This worries me..

After the admitted 180,  and continuing in that direction,  that the game will move even further from it's umm.. Origins

It would worry you less if you focused on the half of the sentence you deleted instead. Posted Image

"in some manner"  hmm...

I quoted the relevant part to my point:

Forward after a 180 is still backward to the direction I would prefer. And another 180 will not happen in the man's own words " because we've already done that ". It worries me no less given the existing precedent.

What was that cat doing?  does it think that Japanese people's vision is based on movement and that the cameraman can't see it if it holds still?

If you see the post where I responded to Zjarcal, you notice tha I tried to support deeper interaction and customization with your companions. But, yeah it is hard not to derail. I'm a weak-willed woman. *hangs head in shame*

the Hanged Man would've been the ideal get-together spot for the party, and it would've been nice to maybe see each companion conversing with patrons/other companions there. Like after each main/secondary/companion quest you could go there and hear companions' thoughts on what transpired:

  • Varric and Isabela talk about Javaris
  • Fenris talks about you letting the mages go in Act of Mercy
  • Sebastian and Aveline converse about Starkhaven

and so on and so forth. Would've added something to the replay value.

One of my biggest problems with Kirkwall was how everyone said the same thing to citizens all the time.

It was an attempt to make the city more alive sure, but it was one that made it about as alive as the Tranquil

I agree. Replay value is something that is severely lacking in this game(unlike Origins, IMO). And it's hard to go back to Kirkwall after playing The Witcher 2. Good God, is it hard.

for some reason my portable disk drive won't let me play The Witcher 2 on my laptop, so I'm gonna have to install it on my computer downstairs, where I won't be comfortable.

I was hoping to be incredibly lazy and lie down on my bed with my laptop, but alas.... it was not meant to be...

I think you guys would know that any response I made to point by point criticism would be dissected a million times over. As it stands, I thought it was very cool to receive a hand-written letter, and while I can't talk in detail about future plans, someone taking the time to write me deserved a response.

Dismiss it as a form letter if you will, but the simple truth is that we are listening. Keenly. And when we have clear, specific responses that we can commit to, you will have them.

And thanks again for the letter, SDT. Though, you might consider giving San Diego back, I hear California's been looking for it.

Well, while I think DA2 is the worst BW product in years, to be fair, it does seem like the game suffered from a distinct lack of developing time, had to cut corners, etc.

And while I don't agree with certain aspects of Mike Laidlaw's vision of DA2, I do think the above post is the most positive thing I've read since March 11th here, couple with a few David Gaider posts.

I do think they care, and I hope and believe DA3 will have soul and passion put into it.
It's obvious that games like Origins, Witcher 2, etc. have it.
But DA2.... Doesn't.

The Grey Nayr, how can you say some games are better on console when PCs can literally do everything consoles can and more? I don't want to start an argument, just stating the facts.

Uh, no.  Sports games are a THOUSAND  times better on the console than on PC.  And I like the LEGO  games on the console better than on the PC.  RPG type games I  prefer on the PC.  But that's my preferences.  Playing Madden on the PC  I  did once...I  never want to do it again.

You're wrong. What made you like the console version more? The controls? Playing it on TV? You can do all these things with a PC. All a console is, is a gimped PC. If you're talking about the quality of the game itself and the PC port is poor, then that's a fault of the developers, not the system. This is basic stuff any simpleton can understand. So get your facts straight before you start foaming at the mouth and hurling cheap insults at me son.

Hmmm... It's nice to see Bioware is listening to fan feedback but personally I love Dragon Age II so much I really hope they don't change too much in Dragon Age III.

In my experience developers actually answer questions. I can only talk about Mr. Gaider and he has been kind enough to take a bit of his time to personaly answer my questions and concerns; some with results I did not expect (I do not blame him, though) but at least they DO read what you have to say if you take the time, respect and consideration to do so politely, even if the content is not particularly supportive.

I am glad that all this negativity hasnt caused the devs to throw up their hands and go "we give up" on the community.

Nah, you'll know we've given up when we pull the plug. We do have the plug, after all. It's right here. And yellow. ;)

But yes, we have been listening, and will continue to do so, especially now that the signal is outweighing the noise. I'll try and post something a little meatier in the next little while, but I want to slowly open up the dialog and talk about specifics; it does a disservice to us all if I can only speak in vaguaries.

I expected something more classy, along the lines of a big red button with a "warnin, nuclear winter" sticker.

Dear Mr. Laidlaw and the development teams:

Please don't pull the plug!

Bioware games are the only ones that I play more than once!  I love your games - the characters, the fighting, the overall stories.

Sincerely,

Sister Helen

P.S. - And whatever you do, please-please-please don't go the Bethseda route of Fallout 3.  That game gave me the  nosebleeds and wicked vertigo if I played it more than an hour.  I couldn't manage to go much beyond the second town in that game - and I spent three vacation days trying!

Secondly, I dont get why people like JabbaDaHutt are still here.

He obviously hates Dragon Age 2 with a passion which he is entitled to do; but if he hates it that much why does he continue to post in this forum and in threads like this one after repeatedly registering his displeasure every chance he gets for the past 2 n a bit months..

Most. Over. Repeated. Question. Ever.

Is it so difficult to understand that this place is an online community, and  as such, people  are going to stick around and  communicate,  just like they did before the game came out, and just like they will long after it's gone and buried in everyone's mind?

Sorry if this is too off topic, but I just watned to say that I think it's very cool that he responed like that. I like that he can appreciate the effort of sending a letter and take the time out his probably busy schedule to reply.

But it was only relevant to your point because you cut out the part that showed it had nothing to do with your point.

"As to your concerns, thank you for the specific feedback, as it helps us determine where we’ll head in the future. Luckily, many of your concerns are things that I agree should be addressed in some manner, and we’ll continue to evolve the DA games as we go forward."

He's saying right there that he's agreeing concerns will be addressed and it will help them determine the future direction of the series. Which to me seems the line you should be taking to heart, rather than the '180' comment he made prior to all that feedback.

But if you want to worry based on only part of what he said that's your right to do so. Besides its best if they feel they have to re-earn our trust each and every game. That will only make each game better than the last. You can see that even with Mass Effect 3, where it seems obvious that based on the critical reception of this game, they're taking a few extra months to make it even better.
