand the concept of capitalism but maybe you should look it up,  you sound like someone with an overblown sense of entitlement that wants a free handout.  And considering that you referrred to it as a pos why should you care if they charge for it?  You are not likely to get it afterall.

casue this pisses me off enough where i felt the need to post my opinion about it (the point of these boards as a matter of fact). Oh, and maybe I am looking for a free handout, would that be so bad for bioware to let us have this silly little comic for free this far into the cycle of mass effect? I'm not buying this and I do think its pointless and useless. It is indeed pretty simple

Problem is that the PS3 users would be justified in complaining that something they paid for was handed out for free to PC users, who paid less for ME2 to begin with.

Even so, now that I've had a chance to try it, you're not missing anything.  I'm uninstalling it.  I've found that it makes gameplay less enjoyable.  They are really doing you a favor by not enticing you to install it.

Had the comic started immediately after creating a  new character or, as I originally thought, been a separate executable entirely, it might have been worth having.  I don't mind that I donated $4 to BioWare.  I'm just irritated at how poorly the comic was implemented.  It's not going to keep me up at night, though.

You seem very invested in this.

We do live in a capitalist society and for the most part thats good. Although I'm Canadian (so is Bioware) a place where absolute Capitalism isn't as beloved as other places. (Healthcare!)

An act being capitalistic does not become automatically justified. Capitalism isn't a magical-always good system.

I think you'll find most people upset by this, are upset more about the symbolic-whatever of charging us for something playstation got bundled with the game.

Noone believes that bioware OWES us this for free. This isn't about entitlement.  Surely noone here has considered legal action against bioware for not giving it out for free because they owe us... because thats crazy, and noone thinks it. (infact this insinuation is rather insulting)

but it would be a nice gesture from a great company to its loyal fans. A small gesture (being that the content is 15 minutes long and also convenient for those who don't wanna have to do a full playthrough of me1)

but we didn't get a nice gesture. Instead we got a condescending post from Chris Priestly.

I'm going to wait for the inevitable comic that will incorporate both ME1 and ME2. That actually may be worth spending $5, so I can avoid replaying every scenario.

Haha this DLC is SO late. It could have been more or less ok if it was before last DLC. But this DLC gives me hope that Bioware will release some DLC for BG2!

Looks like this thread hit a nerve.

Good luck getting people to pay that much for something that lasts 15 minutes, has a chunck of the story missing, has 99% of the decisions missing and is ****** poorly implimented.

Having ME1, I was never going to download this anyway, but christ what a rip off.  I can buy a full game for that price.

If it had to be released at all then at most it should have been free.

And people seriously think that Biowares ethics haven't changed since they were bought by EA?

This is greed. Pure and simple greed.

I'm actually quite thrilled with this release. I haven't re-installed ME1 since I reformatted my computer, but I really wanted to play ME2. I made a new character, and found myself hating the default decisions placed on me (particularly with Udina!). I was playing through anyway because I wanted to play ME2, but I really wanted to change those major decisions.

Then I logged onto the forums and found out that I now can. I've only played long enough to get Garrus and Mordin, so starting over with Genesis wasn't that much of an issue.

So I'm thankful for this release.

Edit: I leave for Europe one week from today and I'll be gone for five weeks without my computer. I don't have the time to play both ME1 and ME2, so this was also a relatively cheap way for me to get a backstory that I wanted for ME2 to play the game one more time before I leave.

If you don't want it, don't purchase it, but complaining that it's a terrible release depends on individuals, their circumstances, and what they are or are not willing to pay for something. Sure, I could have gone to eat at McDonald's instead of purchasing Genesis, but... I can live without that and eat something in my apartment instead.
