Nice. Now if only Impulse would offer a pre-load.

No. It means you can download the game on the 1st and as soon as it unlocks on the 3rd you can play it.

No BlacknBlue. It means you can start downloading the gigs on the 1st and play, if finished, on the 3rd.

So what was it that Steam downloaded to me after I purchased it?

They download most of the assets.  They can leave out something important like the .exe which you do d/l on the 3rd.  Or like the L4D2 demo encrpyt files then open them on the 3rd.  Bottomline we are all saving time.

Did the term, pre load, completely pass over you or what? Actually, you know, I think I did hear something about Steam players getting the game two days before official release date.

Thanks, Bioware and EA, much appreciated!

I hope the people who went from steam to D2D realize the folly of thier furry ways and return.  Steam > D2D crappiness :)

Good to hear the negotiations between the two companies worked out. I had a bad feeling that valve and EA were going to screw each over on this one.

It's not Valve's say it's EA about if a game can pre-load.

Don't you mean Valve ? I have to wonder how much monies Valve makes from games being distributed on Steam. Also would the problem be related to Valve's closing release date on L4D2 (it's having pre order numbers 3 times the original). I am really ignorant on digital distribuition, so.

Since I was one of the famous few fortunate enough to grab the DDE while it was 54.99 at Steam, I'm glad I didn't succumb to the temptation to cancel and go elsewhere to guarantee my immediate gratification on the 3rd.

Still, being the curious sort, I still can't help but wonder why the negotiations went as long as they did- From Derek's cryptic comments, it sounds like they had some sticking points they needed to work past on both sides. It probably doesn't matter, but I still wonder what went on between those two...
