So I've created a new play through of ME1 as I wanted to make the opposite decisions as I did last time, so Im playing as femshep romancing Kaidan and not cheat on him come ME2. The games going fine and Shep is being paragon and flirty to Kaidan while being a douche to Liara so she doesn't get the wrong idea, and when Virmire comes along I leave Ash to die.
After this, Kaidan and Liara should come up to me and ask me to chose between them, but they don't, which I thought was odd, but I figure since I was being mean to Liara that I didnt need to chose.
Then come the 'almost kiss' bit, and for some reason its Liara, not Kaidan! I chose all the renegade options to make her go away, but the scene still plays through and Liara nearly mouth rapes my Shep.
Why is this happening? Is it a glitch? Is there any way I can still fix this to romance Kaidan? Or am I just going to have to get sexually assualted by Liara in a few scenes time?

Man, I'm sorry. I don't have any help for you, but threads like this are the reason my femsheps just avoid Liara. I'm a Kaidan girl and I don't want that messed with.

It's a bug. If you don't want to romance Liara choose the neutral option. Same for all ME1 romances, actually.

ME's romance flags are really badly handled, and especially Liara's. It's best if you completely avoid speaking to people you don't want to bang. I'm sorry if it clashes with your roleplaying, but that's really the only way we have to deal with bad programming.

I know the feeling. I had to take the **** off attitude to prevent that since she didn't seem to understand the concept of being just friends. She almost managed to ninjamance my first femShep for that reason. Luckily in the jealousness conversation it was easy to turn down her since my Shep had Kaidan romance option open.

Report her to the proper athorities. She used her biotics to remove Kaiden from her path, and is attempting to mind rape you. She is a known criminal, who has done this to Commanders many times before, which is confused as a "bug" to the Mass Effect community. Do not be fooled.

 Nah,  because you're still too polite when you tell her to shut up. I like Liara, as a friend and as a prothean encyclopedia but damn, you can warp objects with your mind yet you can't tell whether something is real or not?

Liara asks if you are interested in an early dialog...you choose the middle option and tell her you just want to be friends and she leaves you alone from there on in....she is the easiest to deal with, you gotta dodge romance bullets with Ash.

The way she acts around Shepard is akin to a creepy celebrity stalker. It was right after Therum that she started asking my femshep about a "strong connection" between the two and just seemed more interested in disecting her in a lab than being her friend/lover.

The whole Liara "romance" is downright disturbing.

i can understand the female players who feel this forced lesbo thing on them in ME1 ..i read a couple of days ago here on the forums some female player pointed out the affair with citadel consort and i realise that for female players who are not in the lesbo action is a breake of character development (if you choose the renegade option you get a forced sex scene ..now ..i allways play as maleShepard BUT i never wanted sex scene with citadel **** and that was really annoying and in my other playthrouths i have to compliment her (witch i feel it's out of character for my renegade Shepard) to not have that forced sex scene

the same thing with Liara but here she's obsesed with protheans and Shepard "was touched by actual prothean technology"..so it can be an explanation ..the rest is a bug
but anyway romancing Ashely (witch i do on my main soldier Shep ...soldier love) has no Liara bug

Anyway, it's funny you say that because the reverse keeps happening to me. I try to romance Liara while being an ass to Kaidan. And then Kaidan is the one to appear in Joker's peeking scene. So I really just don't talk to Kaidan any more and everything else goes fine. There is a simple rule for this - "don't want sex then don't talk to strangers."

Pretty much this with ME1 & 2 squad mates...dodging eternal romance bullets...

But talking to Zaeed doesn't get my femshep in bed with him.
