I know this will probably earn me a ban but... making Shephard gay funfementally changes the character. Homesexuality is a core belief/behavior of a person. Changing Shephard so that he is either, changes the character beyond who he is, or ignores the fundemental aspect of his core character. which is it, homosexuality is unimportant to the person, or are you (Bioware) simply pandering to 3% of your audience who is vocal.
If you(Bioware) want to make a Science-Fisction game with a homosexual protagonist, do it, but don't take an existing character and make him gay only in the sense that he will have sex with other men, it doesn't do your game justice, and it doesn't do justice for your supposed target audience.
None of this is ment as any disrespect for the gay community, while I don't agree with your beliefs I respect your right to have them. I also think if a game is going to be made supporting you it should be fundemental to the character, not a add on at the last minute.

See it this way.
If you did romances in ME1/2, and do gay romances in ME3, then you are bi.
If you didn't do romances in ME1/2, and do gay romances in ME3, then you are gay.
If you did romances in ME1/2 and do straight romances in ME3, then you are straight.
If you didn't romances in ME1/2/3, then you are straight/gay/bi/asexual.
No one is forcing you to pick a sexuality.

I knew this would be about this!
There's no change person type unit, your character won't become gay and oddly enough the gay Shepherd's won't change either. It'll be okay for everyone involved.

I feel punked. I thought you were going to ask about how changing Shepard's class or face would work in ME3 without the dying thing...
Those of us who want the S/S don't want your personal Shepard to be forced into an M/M scene if you don't want it. Believe me, as someone who got unwillingly sexed by the consort just because I felt snappish.
And we are cool will making a new character gay or bisexual if that's the way it goes.

BioWare are not "making Shepard gay" - they are giving you the option to play him that way IF YOU WANT TO. You talk about it changing who the character "is" - that's what YOU decide.
Why is it that when it comes to this issue, people completely forget that Shepard is created by the player?
Sure there are things that are set in stone with the character - sexuality isn't one of them.

Sorry but all I can see is yet another "whaa, whaa, whaa, my shep now feels insecure in his sexuality" post. Please can we just move on already!

Some people are gay, deal with it and grow up. Oh, and it's SHEPARD. <_<

This made my laugh!
Sexual orientation is only one aspect of a person, and hardly from defining their character, unless sex in general is the center of your personal universe. The only thing it says about someone is who they like to sleep with and hence i am only interested to know if I intend to boink them myself.
The fact that homosexuality is still so massively attacked even in our "enlightened" western world,
Edit: After reading the isolated part of the quote, i noticed you are talking about Homesexuality, my mistake ;-)

Excuse me, my male-Shepards have been gay's since ME1. I can't see a problem here.

I don't get it... Everyone has his/her own Shepard. No one can make you to romance the character you don't want to.

By your logic, since Shepard can be female, all Shepards are shape-shifting hermaphrodites.
I, however, am quite pleased with the m/m option; it means I didn't give life to Freddie Shepard for nothing:

Roleplaying. Customization. Deal with it.

Just because a male Shepard hasn't had sex with another man so far (In the first two games) dosent mean hes gay. Its just now the player can have Shepard have a homosexual relationship. Dosent mean that in your made up back story Shepard hasn't had homosexual relations.
Again it's all up to the player, if you want Shepard to be bisexual and this is the first time he/she has had homosexual relations then you can do that. If you want Shepard to have been gay since the day you were born you can do that. And that's why ME is a role playing game.
Oh and there's already a sticky thread for this discussion.

Also. Default shephard isn't black. Yet I make ALL my shephards black. Doesn't mean your shephard is black or will be black in ME3.
Shephard is what YOU make him. Adding options to flesh out his personality hardly invalidates what he's done in the previous two games. and as been pointed out same sex relationships have been in since ME1 (if you were a female shephard) So how does adding in one more change anything?

Mustache was not big enough, but they did not have appropriately poofy and long hair for non-mustache Freddie.
Bioware must hate Queen.
Anyway, the OP hasn't replied, so I'm not convinced this isn't trolling.

all that opose Kelkimhr's point of view forget about what bioware did with Dragon Age 2 where your all companions were ******/lesbos and they were offensive in starting the "romance" (exept the ones you can't romance) ..i think that's what Kelkimhr is saying ..reading betwin the lines ME3 can become a DA2 ..and looking at how lesbian action was forced on female players in ME1 (consort..Liara)...it can be very similar with m/m acton being forced in ME3
AND more important DA2 was a NEW game with a NEW protagonist ...for ME3 they take an old one that for 2 games was straight and they give him "opportunity" to become not-so straight
AND even more important ..WTF is with all this romances in ME anyway ..feels like this game (witch was all about saving the galaxy and fighting aliens and such) has turned in a romance simulator ..ppl playing it for virtual romances not for what it should be played ...my real fear is that Bioware will loose time with NEW ROMANCES is stead of focusing on the goddamn storyline ..goddamn romances ..i wish they took out romances instead they add more ...goddammit!
