Comic relief. They just forgot to add the Benny Hill music.

Ah, were you asking for advice?

For 2H what you need to get good at is the rush in, take one or two hits then retreat. rinse and repeat.
The arishok's attacks are really slow so it shouldn't be too hard to avoid them. Also note that you'll have to be careful to avoid getting charged as that can lead to a painful combination culminating in his stomping your face in. haha

I don't know of any glitches that you can use for warriors so I suppose you're going to have to do it the long, slow painful way.

I'm not sure what you mean by hit direction. I'm playing on xbox and haven't come across any problems in this regards..

by hit detection i mean is that when i try to hit and run as you said, i routinely get hit from 15-20 feet away.

i routinely get stunned while arishok is not attacking.

i routinely get stunned during my own attacks.

mechanically, its just an awful fight.

you should think about how long this game has been out before acting like that

Yeah, best advice is to just respec into a Desdemona S&S for the Qunari/Arishok. High armor rating on Qunari + lack of good elemental 2H before A3 means that Qunari missions are le suck. So just respec for those, because the battles will be vastly more enjoyable and faster if you go with Desdemona for them both.

thats not me bro. you wanted to see a 2h kill him, you didnt say how.

can i get some more misplaced rage please, there just isnt enough in the 36th thread about this encounter.

edit: will that include any more insightful contributions to this provocative and informative thread?

yeah the combat in DA2 is really unbalanced, its fights are either too easy are too hard, probably need to reset the settings.

The fight is pretty terrible unless you are a mage - which just pins him down with horror and ice spells for entire fight.

2H warrior can do it though. I was a reaver, orbit him to avoid majority of his attacks. His melee attacks shoot forward for a long distance in a broken fashion, but going to side avoids them. Use potions and consume to stay alive once he starts doing that unavoidable move where he sticks you.

I liked using the combustion grenades. You can buy them anywhere you make poisons. I can honestly say I would not have been able to beat him if it weren't for those. They stun him for a a decent amount of time and then you can kick the crap out of him :)

I was going to say this, but Halley beat me to it.  I think people might forget that any class can use the grenades and poisons and they can be a big help when you are going it alone!

Honestly some of the issue is if you've c\\gone CC with your powers as opposed to massive damage the fight gets harder. Never forget the Maker's Sigh "reset" button that allows you to 100% respec before this fight for powers "particular" to fighting just one guy instead of a group.

Did it no problem on Nightmare for xbox as a 2h warrior. Swing swing, strafe. Swing swing strafe. Once he starts doing his flourish attack you'll always take a few small hits but bring about 10 elfroots and it should be more than enough. It did however take me about 20 minutes to kill him like this.

Also, Arishok is immune to fire and lightning on nightmare so grenade doesnt work as well. The poisons are solid though.

I doubt I'll ever understand the motivation for just dropping a boss level npc into a 1v1 duel with the player. Your theorycrafters might be able to exploit it for a quick kill but for us plebs it's such a tiresome encounter. I mean, you fight your way through the burning city, storm the palace filled with Qunari, and confront the Arishok. One thing leads to another, until "Hell yeah I'll duel you! I'll duel the cr*p out of you!".

Quarter of an hour later you've probably rigged something up to play the game for you while you make a sandwich or go to the toilet or something. As anti-climaxes go it takes some beating.

Anyway, last time I got to it I just console-commanded him dead. The 2h templar I played it properly with first may not have been ideal but a spirit healer was just doomed to fail, and I couldn't just turn the duel down with Isabela standing right there, that'd be rude..
