If you can't figure out why, you should just try it for 10 hours. It will kill you.

Planning on killing Anders, however since I've rivaled him, if I let him go and side with the templars will he fight me later? That way I can lose Anders AND Sebastian?
Never tested it, yet i may look into it. I let you know when iam certain. (Got a save before starting "The Last Straw")
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ive tested it now, Did seem to work actually.
Hope this helps you further on planning the playthrough.

Losing Sebastian is bad now?
A potential ruler with their own army being absolutely furious? Yes.

Though in the mage ending, it's really funny because Kirkwall no longer has a Circle and it's full of templars. So yes, please do bring in your army, Sebastian. I'm not even being sarcastic.
The sad thing is, he's dumb enough to do it. Unfortunately, I doubt there are any spare armies checking the Chanter's board in Starkhaven.

- Recruited everyone
- Spared Kelder, the magistrates son
- Turned Grace in to the Templars
- Bethany died in the Deep Roads (I like her too much and I knew I wouldn't be able to kill her later)
- Made Aveline Captain even though I rivaled her
- Did various "not nice things" such as not giving the kid the loot in Athenril's quest. Too many others to list.
- Made the deal with Topor for Fenriel (This was interesting as in 4 prior play through I never brought Anders along. I hate the bastard but his and Merrill's dialog really add to the quest.)
- Sided with Petrice (I somehow still earned the Arishok's respect...)
- Varric killed Bartrand
- Anders killed the mage girl
- Did not do Aveline's act 2 quest denying her Donnic marriage (she turns into one bitter woman, kinda funny knowing why)
- Romanced Merrill (I actually kept her a bloodmage)
- Turned Isabella over to the Qunari (This was disappointing, more on it later)
- Turned Fenris over to Denarius (This bugged my game so that every time I entered the Hanged Man via the map in the day time I had to redo the scene. At least I got to see everyone's reactions. Anders is still a tool)
- I did not get Aveline's Act 3 quest. Apparently turning down her Act 2 quest means she no longer gives you any quests! Also the game assumes she's only the temporary captain in Act 3 even though I did her Act 1 quest. Since I'm on the PC I forced the quest to load but from then on the game assumed Aveline and Donnic were together. Bummer. I just wanted to see Hawke get beat up by Aveline.
- Sided with Templars
- Spared Anders and Lost Sebastian
- Tried to turn Zevran over to the Crows, sadly just ends up being the same only no Finesse as a gift.
- Fought Anders in the Gallows. This was far more satisfying than the murder knife scene even though it was still a one shot kill.
- Final Party Members: Aveline, Merrill, and Varric
A lot was confirmed that being a d-bag changes little in the game. Turning in Isabella barely brought any new dialog. Petrice mentioned it when i talked to her in act 3, and Merrill and Varric had a banter about missing Isabella. There may have been one other reference, but I honestly don't remember. Once Fenris is gone, no one misses him apparently. Some of the party banter was different for Aveline if she's not with Donnic, but just by a line or two.
Templar ending was fairly lame except for one thing: the speech Hawke gives to Merrill convincing her to stay is great. It actually sounds like a sane option, but its never expressed that way by anyone else ever in the game (well Cullen is mildly sane, but I've hated him since DA:O).
I had a much harder time fighting Orisino and Merredith since almost no one came to my aid except for Cullen, Nathaniel, and Donnic. Still finished, but I had to lower the difficulty from Hard.
Moral of the story? DA 2 is all about your companions. They make the game easier (and steal the spotlight from the main character). Be good to them or Merrdith's and Orsino's fight will just take foever.

1. Athenril Part, either you be a smuggler or a mercenary. If you was a Mercenary the bad option would be to kill Lord Harimann without giving him time to explain himself.
2. Arishok's respect, there is certain dialogue(also being honest with him that you killed his Qunari, if you sided with Petrice) options which triggers the respect of the Arishok
3. I agree partly at "d-bag changes little in the game", when i imported my wardens choices into the game i felt like: even if he wasnt present in the game his d-bag choices seemed more better than Hawke's.
4. I agree entirely at "DA 2 is all about your companions. They make the game easier" i was a d-bag in Origins and i barely kept myself alive against the Archdemon, had Morrigan, Loghain and dog at the end(Took a while and died a few times). ((Edited: I had Oghren at the Denerim gates.)) All healers in DA series are good people it seems, and you always seem to lose them if you are a bad person.

i don't get why you can't have the option to knife kill him when he makes such a threat like that.

That made me laugh out loud. This is the first time it occurred to me that Verric must have been making up 99% of what he told Cassandra about Andrei Hawke.TheAwesomologist wrote...

Also if you really want to be a jerk to Merrill, do her act 2 quest but don't give her the tool. You will still get the rivalmance in act 3, sleep with her, then break up.
Kill the Blackpowder Promise dwarf when you get a chance
(Unconfirmed) Don't help Bodahn with Sandal
