All,

I recently purchased Dragon Age Origins - Awakening for the PS3. I do not own Dragon Age Origins for the PS3.

I insert the game disc into the PS3, install patch 1.05 of Dragon Age Origins, and then try to play Dragon Age Awakening, but the game will not load. I get the following error message:

"Dragon Age: Origins game data is required for Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening. Please eject your disc and insert your Dragon Age: Origins disc"

Any idea? Isn't that what the patch is for? When I bought Awakening, I was told I didn't need the original game to play Awakening...

Any help?

No... Awakening is an expansion. Expansions generally need the original game. It says so on the box. (Well, I'm sure it does.) Whoever told you this lied to you. Sorry to tell you that.

I'd return it. Buy the Ultimate Edition. Better deal. It isn't fun anyway unless you've played DAO first.

What is the ultimate edition? Is it origins + awakening?

It's Origins, Awakening, and all the DLC. If you can catch it on sale, it's a steal. Check out the DAO site for more details.

I was able to nab a copy for 40 bucks. Great value at that price. Even at 60 its great.
