And thanks again for the letter, SDT. Though, you might consider giving San Diego back, I hear California's been looking for it.

... did he really just say that?

No. You imagined he said that.

Quick! Give him a cloak of protection +4 and some Plate Armour! We need to get him out of here....

*They* are coming.

As much as I disliked the re-used areas in DA2, I never blamed the devs, just their evil masters (I count Mike as a dev btw :P)

I hope so. I also hope his future projects are better than his jokes on this forum.

haha I'm not bashing Mike. Jabba just asked a question where the answer was obvious, so I had to give the other answer.

Honestly, I don't blame Mike for DA2's shortcomings. If anything I blame EA. Mike's part of a team of developers and while DA2 had flaws it also had great things about it. If I ever make a joke about Mike, it's all in good-natured fun.

But I do hope that the world of Thedas can feel a bit more alive than it did in DA:O or DA2

@solstickan: Hej! *viftar*

@TEWR: Exactly. Blame their masters. They keep them on a short leash, which isn't something you should do to a company known for its epic RPGs.

As in, Button = Awesome? Or just Regular Awesome?

'cuz both things are two completely different... things.

Just asking.

Either way, it's nice that he responded to your letter.

Yeah, that Mike. Always swimming in his EA Scrooge McDuck vault cackling at the pain of True RPG Fans™.

I think it's pretty clear the whole development team cares about the franchise. And no I'm not claiming DA2 was flawless but neither did it "ruin" the IP.

It has managed to aggrevate most of the fan-base(judging by sales, which took a massive nosedive in about the third week). I thnk they'll be more cautios about anything related to the DA franchise(myself included).

one problem though is that some people are, and I loathe using this, PC elitists where their comments have been nothing but "Consoles have ruined great gaming!! Do you see what you have done to our world with those stupid things?!?!" and other such comments.

I've even seen a few comments where people blatantly called console players idiots. That pisses me off to no end, because I'm primarily a console player and I'm far from being in the realm of idiocy.

Regular Awesome is simply... just awesome.

Button = Awesome is... well, you know... :?

@The Ethereal Writer Redux (or whatever that dude's name was):
I haven't seen any PC gamer yet who has called console users "idiots".

It's a terrible generalisation, anyway.

I don't think i've ever encountered that argument for people disliing DA2. That makes absolutely no sense to me.

You should always have a degree of caution about anything you buy. DA2's reception had a lot to do with expectations and what people feel the DA IP represents, maybe moreso than its actual merits as a game. It had a few glaring faults, yes, but it also did a few things better than its predecessor and I think it's getting an irrational amout of hate from people who are taking it as a sign of the CRPG dying as a genre or something.

It's a game. I played it and I had fun. I don't regret purchasing it at release, but your mileage, as always, may vary.

I'm hoping for a longer dev cycle for DA3 and with what the dev team has learned from the first 2 installments I'm expecting it to be pretty damn good, but we'll see. And thats about all I have to say about that. I've been avoiding the forums since March because of all the butthurt and stale argument retreads.

well, I'm not saying that it's everywhere where someone calls console players an idiot. It's rare to find, but I saw it somewhere. For now though, it's nothing to fret about too seriously

Anyway ignoring the idiot part and focusing on the console bashing, over on the constructive criticism thread, someone called Kissing the Pink (I think) was bashing consoles and saying that PC games have been ruined. Page 90 or 91

They're basically like this:
1) Cross-platform is waste of resources, better spent making the PC version better.
2) Not just waste of resources, but they have to alter the game to make sure it's simple enough for console hardware to be able to handle in terms of graphics, controls, etc
3) Console users are more simple minded and to cater to them means making more simple minded games.

There, now you've seen it.

That last part offends me. I own both a conole and a PC, after all. But I can see how the previous two points can be argued. They do make sense, I suppose.

I hope bioware takes this feedback to heart, i know it can be heartless to watch how people strip appart the work that you have put so many hours into, but honestly, i believe the fault of the DA2 little success is in whoever was dealing with EA. Even if EA owns you bioware, other bioware dev teams has managed to make their point and gained extra development time if necessary (ex. delay of ME3 or the old republic). You need someone who can make clear to EA what happens when you rush your work and demand the time necessary to produce bioware quality games. I was glad to hear that bioware is taking her time with the next DA2 dlc, but i fear it may already be too late. Let´s hope it isn´t.

PS. About the whole PC/console thing, the problem with PC exclusive games is that the market is kind of small these days, bioware would need to either increase the price (i would support that fully) or try to get more audience on PC. In the end making the port to console is worth it because they sell a lot on those plataforms, so they will keep doing it.

An example of this:

"Are you a consoler. Do you lack patience?" .... implying that console users lack patience and only want instant gratification.
