So now that the first images of ME3 are rolling out, what I want to know is if we're *finally* going to be seeing Jane Shep being advertised actively, whether in trailers or gameplay or what? I felt Dragon Age did a slightly better job this time around; even if she didn't show up in the big trailers (which was sad), she was shown in demos, screenshots, talked about in interviews, etc etc.

So what about ME? Love Sheploo and all, but I would not object to at least seeing female Shepard on some dang covers, y'know?

The best we can hope for is a demo or gameplay video.

I've given up hope at this point.

As much as I'd love for this to happen, I'm fairly convinced it won't.

Then again, I was also convinced that Bio wasn't going to implement same-sex stuff in ME3, so who knows, they might surprise us. :o

My preference:

maleShep used in every marketing piece
femShep used in some gameplay demos, gameplay videos (the Vanguard trailers for ME2, for example) alongside maleShep, and some promotional art.

The marketing student in me wants maleShep to stay, but the marketing student in me also bemoans the way Bioware failed to advertise femShep during the last game's marketing cycle. They put half of the freaking game into femShep, they should at least advertise that to gamers (and
i don't doubt it

Certainly would like.  But im realistic.  We wont see marketting for femshep in the forms of magazine shots, trailers ect.

However I would like to see whats pointed out her in point #2

Seeing femshep in pre-order armour at the very least if Bioware goes that direction (like they did in ME2). That way we can make an informed decision where to preorder games from based on what content looks the best.

Additionally, femshep got four screenshots prior to ME2 being released.  I do hope theres more this time.  Many arnt asking for a massive advertising campaign but seeing the key protagonist in our game is important for a lot of people.

No I don't think they should roll out the CG commercials for her the brand has been established for several years with Mshep as the recognizable figure to all those who aren't familiar with the game. It's kind of like McDonald's changing out Ronald for some up beat girl in a flashy costume and showing the McD logo people would be like and who's that?

BW would have to work twice as hard to not only push fshep out there but get people to fully understand she is the Commander Shepard of the series. We know her that doesn't mean everyone else does or would want to. They want to target people who like military space games most people think tough male for this spot Mshep is the typical classic space soldier everyone thinks of Jane is not and there for will be more difficult for her to sell the franchise.

If they started back in ME with fshep as say a second add this might go over well but starting it in 3 is more difficult for them.

Unfortunately, Femmeshep has been hidden away in a corner by bioware. I didn't even know I could make a female character until I booted up the game and I suspect it will stay that way.

wont happen. this has been discussed many many times.

its all about face recognition with sheploo's face. any one who'd be like "oh neat they put femshep on" is already a ME fan. anyone who cares about femshep is already an ME fan and is likely to buy.

the market for women who'd be interested in ME simply because of a girl on the cover is insignificant. the market for random dumb dudes who'd buy a game with a badass spacemarine dude on the cover without knowing anything about the game is significant.

again, its about recognition. people see sheploo they instantly know its shepard, he doesnt even have to be wearing the classic N7 armor or in an obvious ME setting, they can still identify him. sheploo is "the face of mass effect"

deal with it.

Agreed.

I'd also like to see FemShep in a demo or two at the upcoming gaming conventions.  They don't have to show her all the time over Sheploo but I feel she should get some screen time.  If only to see if she is given her own set of animations back.

everytime one of these threads pops up all the femshep fans start acting like its some feminist rights rally or something when that has absolutely nothign to do with it.

Should but won't... I fully understand and appreciate why though.. not that's it is even remotely relevant... anyone who wouldn't buy ME3 ME2 or ME1 just because it has a male Shep and not femshep on the advertisements / box cover doesn't deserve the privilege of playing in the first place :)

Oh, also.. I own the digital versions via direct2drive... sooo.. box covers are meaningless to me hehe.

I don't really see this, though,  I could say that your desire to jump on these threads and post so very quickly is somewhat misogynistic but I won't because that's just silly.  The thing is what exactly is your problem with women wanting their Shepherd to get a little face time?  It's pretty obvious that it probably won't happen,  but,  I have to wonder why it bothers you so much that it's being suggested.

And you appear quite quick too to try and cause an arguement.  Something the mods have picked up when you last tried stirring trouble with the femshep community .   This thread is about a fan just expressing an opinion because they like their protagonist.

If you cant be polite please dont post.  This isnt some "rights rally" and we arnt asking for the world.  In fact many of us are willing to compromise.   We would just like to see some things change that are important to us.

I know we'll never get FemShep in the trailers (which is exactly why I avoid the trailers :P) but I can highly approve of the request to at least get pictures of her for DLC/Promotional items. I was going to buy a few of the promotional codes but since I couldn't get an idea of how they'd look on FemShep, I skipped over them.

I slapped myself when I saw Sheploo on the tin case of the ME2 CE. I thought that was the perfect opportunity to show FemShep, but it was still that guy.

And before people jump on me, I do play Sheploo and I don't hate him. But that little thing called compromise is something I will always appreciate.

Female fans seek to have acknowledgement of female PC in a game?

My word, how revolutionary. *toggles monocle*

Won't happen. Maybe a two-sided cover - after all it was done before (---> e.g. C&C Red Alert 3 - had a "Soviet" and an "Allied" cover). I doubt they'll start advertising Fem-Shep for the last part of the triology. I can see why FemShep fans would want to see that kind of advertisement, but let's be honest - the majority sees Shep as a male. I'd go as far and say that most people will create several male Shepards before doing the first female.

Also, FemSheps posture and walking animation looks crappy in ME2. At least we know she has balls (flame responses to this totally cheap and offensive joke are always welcome).
