One thing I will say is although I'm really enjoying TW2, it has some rough edges that need polishing ( looting, game settings, inventory, controller support ) I hope CD red is as devoted in post release patching as they were with TW1.
I should hope so. They did patch the Witcher 1 for a long time and released the Enhanced Edition for free.

No way CDP is going to replace Bioware for me.
The only game the Witcher 2 beats is DA:2, and we all know that is a low point in Bioware's long history of excellent games.
All the other Bioware games: Mass Effect series, Baldur's Gate, KOTOR, and DA:O are leagues above Witcher2.
It's going to take A LOT more than a single game from CDP to replace Bioware for me.
Respectfully, I disagree. I feel that in many ways, TW2 is vastly superior to almost every game Bioware have ever created.
Of course, I have a large amount of nostalgia attached to earlier Bioware games (Baldur's Gate for example), which may make them seem even better than they are from my point of view.
At any rate, these kinds of discussions are mostly subjective. I love Bioware, and have quickly come to love CDPR. I hope both companies continue to release top notch games in the future.
Baldurs did require alot more strategy than these action games, you gotta give it that.
Vey different rpgs.

Well yea. I just can't get over how DA is supposed to be the spiritual successor to BG yet it plays nothing like it. From the most basic lock bash to the most complex boss fights or dialogue choices. Origins or DA2 are no where near as complex. Witcher 2 imo is more difficult and just as tactical. You can just button mash you have to be prepared, traps ar e neccesarry, ranged weapons can be used in unique ways. It's all matter of opinion ofcourse but I never felt challenge in Origins or DA2 on Nightmare. Witcher 2 on Hard is though can't wait for Insanity where it's one life and restart.

Sometimes I wonder if maybe Bioware was never the company some folks think it was.
No company ever is the company fans think it is.

Actually sounds like a good action rpg. I do prefer the d&d party based games that rely on the good old dice rolls, but i might have to check this one out if my pc can handle it.Ringo12 wrote...

I think it's premature to dub CDProjeckt as the new "savior" of RPG Fans.
They have a total of ONE successful IP at this point. They produce one bad Game and they'll be on the "Hate List" along with many other Companies.
This. I'm waiting to see what CDP does after The Witcher. That's going to be the real test.
Very much this, all it takes is one "meh" game from CDProjekt like what happened with DA2, and the "fans" will immediately bring the hate train and claim the next company as their RPG savior

For me, personally, as long as I see CD Projekt putting their hearts and souls into the game, such developer passion bursting through it's every pore, I can live with the a bad game.
I won't like it, I won't play it, but I won't hold a grudge against the company who made it.
Origins, whether you like it or not, was a game done with passion and dedication.
Even if someone didn't like it (though that someone has NO SOUL!!!!) they had to respect the effort put into that game, the attention to detail, the lore, etc.
DA2?
Nope.
A streamlined half-product, with no RPG consequences, recycled maps (comepletely inexcusable), no ambition but to milk your money based on Origins' success, corners were cut, music was rushed, stories felt half-done,
...
It's just my opinion, and it's been said many times on these forums.
TW2/DA:O = games done with love and passion, make money as bonus
DA2 = game done to make money, gameplay as an aferthought

I really liked the melee combat in Demon Souls, btw. You can't get away with that mindless button mashing. Makes the battles alot more interesting that way.

It's one of the few console rpgs that I love. It's so unqiue.
If you plan to get it and want a challenge I suggest playing on Normal then get used to the combat system and crafting and then bump it up to hard. It's so much fun. Insanity you get one life so yea don't recommend until you popped your cherry...

Yea, no doubt. I liked how the weapons had different animations and you actually had to change the way you fought depending on what you were using and what type of character you were going with.
I just wish there was alot more to the world in Demons Souls. The small boards made me feel like i was playing an action game, not an epic rpg.
Picture a game with the melee combat of Demons Souls, say, in the world of an Elder Scrolls game, and the writing, characters and story of a Bioware or CD Projekt game. Plus, make it d&d licensed too, with all that complexity and great content.
That would be one hell of an action rpg right there.

Agreed, I love DAO and respect the devs' passion in it. though I dont like the witcher 1 & 2 that much, because I really do not feel I am playing a character I want to be, it's more like an action adventure to me. I still can feel their hard work in it, those environments are really awesome.

Frankly there are several developers who wished they could produce DA2 levels of work.
Was DA2 bad? No
Could DA2 have been better? Yes (Been spoiled by KOTOR, JE, ME, BG)
Are Bioware looking at Feedback? Yes (Though most people seem to prefer to assume no just so they can feel better about themselves)
Is the Witcher 2 THE RPG? No (Honestly to me the current RPG's feel more like Action/Adventure games with a little RPG sprinlkled on for Flavourving. I'm in no way saying that Witcher 2 is a bad game but the Term RPG is a very loose concept these days)
Seriuosly if you feel CDProject is your thing then go to there forums I'm sure they will really appreciate you there, frankly there is no point of staying here causing Internet fights with people who have opinions different from your own.
It just seems odd that one game suddenly means the death of a developer who had produced a huge backlog of games that have garnered huge success and praise, like they are not allowed to try something different. I did like the story of DA2 and I felt they fixed alot of problems with DAO but in the end it did feel like more could be done to open the world up more, the one problem I had with DA2 was it felt too linear and repetitve in certain areas.
Now to activate my blast shields to fend off the people who feel I have no right to express my viewpoint (I said viewpoint not opinion so ha) that is different from there own. GIVE ME YOUR WORST INTNERNET I HAVE NO FEAR
(NOTE: For those who do not see it there is Sarcasm present in the preceding post, at least I hope so it will make things easier next time I'm on)

Besides, if BioWare want to prevent this sort of discussion they should just shut down the "Off Topic" forum (this would be a shame).
They are know to do that. They closed off topic in The Old Republic forums.
