Seriously though, it's hard to get ninja'd on a hetero LI why would you think it would be even faster for the non-hetero LI's? You can see how the conversation is going and shoot them down or even reload if the need is that drastic.

In addition to "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" being softly played while Shepard speaks the lines.
And strobe light effects...
Anything else we can do to make it obvious that we are starting a romance?

Hi in Dragon Age 2 BioWare introduced a new conversation wheel with icons which helped you whether it was a diplomatic, aggressive or a flirt dialogue. You should'nt take it over to mass effect. Why?
Well i noted that when i was playing Dragon Age 2 i only looked at the Icons and never read what my Hawke was going to say. In Mass Effect 2 i always watched at what i was going to say but still it was too easy because the dialogues in the up are paragon and in the down are renegades. I rly hope that you are going to change that in a good way.
It made sense to only look at the icons. The paraphrases tell us nothing anyway. I want better (which means almost always LONGER) paraphrases.

I hate the paraphrasing that comes from the wheel in general, but at least with icons, I know how it's going to be said.

Well, the long paraphrases I can totally agree with. The 3 - 4 word paraphrases are annoying and very misleading at times, but icons would be a bigger mistake I think. It makes the wheel all color and picture coded, so why bother to read and not just stick with the pretty color we've been using...?

And yet people do that already. They choose a certain alignment and just choose the upper right/left option or the lower right/left option. In ME2 in fact, it is encouraged to do this as some interactions require a high paragon/renegade bar.

I agree, I ended up talking about "us" and "love" with Jack when all I really wanted was just to learn about her past.Fredvdp wrote...
I think it should be clear when a dialogue option leads to romance. They don't necessarilly have to make it an icon, but pink text for instance would make it clear enough.

I also dont see whats wrong with the indicators from DA2? I actually liked them, Dont see much of a difference between those and Red/Blue colored texts honestly.
and as for the paraphrasing in the wheel, It's been like that since ME1 if i recall, the paraphrases give the general "gist" of what you're gonna say but not in full detail. Design choice I guess.

i think limited use of icons or perhaps flat out saying what the dialogue choice is.
such as talking to a squadmate.
-- I'm glad you're on the team
-- im commander shepard
-- you look good (romance)
and just i dunno, put clear intentions in parenthesis sometimes to make it super obvious? no one likes a ninjamance

I assume this is image wheel type is being asked for as a way to avoid romancing a gay option how about shep and gay/bi new 3 character get on the subject in passing and that new character says that they like their same sex so players who don't want that will know don't pick too many paras and really listen to what that person is saying so they don't say something that could lead to that person thinking sheps interested. Or better yet that person comments about their orientation and won't ask shep to be a LI instead shep has to ask them to be their LI so you can talk casual and choose as many para dialogue choices as you want but that person won't assume shep wants to be anything but friends until shep says hey wanna be my LI?
And while we're back on the subject I'm opposed to ME original crewmembers (team dextro included) them being gay/bi they're already established as straight per social cues, in game actions, and the fact they all already pair off with their opposite sexed sheps. I could care less is BW makes brand new additions to the team that happen to be bi/gay I just want to be friends with them w/o them thinking that gives them the right to hit on my same sexed sheps they need to read the signals and know I'm friendly not LI material.

I agree, that's why I feel adding *More* of a reason to do that would be a bigger mistake than how the Para/Ren dialogue wheel is implemented now.

or a straight romance with a character i didnt want to when i meant to romance someone else.PlumPaul82393 wrote...
I'd be fine if there aren't any icons as long as it's pretty clear what I am going to say. I don't want to click for example is everything okay? and then have that start a gay romance.
im looking at you liara <_<
