a Q&A session for the people who can't go would be great.

(1) Having developers on the floor to speak with makes for a great booth. Even if they're tight-lipped, discussing an upcoming game with one of its creators is the main reason that I attend conventions. Having unique swag (like those inflatable swords) is a nice draw, too.

(2) Pictures! Lots of pictures.

I'm sure that I won't be able to attend any convention, so keeping us folks updated via Twitter and maybe a live stream of the goings-on would be great!

A meet the devs would be great, either through twitter feeds or a video or a liveblog or what have you, and maybe a short Q&A with confirmed voice actors. Someone also mentioned a sample of the soundtrack, yes please.

Edit to add pictures.

my idea is to keep Legion in for ME3 or the geth as your allies or squadmates

I went to the DA2 promotion at last year's Comic Con in San Diego. I would say that was an overall success. So if you did something similar to it for Mass Effect 3, that would be great. Where we could meet up with the people behind the game and ask questions, etc. Also, free little goodies like the inflatable swords is another way to win me over. :P

Another idea is maybe to promote people to participate, like have an ultimate fan Q&A showdown or cosplay contest. Or get a gigantic canvas and allow fans to come up and draw something.

How about some sort of contest where there is an all expenses paid trip out to E3 when you guys are there to be a part of the BioWare team during the Expo as a fan representative?

I'm not talking about a luxury trip, but standard expense coverage and being there for the experience. I would love to enter such a contest. I would never have the opportunity otherwise, and it would be a highlight of my life, because things like that never happen to me. Ever. Nor do I think it ever could.

As far as what to have there...I think meeting developers would be really neat, seeing the unknowns behind the scenes that put in the gritty work. It would be neat to have voice actors there, too.

As someone who is headed towards PAX Prime, I'm definitely looking forward to see something about Mass Effect.
As for things to look towards, generally everything's been said in a rather neat little checklist already.

.Swag, heck yes, and if you guys surprise us with new action figures, (Legion por favor) I will hug and/or buy that person a food/drink item.  Shirts are awesome, hats are cool, but I've already got one, and not everyone wears a hat.  Lanyards are easy points, buttons too, small to big things are nice.  I saw folks talking about downloadable goodies, and I'd agree only on cosmetic items, and maybe if you then turn and give everyone else something as well.  Ooh, weird crazy cool thought, Omni tool gloves, I'm certain that might cost a bit, but that would DEFINITELY be awesome

..Meeting Devs is always a treat, as long as we can ask a few questions.  Last PAX plenty of the panels or demos only had the dev's guiding us through a demo before we were shuffled back out into the lights and noise.  This was counterbalanced with a lot of the indie developers being able to have full face time with their fans, which was a'plenty nice.  (Chainsaw from Twisted Pixel, if anyone knows who he is, was one of the many I met and conversed with.)  It's one thing to smile and wave, and another to be able to ask a couple of quick questions, express our appreciation, that sort of thing.  I know, it sounds daunting, what with you guys still needing to plug in that code, but a few guys for a few days would do good for us.

.Contests, are, always, fun.  From cosplay to trivia, to see who can do the Shepard Shuffle the best, people like having fun.  You can have the big drawings or the short and simple ones every so often.

.Decorations.  If you're not thinking of neat little things, start now.  If you're planning a guided demo where you can tell a bit of what's going on, you'll most likely wind up with that cube room format, all dark and quiet inside, with only the smallest hints of the fervor of things outside.  Throw a few things around it, give it some spice.  Here's an idea, make it look like the inside of the Normandy or a shuttle, THAT'll score some cool points.  Something along the lines of that huge mech suit thing that Red Faction had, (for example) would definitely do good, but that might work best if you're running with a hand's on demo.  If that were the case, your decorations would have to run with functionality for the rest of the prying eyes.

The main thing I'd worry about if I were you guys is putting on the big man show instead of the little man.  Again, having more care for your fans goes a long way, as most of the big name brands kicking us out with a, "Thanks for stopping by," doesn't leave much of an afterglow, after spending quite a considerable time in line, just saying.  Having a team of devs to chat with helps a good deal with that, swag buffers, yada yada.  The thing is, this is gonna be big, I'd suggest whatever you wind up with, be friendly, be open.

Also, for the folks at home, whip up some vids, a montage of people giving their endorsements for example.  I'm pretty sure I can do a spankin' Shepard impersonation.;)
