I have been playing DA2 since it came out. I still have not finished my first play through. I guess I am slow LOL. But...that is what I love about it...it reminds me of BG2...which was the game that got me into PC gaming. Developers...producers...fine job. I LOVE it.
Well, finish the game and then let us know how it was.
It can't be that immersive (or brilliant as you put it) if you still haven't finished it after all this time?
Now I'm not saying it's a bad game, I'm on my 4th playthrough and I'm loving it.
What I am saying is that your opinion doesn't carry that much weight not having managed a single playthrough...

What do you want I say? I really enjoy with DAO, performing all options for several months. I was awaiting DA2 as a man on the desert prays for water! I'd been anchored, loyal, faithfully... I've given a chance and played it, at least, 6 times, to explore differents Hawke's stories... And today I've bought TW2 (4 years awaiting with same expectation for DA2) and... well... no words... I begin asking myself if I'll have been not fooled by EA marketing... as so many fools...
And DA2 10€ more expensive!!!!!
Is it any good?

I'm not sure about brilliant, but it was better than DAO.
On a technical level, improved some parts more than others.
On an Artistic level its like comparing 'The story of the eye' by Georges Bataille to Penthouse letters page.

I'm not sure what your errr...analogy means, but it has to be said that on an artistic level DA2 is WAY BETTER than Origins.

agreed , Da2 was good but DAO was excellent . Hopefully DA3 will take the best of both.

At 2007 I was quite surprise wiht graphic levels of The Witcher; TW2 for me, at the moment is great: ligths, environaments, scenarios, details... about the story line, I'm already at the begining!!
Anyway, it looks what it must to be: better that the first, as second part has to be! (and unfortunately in most games almost never are).
If you liked TW you'll probably enjoy this TW2.
Will I be banned by saying all thats thinks here? I still love DA!

I still have yet to hear anyone who prefers DA2 explain exactly what DA2 does that, on balance, improves the gameplay experience.RinpocheSchnozberry wrote...

So I take you've moved on to playing something that isn't DAII then?

"Discover a whole realm rendered in stunning detail with updated graphics and a new visual style." they say!!
and once you arrive to Kirkwall you feel... fooled! The interiors have the same decoration, furniture, vasses, paintings, carpets, seats... OOOHHH!!! its a nightmare!!!!
I enjoy Hawke's history, the companion's dialogues and rivalities, combos, etc, etc... but... I don't kown if I explain myself clearly... the damned scenarios....

Glad that you liked it, though calling it brilliant is as redundant as calling it trash, it's not a bad game, it's not a great game either, it's quite.. mediocre.

Personally: removing the sustained ability effects made it alot nicer to look at and let it run an awful lot better on my computer, not to mention it makes a lot more sense; for all the "Button Awesomz!" and " 'splosions" talk that goes on here, the fact that when I tell a character to do something they actually do it is a massive improvement, as opposed to watching that guy go for my mage for a bit, swiveling on the spot, then moving to attack them, they'll actually intercept them; my character being able to show emotion, partly through dominant personality but mainly by simply having a voice, meant they felt more like a real character and not an inanimate, person-shaped camera I was watching the story through.Sylvius the Mad wrote...

There are some of my reasons. I bet you disagree with all of them, but I like DA2 and you (I assume) don't, so why would we agree? If you agreed with me then one of us would have to change our opinions, not likely to happen.
Also, there are areas where I prefered DAO too, I know this, personally I think both games come out about equal in the end, I can't clearly put one above the other anyway. Again, that's my opinion, I'm not saying one game is better than the other, just talking about my experiences with them.

I only can say the concept of the game is brilliant, 10 years's spam for a single game is quite challenging to make, but the game itself is just ok, did not deliver its promise
I agree!
"Discover a whole realm rendered in stunning detail with updated graphics and a new visual style." the say at its web!
You see its concept art images and you believe this will be a great world.... then it is happen: you arrive to Kirkwall with your family and you begin to find the same interiors, same furnitures, same trees, same lands, same doors, so you finally can't recognize the place or building where you are cause it is exactly the copy of the one you where before! (even I'm repeating myself!!!, It's contagious!
Anyway, I realize that if DA2 seems a really good game is because the Hawke's story is well designed despite criticism. If not, it would be impossible to play. Or just re-played as I've done.
