In an RPG you don't have to bend the mechanics to the story. RPG's are as much about the rulesets and mechanics as the story and the rulesets and mechanics come first. Then the story gets built. If you keep having to walk over established lore and mechanics to tell the story you are doing it wrong.

The statistics, the mechanics, the ruleset, the lore, the character sheets full of info etc. All of these things are the game, paryt of the game, part of the fun. Start taking away all the rulesets and mechanics, start limiting the players knowledge of them or ability to act within the ruleset and you start to diminish the RPG and you might as well just make devil may cry 18 (it has characters and levelling up and stuff).

I think the game is a lot of fun too. Yes it does have some flaws but I enjoy it enough to get past them. I love spamming Tempest and Firestorm after a nice pull of the abyss and Gravitic Ring set up. That to me is what makes the game fun.

I completely disagree.  First, I think mechanics are part of the lore.  They should design the setting first (both the lore and the mechanics), and then write a story that fits within that setting without contradicting it.

The ToT, all the works done to transition to 3E then 4E, it was mindblowingly silly, and got to the point where they got away from the spirit of the Realms.

I would agree the ToT was silly, but then I always thought FR was pretty silly anyway (I was always more of a Greyhawk fan, and the Greyhawk Wars were a terrific transition - there was even an excellent Greyhawk Wars tabletop war game that wasn't unlike playing Axis & Allies on a hex grid).  My point is that these changes need to be explained within the narrative for them to make any sense.

Otherwise the rules of gameplay become entirely divorced from the in-world events, and that leads to some very bizarre circumstances where characters will make decisions that are obviously absurd according to the lore, but tactically sound within the ruleset.  How can you possibly roleplay around that?

Mages rules!!.. Gosh deja vu! I thought I was in warcraft!!! hehe I miss my mage from wow, I suppose thats why I have so many in DA2.. going for number 5! not counting 4 rogues and a lvl 8 warrior. :P

I started out thinking it was awesome. But now that I'm almost done with it there are so many things that ****** me off about it. I still am having a good time and look forward to picking it back up each time. But the thing that annoys me the most has to be the reused areas. My god this are getting on my nerves. It would be one thing if the areas were interesting. But they were not that interesting the first time I saw them. They seem very bland, uninspired and not very "fantasy", if you know what I mean. Not to mention how lifeless they are. Hardly any people, animals, etc. The Wounded Coast is just painful. Just a bunch of sandy trails. And some of the dungeons are awful. There are a few that are ok but overall this does not have an epic fantasy feel at all.

Right on Sista!  I felt that they were slightly underpowered in this game but they are still mad fun to use.  I found myself switching to Bethany and Merril quite often during combat when I was playing as a rogue or warrior.  Had to start a new mage since my last two were destroyed by the Isabela Slo-mo glitch.

The setting is the foundation. Making an RPG is like building a house. Without a strong foundation the entire thing is liable to collapse.

My point is that these changes need to be explained within the narrative for them to make any sense.

I think the rules of combat should always strive to be self-consistent, and this includes cut scenes. If the game wants to have ogres crush NPCs one handed, that should be evident in the gameplay and the rules. 

I don't mind if combat is stylyzed (personally, I like it) so long as it is both coherent and consistent.

areas....Environmental Immersion.... rain... sensation of getting wet... Able to learnt the moment of the day looking the sun and its gradual light...
Don't play first TW2 and DA2 after... you're surly never thing it is a brilliant game

I found the game more enjoyable than not for the most part, but DAO is better. I particularly liked that the combat was faster, but the continuous waves grew tedious after a while. It gives a different experience to DAO that's for sure.

The thing that saved the game for me was the dialogue, the conversations between npcs, and some of the things the pc could say on "sarcastic" were great. It helped me get through the tedious dungeons, and some of the Fed Ex quests. This game didn't have the care taken with it that Origins did, but it was still enjoyable, at least to me.
