DA2 wasn't a fiasco; it was just a rough draft.  Played large portions of it at a friend's house.

Plenty of other games have exciting and epic storylines: Starcraft, Half Life, Bioshock, etc.  None of them do romance subplots.

And yes, it is custom to include at least one new LI for teh n00bz.  Not everyone will want to sleep with Liara, and as of now she is the only guaranteed option.

It's not changing Shepard. It's more like "what if the right person came along? would you go gay for him/her?"... since this can be offensive I would recommend Bioware to have a toggle in the game options: bisexual relationships on/off... hell it could work...

Also, can anyone give me a coherent explanation on how Shepard is "supposed to be straight"?  It's such a brain-bendingly idiotic assumption that... that you'd have to be really dumb to make it. I suck at hyperbole.

Seriously, I don't understand the reasoning behind it. Since so many people seem to consider it a valid point, I would like to see it explained.

This is extremely silly. A player needs a toggle to prevent himself from making his Shepard gay? These gay LIs will be so attractive that you just won't be able to keep yourself from making Shepard go after them unless you've locked out the option before you start playing?

No one is "changing" Shepard but you, the player. Shepard isn't going to just wake up in ME3 and decide that no, he didn't actually want to romance Liara, he's been aching for Zaeed.

You the player decide Shepard's sexuality.
