One unique aspect of DA:O is that it doesnt restrict any character class to what armor type they can wear, only their strength inhebits which armor type to wear. The rest is left up to you to decide the pro's and con's of each armor class for each specific type of character. Previously my logic went as follows:
Light armor = ranged rogues/mages
medium armor = melee rogues/ranged warriors
Heavy = melee warriors
massive = melee warriors
My logic was that ranged rogues would never really be in the thick of things so they wouldnt need to be hampered by fatigue, neither would mages. Melee rogues might get a few attacks aimed at them but not many and ranged warriors may want to dive into battle. and heavy armor or massive for the warriors. Iv actually found it better to divide armor up based on who is in the melee however. Melee rogues survive tenfold in heavy armor (and the other warrior(s) survive longer too since the melee rogue can actually take a few blows) I'v been using this setup lately
Light armor = ranged rogues/mages
Medium armor = ranged rogues (if they can wear it and have the strength)/ ranged warriors (before they can wear heavy)
Heavy armor = melee rogues/melee warriors (if there is no available massive)
Massive armor = Melee warriors.
Melee rogues have a strength focus making it not to hard to wear heavy (in fact its fit almost perfectly). The extra heavy armor sets on the front lines serve to draw more attention away from the ranged characters like mages.
thoughts?
What do you use the different armor classes for?
