In an old DOS game you had to find / activate certain items before you got these features. I really liked that.

I just wondered if something like that would be possible for a NWN module, too. I fear it's not.

I'd like the minimap to show up only when the PC owns a map (or clicks a useable map or globe). Same for the time shown: if the PC doesn't have a clock in her/his inventory, there's no way to know the time. As for the compass, it only would work if ... what ever (the PC either could find a compass, get the ability to know directions as a reward or something else). Is there a way to do that?

There is one or more haks that will remove the minimap that I've heard of, but not for just making in unavailable until a condition is met (such as with possessing an item).

For the compass, that one you could do a graphical override/hak to remove the visual (but it would still be there). Like the minimap though, "removing" it would mean it couldn't be turned back on in-game by possessing a certain item.

For both of the previous, this would also mean that a player would have to be using a hak file, and someone with basic knowledge of haks could easily remove the "overwriting" files from it to still see the map and compass in-game.

For the clock time on mouseover...that's one seems to be hardcoded. It's something I asked about several years ago on the old forum (I just wanted to change the text to display the name of a month instead of a number).

Thanks for the answer. I already feared that it won't be possible (no, I don't want to overwrite the compass and minimap for the whole game, I wanted to keep it hidden only temporarily. Was just an idea anyway.

Concerning a player being able to edit a hak, well, you just can't prevent things like that.
