In terms of lore, Lucas has stated that Darkness is the imbalance so bringing balance to the force means destroying all dark side practitioners.
Though Xehanort's goal reminds me of what Mickey said to Riku in the CoM manga about using light to find his way through darkness and using the darkness to shield himself when the light gets too bright (hence his keyblade being "The Way to Dawn" a time between darkness and light)

Initially I screamed like a freak of nature. I'll also admit to having maybe welled up at the nostalgia (the fvcking music...). My weiner was already diamond hard after the VSXIII/XV showing. The KH3 trailer made my eyes (and my weiner) shed tears.

They are more or less confirmed. It's all very complicated if you didn't play every single game (and even if you did it's still hard to decipher everything >.>) but this LENGTHY VIDEO pretty much explains it all. In essence, we'll probably be seeing all the prominant keyblade weilders playing very large roles in this game.

I'm thinking that if there are multiple playable characters she'll have to be one of them. Then again, Sora never became a legitamate keyblade master, so maybe they'll have Kairi be the same way? That actually makes much more sense now that I think about it. The Osaka SE studio is the one working on KH3 and they made BBS and DDD.

I'm probably going to end up doing a massive KH binge and end up doing a crapload of character analyses in between work and writing my story/stories.

I just did a Saix/Axel one the other day because out of all of the Organization members, their arc is by far the most tragic.

Here ya go

It's nothing special, mind you. Just a recapping of facts within the story while also examining some of the feelings that Saix must be going through, particularly anger. Most of it was done based off of memory, so I've assuredly forgotten many of the finer details since I haven't played the KH series for a while.

Actually, it wouldn't really be fair to call it a Saix/Axel analysis because it's really just a Saix analysis. I'll do Axel another day.

Yes to Pixar, no to the rest. Ugh, I would not be able to play Kingdom Hearts if a Star Wars world was thrown in or a Marvel world. It'd just seem too out of place.

FWIW, Master Xehanort's reports talked about how there could even be other Keyblade wielders out there, since they don't know how far the universe extends.

It'll certainly be interesting to see which of the Keyblade wielders will be the seven lights fighting the 13 beings of Darkness.

As you said, we have Sora, Riku, Mickey, Kairi, Aqua, Ventus, and Lea. But then there's also Master Eraqus and Terra... and if you believe Jack Sparrow was allowed to be Sora's successor (like I do ) then him as well. And what if Yen Sid comes out of retirement?

All told, that's 11.

Of course, that assumes Terra actually appears in the battle, as we don't know what happened to him after the destruction of Ansem SoD and Xemnas. Was his body reformed? Or was Terra-Xehanort one of the 13 beings of Darkness. I lean towards the latter.

And personally, I feel that your list of who the 7 will be is probably correct. 

But who are the 13 beings of darkness? Let's see...

1) Master Xehanort.
2) Ansem, SoD
3) Xemnas
4) Young Xehanort
5) Saix/Isa
6) Xigbar/Braig
7) If we assume Terra-Xehanort, then him as well.

That leaves six to fill the void after Sora was rescued. 

Supporting number 7 (hah, funny it should stop at 7), the wiki says that MX said that "1 of the 7 lights was in his possession", which the wiki denotes as possibly meaning Terra-Xehanort.
