I dunno, I think Star Wars could mayyyybe work if they don't take it too seriously, like Darth Vader going to Disney Land. Marvel, meh.

Granted I don't actually know the tone of KH at all, that's just my superficial impression.

Interesting A new Kingdom Hearts game exclusive for the PC that focuses on the Keyblade War, where the player can be an active participant.

Essentially, BE THE VILLAIN.

Gotta say, that's pretty awesome.

That is interesting. If it's a browser game I wonder if they could make a mobile game out of it too...

Well, I'll admit Kingdom Hearts does have a sort of light Star Wars vibe to it because of its general story (Nomura has admitted he's a fan of Star Wars and Star Trek, though that was in regards to acquiring Mark Hamill and Leonard Nimoy as voice actors for Eraqus/Master Xehanort respectively).

So maaaybe it could work. It'd certainly be funny in a way to see Darth Vader engaging in discussions with say... Queen Minnie. Or seeing him in the 100 Acre Wood and playing with Pooh.

Funny, but not necessarily something that should be done.

But I dunno, the idea of the Keyblade wielders meeting the Jedi and Sith seems odd to me, because it's sort of breaking down the fourth wall in a way I probably might not enjoy.

It's tough to really say more on the matter about how I feel, but if you do play the series you may feel the same way, where Star Wars and Kingdom Hearts don't really seem like things that could go together.

Many people had come to suspect a game like this would be made -- myself among them -- with some believing it would be a "Your own player" type of thing while others thought it would be in line with the KH series itself (a set story told) IIRC.

The fact that they're going to actually make it is astonishing. I'd certainly like it to not be relegated to just the PC. It'd be awesome for it to be on the PS4 or handheld systems.

It'll certainly be interesting to see which of the Keyblade wielders will be the seven lights fighting the 13 beings of Darkness.

As you said, we have Sora, Riku, Mickey, Kairi, Aqua, Ventus, and Lea. But then there's also Master Eraqus and Terra... and if you believe Jack Sparrow was allowed to be Sora's successor (like I do ^_^) then him as well. And what if Yen Sid comes out of retirement?

:o:o:o

All told, that's 11.

Of course, that assumes Terra actually appears in the battle, as we don't know what happened to him after the destruction of Ansem SoD and Xemnas. Was his body reformed? Or was Terra-Xehanort one of the 13 beings of Darkness. I lean towards the latter.

And personally, I feel that your list of who the 7 will be is probably correct.

But who are the 13 beings of darkness? Let's see...

1) Master Xehanort.
2) Ansem, SoD
3) Xemnas
4) Young Xehanort
5) Saix/Isa
6) Xigbar/Braig
7) If we assume Terra-Xehanort, then him as well.

That leaves six to fill the void after Sora was rescued.

Supporting number 7 (hah, funny it should stop at 7), the wiki says that MX said that "1 of the 7 lights was in his possession", which the wiki denotes as possibly meaning Terra-Xehanort.

Yeah - There are some people who believe that Roxas & Xion could be part of the 7 lights. Although they are already a part of Sora. Xion was created from a fragment of Sora's memories, when Xemnas 'walked' through him at Hollow Bastion, I imagine? And Roxas is his nobody. And like you said -- Terra's 'vessel' is still being held hostage by Spockanort. That leaves us with the people we already know are able to summon a Keyblade.

All of this reminds me -- Whatever happened to rest of the Organization XIII? My favorite trickster, Luxord, Larxene, Marluxia & even Demyx? We've never seen their original forms, so perhaps they simply vanquished?

Which also beckons another question -- The Xehanort we met at Hollow Bastion in KH1. Was he the original Xehanort's Heartless who wanted to conquer Kingdom Hearts, or was the robed figure as well who had traveled back in time? Are those two the same SoD or are they different? The whole time travel angle has me confuzzled.

Hah, I wouldn't mind if we got another Pirates world based on the sequels to see Captain Jack again.

The 13 beings of Darkness are likely the people you mentioned. Different versions of MX, Saix, Xigbar & Terranort.

Filament, hope you don't mind heavy spoilers, because this game series is heavy on the Kudzu plot

Yeah - There are some people who believe that Roxas & Xion could be part of the 7 lights. Although they are already a part of Sora. Xion was created from a fragment of Sora's memories

Ah I forgot about them! Sora had said Roxas had just as much a right to exist as he did, they might appear in their own forms as well. No doubt Sora's belief extends to Xion. That bumps us up to... 13.

Wow, that's odd. 13 and 13.

All of this reminds me -- Whatever happened to rest of the Organization XIII? My favorite trickster, Luxord, Larxene, Marluxia & even Demyx? We've never seen their original forms, so perhaps they simply vanquished?

I really would like some more insight into their original personas, for all of the Organization. It's implied that Larxene (and Xaldin) suffered some form of heartbreak that soured their outlook on the hearts necessity.

Are those two the same SoD or are they different?

The robed figure was indeed the SoD.

IIRC, over time, his form began to wither away and he became that robed figure, wherein he sought out a new vessel, manipulating Maleficent and her gang into doing his deed to get the 7 Princesses (and he saw Riku as his candidate) because he wasn't in enough of a state to do it himself.

Hah, I wouldn't mind if we got another Pirates world based on the sequels to see Captain Jack again.

I hope they bring in Gibbs, Norrington, Cotton, his parrot, the dwarf pirate, and... really just all the mainstay cast, along with Davy Jones and his crew. While I loved the Pirates world, I didn't like how much of the plot was substantially shortened and much of the characters from the first film not put in.

