People will not buy 'quality RPG's' from a company that decides to focus on a drastically different direction than they would normally expect from such a genre, at least not the same audience. In short, people will not buy a game if they think it's bad when there are better alternatives.

I don't think BioWare will be making terrible games only from now on. It's just that some people remain skeptical after DA 2 about future titles, or after the streamlining of Mass Effect. And the marketing. Or the developer responses to issues with their games.

Did I mention EA's plan to exploit BioWare franchises yearly?

Also I didn't know you had a seat on EA's board of directors.

"The first, he said, is pushing EA's stable of popular IP, including FIFA, Madden, Battlefield, Need for Speed, The Sims, Tetris, Dragon Age and other titles. The company will also leverage the popularity of labels such as EA Sports and its casual Pogo brand.

"We fully intend to make these properties into year-round businesses that lead their sectors across a range of platforms," Riccitiello said."

Ring any bells? Granted, this might mean we'll get more Dragon Age flash games and Commander Shepard keychains instead.

I'm not sure why people think they wouldn't listen to feedback or care about the future of the franchise. That doesn't mean they'll reach the same conclusions a given player has as to what that should entail, of course.

But nice letter. Thanks for sharing.

Well as for myself I wrote a truly massive review which covered a vast amount of things and put a huge amount of my own effort and time into it. I got no response or even a hint that it was read by any of the Bioware devs and reps, I even tried to have a good debate with them on certain subjects and they never respond so yes.. I do feel I'm wasting my time here and yes I do feel nothing I have said has been listened too. Not a single thing I have said has been replied too with exception of "Where's Chris?" being the only thing that warrented any response. Even tried debating with Stanley I offered up counter argument/position and got no reply even though the reply furthered the topic he mentioned and I asked for a response. Posted Image

Nevermind though as my new PC arrives in couple days then I'll go away 'contribute' to other titles and developers forums (CDPR and Rockstar) until ME3 arrives then I'll be back RAWR! Posted Image

**Edited** I got a response and feel content in that the one post that was most important (to me) on these forums from me has or will now be read. Thanks @ John.

Nah, you'll know we've given up when we pull the plug. We do have the plug, after all. It's right here. And yellow. ;)

But yes, we have been listening, and will continue to do so, especially now that the signal is outweighing the noise. I'll try and post something a little meatier in the next little while, but I want to slowly open up the dialog and talk about specifics; it does a disservice to us all if I can only speak in vaguaries.

Thank you for taking time and visiting the forums. After all, we dont bitePosted Image
It would be nice to have some discussion about specifics.

The Grey Nayr, how can you say some games are better on console when PCs can literally do everything consoles can and more? I don't want to start an argument, just stating the facts.

Uh, no.  Sports games are a THOUSAND  times better on the console than on PC.  And I like the LEGO  games on the console better than on the PC.  RPG type games I  prefer on the PC.  But that's my preferences.  Playing Madden on the PC  I  did once...I  never want to do it again.

And it's always amazing how people who did comment or criticize the game have this sense of entitlement to have their individual posts responded to.  Seriously??   Damn, if they responded to every indidvidual that critcized or critiqued a game, we'd never see another game made.  Not because they didn't want to, but because they'd all be too busy responding to each and every post.

Post your thoughts, the good, bad, and the ugly (as we always called it), and call it a day.  If someone responds directly to you...WONDERFUL.  If someone doesn't...it's not the end of the world.  Just be happy you have a place to voice your thoughts and opinions.  Honestly, the way some people try and grab attention for posting their thoughts...(sarcastic comments ahead) I wonder if they were the ones that would sit in the class room and wave their arms all over the place and when the teacher did not call on them they would start crying hysterically because they weren't picked.  Or if they were the type of only child where their parents spoiled them rotten so they figure everyone else owes them and needs to pay the same type of attention to them..../end of sarcastic mean remarks.

For me, not sure if I'll give Skyrim a try.  Was not thrilled with Oblivion.  And I just tried to play the Witcher again...and couldn't do it.  Not sure why, I liked the game, but for some reason couldn't do it.  I'll see if TW2 is a go.  Probably wait though and not get it right out of the shelf.

..Uh hu.. Sorry what? I stopped listening (reading in this case) after the word "Uh, no." at the beginning of your reply.

Now your not going to reply to me are you because by your logic...

Post your thoughts, the good, bad, and the ugly (as we always called it), and call it a day.

P.S. Yes I did read your reply, but I point out the irony in debating and talking with someone requires feedback from both ends, it's not just nice and polite it's also an essential factor of communication. It is nice to be heard especially when you spend around a month writing something on and off for that period. These forums are not bog standard user only forums, it's prided on the fact that the developers partake to the discussion so I see nothing wrong in having an acknowledgment of time another human being spends in creating something for which these forums are about. If it was just user only interaction on here then I wouldn't care but thats just not the case. The same applies to if my 'review' was incomplete as in felt was missing something that mattered to me then I wouldn't expect a reply or even acknowledgment, but it is complete and covers everything that matter to me about DA2 completley.

It was very cool of Mike to respond as he did. This is one of the things I love most about Bioware, is their interaction with the communities. They do it arguably better than anyone else. This is why I have faith that ME3/DA3 will restore my love with them. They're all dedicated to making the best game they can.

I can't believe you changed the plug to yellow! Its like you no longer care about the fans who long prefered the red plugs since the days of Baldur's Gate 2. Of course, I blame EA for pressuring you into the plug changing decison.

Also, I hear the Witcher 2 has Naked plugs. And they don't fade to black when they pull them.

I can safely say that Wiedźmin 2 DOES in fact embrace it's 18+ rating, and not shy away from it like another RPG that was realeased two months ago, which is currently heavily polarized. BTW, The Witcher 2 is so wicked!Posted Image

I could barely turn myself away from it. How do you beat the Kayran monster? Anyone got any tips?

" we’ll continue to evolve the DA games as we go forward.

Mike.."

This gives me hope that he is listening to the feedback and does care about the future of the franchise.

This worries me..

After the admitted 180,  and continuing in that direction,  that the game will move even further from it's umm.. Origins

Yep. I just didn't want to mention that point for the fear of getting flamed. If this really does mean they'll continue in the ME route they've taken(Hawke's Estate = The Normandy, voiced PC = being limited to one race, limited to three personalities, only being able to talk to companions after specific events instead of almost always like ME, receiving letters = e-mails from ME, limited companion customization etc, etc). Well, I won't bother with any future DA games.

The Nromandy and Hawkes esate are nothing alike, if anything the camp from DAO is morel ike the Normandy.

God I hated that camp....

That's a single similarity. I think his comparing the Normandy to the camp is because the camp has all your companions gathered around like the Normandy does.

All squadmates where on the ship, all your companions where in your camp. No companions live in your estate unless you romance Merrill or Anders.

Also you don't have sex in the open in someones tent, that's a good thing.

Pretty much this, DA2 uses a homebase system(which is not a bad system, it just needs alot of work)

The Normandy has you go through a loading screen to talk to your companions(loweer floor companions, anyway). Kinda like how Hawke visiting companions has you go through a loading screen everytime. Unlike the party camp. They're all right there.

lol, what does that make it have anything to do with ME2? That's such a superficial similarity.
