What edition of the game you have (original release or Ultimate Edition)

Ultimate Edition

The format of your game media (retail disc, EA Digital Download, Steam, Impulse, etc.)

Retail Disc

What patch version

DAOrigins.exe is V1.04

Your hardware specs :

I have an AMD Phenom II X3 Mobile 2.1GHz Processor,
ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650 with 1GB VRAM on board
4GB DDR3 Ram.

Your specific version of Windows, including if it is 32 or 64-bit (example: Win 7 Home Premium, 64-bit)

Win 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

If you have any third party mods installed

No

Finally... a complete description of your problem, including what steps you've already taken to resolve it

I have only just purchased and started playing this game.
Every session the game stops working several times, it closes down and I get the Win7 message telling me "Dragon Age Origins has stopped working looking for a solution...... " which I click cancel as it searches continuously.

This has become very annoying as I am having to save every few minutes on the assumption that the game will just close down!!

I have my Graphic Drivers fully up to date.

You skipped right past the guide to reporting about a problem, and really haven't provided enough information. It's pinned near the top with the stickies there. It starts out "Read First", and you need to follow through with the instructions there, then expand your current report to match what it tells you.

Thank you.

Presuming you use Win7x64 (which you should have mentioned as Gorath Alpha indirectly wrote) there is no solution for the issue yet. They are working on the CTD for Win7x64 issue at the moment and hopefully it will be fixed with the next patch.

@Laxeybobby:

Not sure if it'll help, but I couldn't have played at all after installing the 1.03 patch if I hadn't found this:

Original Post by akanounnikoff, on the BioWare Social Forums under topic: "Bugs with 1.03 Patch",
http://social.biowar...ndex/1633999/31 (about halfway down page 31)

NOTE:  Using this fix takes a (very) basic understanding of Windows file naming, folder structure, and command-line prompts.

The "fix" enables the program daorigins.exe to use more than 2GB of RAM.  While this is simply delaying the impact of the (well known) memory leak, it was enough to make the game enjoyable, rather than useless, on my rig!

Lots of people play on Win 7 x64 without problems. For starters, I would recommend doing a full uninstall and reinstall of your video drivers in save mode. There's a "how-to" link down below in my sig.

After that, I guess we need to consider how long you play before problems show up. If it's more than ten minutes or so, the I would suggest you monitor your computers temps to insure there is no overheating.

Beyond that, some folks have found success with disabling one core on a three-core CPU... there are links on that in the Solutions Roundup (look for "processor affinity").
