Greetings,

I am having a devil of a time getting the toolset to work on my Win7 64 bit system.
Please point me to an appropriate resource to help get me up and running?
Need to finish a module for submission to Bioware!

thanks![smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/angel.png[/smilie]

1. Update to v1.69.
2. Run as Administrator in XP SP 3 compatibility mode.
3. Something else I may be forgetting, or getting confused with NWN2 requirements.

Should have included this:
--- running v 1.66
when i run updater i get this:

Downloading nwn_x12_english_from1668074_to1698109.md5
Latest Game Version Available: 1.69.8109
Connecting...files.bioware.com
Locate patch file nwn_x12_english_from1668074_to1698109.zip
Can not find patch file: nwn_x12_english_from1668074_to1698109.zip
Get the critical rebuild.

1) There is a patch exe located on the cd, that does NOT automatically get installed. Run that first.

Then your auto-updater will run, OR you can go visit the direct patch download site to grab the 1.69 patch. That patch WILL NOT WORK unless you have already updated to the latest version located on your cd/dvd. The site address is Here.

I also run NWN on a 64-bit, Windows 7 operating system. I've found it exceedingly difficult to use the automatic updater with anything more recent than Windows XP (I have a large group of friends who play with me, same problem as you) to get patch 1.69. I strongly recommend getting the update here:

Good luck!

did not find a patch.exe on the cd (running Diamond edition).
uninstalling according to the CriticalRebuild.exe  i found and running the updater from there.

the NWNEnglish1.69OrigUpdate.exe downloaded would not update from 1.66

PS: on the DVD is this file - NWNEnglish1.66HotUUpdate.exe
should i NOT run this? tried and no dice.

First, try the Tech support self-help forums (which is a totally atrocious name) and see if the Win 7 threads can help.

Most specifically, check THIS thread for help.

You are much more likely to get help with these issues in that set of forums than anywhere else.

Do NOT run the updater in compatability mode - it will ALWAYS crash or abort in Win 7 or Vista. Furthermore, IF you have to run any of the other exe files in compatability mode, I reccommend using Win XP SP2 mode - NOT SP3 mode.

You will probably have to install the core files for NWN, NOT patch the game, then run the critical rebuild for 1.69.

You might notice that the camera controls in the toolset seem to be on steroids. I have found this behavior mostly seems to affect ATI GPUs - both pci cards and integrated.

Probably a daft suggestion has anyone thought about making a dual-boot system? I have a dual partition drive with Win 7 on one partition and XP Pro SP3 on the other. I run all my NWN stuff on the XP drive no worries. Just gotta choose which system on boot-up. I won't abandon XP for 7 until they fix issues like this. (Probably by SP3)

You'll be forced to make 7 your C: drive though if you do. It will also try to make you feel guilty about booting to an "Earlier version of Windows"
