I've been playing the demo on the xbox360, hopefully waiting for the GOTY edtion of mass effect 2, and have ocassionaly killed the YMir Mech by a lift and shockwave combo (I think in quick succession). I tried doing a brief search via google to see if this had been mentioned somewhere with no results.
Is this a bug in the demo? I suppose it doesn't matter as you have to strip them of shields anyway. Just would be interested to know.
Lift and shockwave bug?

Sounds to me like an environment kill.
Have you a video for us or could you further specify what exactly you were doing?

On the xbox360 so can't really provide video, as to environmental kill, maybe but I was not pushing the YMIR off a ledge in the xbox360 demo there aren't any (Prison level before Jacks recruitment). As to what I was doing basically stripped both sets off defence off the mech had Jacob cast lift and Shepard cast shockwave which was instant kill and has happened to both mechs (different times).
If there is a skill involved I think it is the quick succession of both lift and shockwave, maybe a two time glitch.

YMIRs sometimes auto explode when caught in bad angles. I don't know why it happens but it's pretty common if you fight them on an uneven surface. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Maybe the YMIR glitch in Arrival isn't just a DLC thing after all..
Never seen this one myself.

If the shields and armor are stripped it's entirely conceivable that shockwave could destroy the mech while levitated in the air. Airborne targets take massive damage.

^Hard to say, as pure physics-kills (eg: Shockwave) are determined by the engine and are largely unpredictable. Then again, it is possible to OSOK YMIRs with Flashbangs at one point in the game, so it could be a unique interaction between the game engine and YMIR model, maybe?

It maybe that the YMIR is being hit by multiple shockwave bursts due to it's physical size and the space it takes up on the map. Normally it takes just one of the 8-12 impact bursts to send a human-sized enemy flying. Being hit by mutiple newton blasts combined with the mass-reducing effects of Pull might have dealt significant damage to destroy it.
What difficulty setting was it on and how many biotic upgrades/shockwave points did you have?

@Darkstar Auroa
I used Jacobs lift (level1) and Vanguard shockwave (level1), and no upgrades I think (As mentioned above I was the playing xbox 360 demo (waiting for GOTY) so I don't think I was using upgrades since I didn't have a loadout option.) I have sortof convinced myself that it is a bug that occasionally occurs.