I still love the world as we got it, but just the shortness of it all and the lack of those characters was a "What could've been" moment for me.

Doesn't help that for some odd reason, they removed the guns the pirates used in battle (save for Jack that is in his scene IIRC) when in KH1 Clayton used a gun.

Can anyone tell me if the new Kingdom hearts game is indeed KH3 and not KH2.1665764422 special edition 56 Final cut + Mix with free booze and Super Rainbow Friendship edition?

I am sick and tired of the KH story jumping from platforms to others and becoming more and more convoluted!

It's Kingdom Hearts 3 - It was shown at E3 here
There might be side stories released for the portable consoles too, who knows.

I've never played any of the damn sidestories and am actually looking forward to the Final mix getting to Europe.
Thank Odins mighty wisdom for KH3 FINALLY!! It's been so long since I've bothered with the series thanks to the side stories being released on handhelds which I refuse to buy because teeny tiny eyescreeno vision gives me a headache.

KH 1 was a masterpiece and actually hard, KH2 was a walk in the park but appealing, I wish KH3 will give us a difficulty level that is actually challenging right off the bat and not in a re-edition or another damn Final mix that you need to buy again.

Kingdom hearts is to date one of my top 10 series that I love to bits. But it also pisses me off to no end at times.

Such a complicated relationship... Still thanks for the good news.

KHIII deserves MARVEL, STAR WARS, AND PIXAR, BABY!!

Yes to Pixar, no to the rest. Ugh, I would not be able to play Kingdom Hearts if a Star Wars world was thrown in or a Marvel world. It'd just seem too out of place.

Agreed - Marvel & Star Wars worlds would be weird, though I'm all in for some Toy Story! :D

Far as I know from DDD - There'll be 7 lights fighting 13 beings of Darkness. The 7 lights are probably Sora, Riku, Mickey, Aqua, Ventus, Kairi & Lea maybe? Could be some completely new characters too I guess.

Idk, I think Star Wars could work. You know how you visited some world's twice in the previous games? Imagine playing the prequels the first time, making friends with Anakin and Obi-wan, then you leave and everything gets corrupted. You come back and Darth Vader is Anakin's heartless that you have to destroy to free him by playing the original trilogy. That could be cool.

ALSO gummy ship death star trench run. Don't even lie and say no to this. Your inner ned will cry if you do. Hell, your outer nerd will cry.

To me - Having Vader in Kingdom Hearts would just make him lose even more credibility as an intimidating villain. The prequels already did enough damage to him. Pirates of the Carribbean were already a bit cartoonish/romantic to begin with, so I thought that worked fine with KH2. The most intimidating villains in Kingdom Hearts are the Square Enix ones, and I'm perfectly fine with that.

For me, Vader lost all his credibility because the prequel Anakin

But I assume they got better with the artwork and graphics to make it decent this time, I hope

I would like to fight the emporer actually. Would be fun, and we could technically fight him twice if they played it right.

No, I saw how Tron looked in relation to the Kingdom Hearts cast in 3D, also the idea of Darth Vader being a heartless is terribad

KH1 would always remain the best one for me. It was just a lighthearted adventure within Disney worlds, and the challenge was surprisingly great. My favorite moments were the Hallow Bastion events. To this day, no other KH game has topped those moments.

KH2 was horrible for me because instead of a lighthearted adventure with epic moments, I was given an angsty teen plot that tried waaaay toooo hard to be deep and needlessly convoluted with a heavy amount of forced symbolism. Organization Xiii, the lame pointless emphasis on Sea Salt Ice Cream, repeating of the "oh-so-symbolic" sunset scene(in that one town), and god. KH really tried to be something bigger than it originally was, and I can't for my life eat any of this game's bs attempt at "deep" storytelling.

The game would have been saved if there was challenging gameplay and mind inducing boss fights like the first game, but sadly enough all of that was reserved to the Final Mix version >_> If we get this version of the game, I might as well change my whole opinion of KH2 because on its own, I didn't get any sense of satisfaction playing it.

As I try to comprehend the KH narrative, I become more and more convinced they use Tite Kubo as a ghost writer. The writing is just such an incomprehensible mess, where retcons and vagueness conquers all, and where everything HAS to be connected to every other f**king thing in the most convoluted way possible.
Seriously, playing KH2 I never understood what Xemnas actually wanted to achieve. Like, why should I care about beating him. At least Fake Ansem wanted Ultimate Darkness Powers lololol or something like that.

BBS oddly enough restored my faith for the games. Proud Mode actually felt a bit challenging because the three main characters were balanced in abilities and weren't nowhere near as overpowered as Sora in the 2nd game. And the optional bosses were actually hard to defeat(well, without a cheap setup). It was also VERY nice that OrgXii wasn't prevalent for 90% of the game, and the story (while a bit typical) had quite a bit of lighthearted moments and moments I felt actually made the characters grow. Along with the Disney stages, it was a decent game. I just wished they made it for the PS3 instead, because the frame-rate issues are somewhat nasty.

Anyway what I want from KH3 is a Princess and the Frog world and a Wreck It Ralph world and a GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE world. I kind of hate KH's story with the passion of 1000 burning suns, so I doubt I'd be playing them for that. Give good boss battles, and you have a good KH game. I'm hoping for open world exploring and platforming too, but even that I've given up on that now. Still KH3D had some platforming so I will wait and see.
