to be fair to EA/BW, to have a truly realistic portrayal would have taken another year or so in development etc..

I doubt that it was a matter of putting or not another year in developement. DA:O took several years to be done, and still, you coud light a templar on fire (or at least cast a cone of fire that passes through him) and he would not do anything.

If memory serves DA:O had approx 8 years dev. DA2 I'd say about 1 to 2 years.

I echo this sentiment, while we're at it.

Thank you both, I like that armor also, I wish they used it for the champion armor. The helmet (Warden's Coif) is from lowtown, the armor guy that has an npc saying he is "A Smith". The chestplate etc, is from Hightown, act 3 I think.

My point exactly. With 8 years in developement, templars were just as incompetent in DA:O (maybe even more so) as they were in DA2 and a year more likely would not have changed that ;) .

It would have been much more exciting if you had to take over one of your companions and have them go to the gallows, to get missions etc.. Like Aveline, or Fenris if you in fact are a mage. They could also have Anders or Merrill refuse to go like Isabella when you see the Arishok. Or just make it more clandestine. A mage walking up to the KC (Cullen) is just lame. To be honest, I'm surprised they don't have bounty hunters. Another thing to remember about DA:O, it was under BW development for much of the 8 years, before EA bought them.

8 years vs 1-2 years is very misleading, I would say the 1st few years of Dragon age development was dave gaider thinking about all things thedas.
