For personal reasoning and because he's not sterotypical in the least, and Shepard knows him throughout all three games.
At least that way all sexualities Shepards would've had a chance to know their LI since ME1.

i dont really think joker's sexuality should be explored at all. like he shouldnt be a romantic interest to anyone.
he's a comic relief dude, leave him where he belongs imo.
