haha don't worry, i'm shopping atm. I've got 80+ gold to splurge on getting my characters fully optimised ;)

Well, as optimised as it can be without the nexus golem store.. I cbf doing the gauntlet just to get the etched ring and even if I got it I wouldn't be able to shop for my nature gear :/

where do you buy nature staves from?
I'm not having much luck finding them in the usual staff spots - only getting electricity, fire etc.
and the dalish dont even sell nature staves?

ah I take it back, finally got a nature staff from the dalish. Weird how it took so long.
Bordering on ridiculous. i've lost count of the number of times and still no nature staff!

plenty of places to buy nature staves.

Huberts sells high level nature staves with mana enchanments... usefull if your lazy. @ lvl 18 look for 39 Base.

Docks in the daytime sells high level nature staves with nature%. Very hard to attain tho and the walking distance is a royal pain in the ****!

Gallows sells Nature staves with spirit% or Nature staves with Spirit damage.

Dalish camp sells Nature staves with fire %.

Note* The gear at this level is costly. Make sure you save before you buy anything so that you can get your gold back after your speed run.

!!! if only I knew that earlier...would have prevented me wasting an hour of my life haha.
I paid heaps and only got ~33base damage, so might try the docks/huberts

Thanks

oh, and there's no nature rings anywhere is there?

it's good i'm on xbox.. i basically do all the walking with one hand/peripheral vision while doing something else, e.g. wasting time on the computer. haha
but i'm not sure whether loading times are slower- seem to spend lots of the time waiting for the map to reload.

just got a 35base dmg staff with mana, it'll have to do. now for my second one. :)
thank goodness i only have 2 mages..
picked up a 37base mana, I really can't be bothered anymore - this isn't even for my main playthrough! haha

I'm going to attempt Varnell now. hopefully I'll see a difference!

yeah, in the ~100 times I must have checked his shop just then i never saw any rings.
i think nature rings are only uniques and only available in act 3 - the jade serpent and the sylvanwood ring

Yep, sort of. Nature is ridiculously effective against all the angry mob but sucks against Varnell. The edge of night is really effective against Varnell but is no way near as good as nature against the mob. I'm still trying to figure this out...

What wouldn't I give for weapon sets. haha
Switching between weapons is really time consuming (~1-2sec) and ruins any advantage of using nature. I've matched but haven't beaten 45seconds yet. That number is cursed. :(

Look to your companions and see if you can't bleed more damage out of them

Yeah, I'm swapping out Isabela (nature dagger) for Sebastian (+40 from runes) mostly because he can cause the friendly fire I need to half kill myself.. lol

42 seconds!

btw, I gave up on it for now. Until I have a goal to work towards (e.g. your time which will completely wipe mine) I'm going to continue on with my main playthrough - I just solo'd the gauntlet with my unoptimised hawke (no poisons, rock potions etc). Soloing is actually pretty fun!

I've only had belts or necklaces, highest was 6%.  Though, I'm certain 7% is possible in act 3.

36 second Varnell

After attempting to make a joke out of it by soloing it faster than 38seconds (which didn't work - I got ~1minute something,) I came up with the idea of two S&S warriors - a sort of rub it in your face sort of idea.

Odd thing is that it worked better than the disorient CCC method. Weird.

@suicidal - I only found +4% belts at level 19-20. I just don't have the patience or the luck to get the really good stuff :(

That's more like it! Take note of what his companions are doing AFK. That's your difference right there.

haha yeah, my companions suck. but that's a good idea, i might try seeing if my companions can take care of one side while I wait for the other - before I was always trying to leave them where they were and do the running myself (but they always followed me..)

On another note, i've finally done a continuous qunari invasion. It wasn't very good and I was recording with my webcam (camera batteries ran out again) so everything is really trippy/looks like the fade. haha

I think my batteries are charged enough so hopefully I'll have an upload worthy run to upload! :)
And i'll get around to varnell a little later (so sick of him).

p.s. so much for 'real men play 2H' :P

sometimes i just can't resist stooping to your level and kicking you clean off it *cough*arw*cough*, what can i say

i actually do it so you can hopefully learn something from it, and compare it against what you did to see what you're doing wrong (paste eating companions with a few bad ideas thrown in)

Hmm.. what tactics/abilities are you using for your companions?
It's not your usual berserker vanguard tactics is it?

But yeah, I usually cbf spending too much time on tactics and just lump some general tactics from the top of my head into it. Generally it functions well enough to get through nightmare pretty easily (e.g. CCCs still get setup and pulled off etc), but for speed runs it doesn't really hold up quite as well...
