As you can probably tell I have a certain druid werewolf in my party because, though his human form is abysmal, his werewolf form is a little bit fun. Especially as a statue on the Trademeet fountain.

My problem is this: Cernd keeps dying. It's not that the battles are too hard or him too weak, he gets a kind of charisma fail (can't remember the exact Baldur's term) and can't be resurrected/raised. Or well, he can, but he dies AGAIN immediately after. Ctrl+R gives the same results - repeating death.

Is it a result of him staying the wolf form too long? Is there a bit of magic sort it? (I'm not knowledgable on my magic lore, preferring instead to just bash stuff.) Or is it something else?

There is a save from before but I've since killed Firkraag and I really don't wanna sit through another 3 minutes of bashing a dragon. (God bless the dragonslayer weapons.)

Also, Cernd's baby. All our inventories were full so the baby got dropped (cruel game) and Cernd went off to the druid grove without his son. I chucked a sword, picked up baby and took him to the druid grove where Cernd rejoined my party. Baby was still there. Gave baby to Cernd, he said nothing. (What a loving father...)

Now, there's a child taking up space in my precious inventory. (Can't find a bag of holding ANYWHERE!! Is there one in Ch. 2?) Is it a glitch? Or meant to happen? Am I doomed to carry Cernd's future murderer forever?

I'd appreciate any help with both my problems since there's little about it on the net.

This is highly unlikely, but did Cernd and the staff of dominance get together? That reduces your charisma by one everytime you kill somone, and when charisma hits zero, you are dead. Or did he pick up some type of curse that reduced his constitution to 3 or 4? That would make resurrection difficult, but could be removed by a Remove Curse spell. As for the baby (!), if you have Airhead in your party she would make a good mom! You could try handing her the brat, dropping her from the group, and seeing if the tot stays with her, or bounces back to the PC. Are you using a lot of mods in your current run?

You says it's unlikely but it is that staff. I've been trying to save inventory space and since Cernd is always a werewolf in my party, I thought equipping weapons to him was extremely useful. Maybe I should read the item description next time. *fail* Thank you though. =)

As for the baby, I could try leave it with her - growing up in a circus might be fun. Just wondering what happened in other's people's playthroughs though. What happened when you did the quest?

And no, I don't use any mods.

A simple, cheesy solution to your charisma problem is to equip the ring of human influence (Ch=18) on Cernd and let him bash a few more foes. Once his Charisma hits 0, the drain will actually wrap it around to 25.

Of course even more simple is to just use Shadowkeeper to reset it...

The few times I've kept Cernd and gone thru the baby hunt, there was no problem. Maybe the kid didn't like the fact that his papa was either dead or dying - and rather repulsive to boot - in your run and crawled away from him, showing good survival instincts Posted Image

As far as the game is concerned, the baby doesn't exist anymore (he's supposed to take and destroy the item).

If it somehow ended up in a place he couldn't take it when he left, then just drop it off somewhere (it's junk now). He took his son to the druid grove to grow up, which should have been conveyed by the dialogue he gave when you went to get him.

Okay, first a foremost, thank you to you all. The ring of human influence is so far keeping Cernd alive - now I just have to remember to NEVER TAKE IT OFF. Oh, and never give him the staff of dominance/read the item description. *fail*

Repulsive? Lol, he's not too bad really. Having a werewolf for a father is somewhat better than having Bhaal - that's just given me all kinds of problems!!

I did get that dialogue but the actual item remained. And when I met up with him again, he said nothing about me carrying his son in my inventory.

He destroys a baby?! That's horrible!! Baldur's Gate is a cruel, CRUEL game...
